"I went to LB Steak with my brother and his girlfriend for her birthday dinner and we had a fantastic time. The manager Chris helped us choose a great bottle of wine to go with our food. The chef sent out the pork belly on brioche with a sunny side egg on top; it was like breakfast for dinner and it was perfect! For dinner I had a delicious filet, my brother had the lamb shank and his girlfriend got the beef medallions. My filet came with two sides so I was plenty full by the time we headed out (hint: get the onion rings *drool*). Low noise level so we could have a great intimate dinner and I could definitely see myself coming here for a nice dinner for two."

"We had a great evening celebrating our son's birthday. Service was excellent, change in table setting was swift, friendly and courteous. The steaks were fabulous, although my tomohawk was a bit overdone for medium. Nonetheless, a nice evening."

"If you want a peaceful dinner avoid early hour at LB. the restaurant was loud due to screaming children which detracted a lot from an otherwise very nice dinner. Steaks, cocktails, and service were excellent"

"I expected so much more from this restuarant. We are big fans of Left Bank. I presumed LB Steak would be an upscale steakhouse of high quality. The service was uncoordinated ( brought our salad dressing on the side 5-10 min after we got our salad.... Given there was a runny egg on the salad we did not realize it had no dressing until the waiter came with the dressing and we were 3/4 the way through eating our salad). We ordered the most expensive 12oz. Steak on the menu. It was actaully about 8 oz., and 3-4 oz of that was fat. Marbeled is one thing, but 1 inch of fat is fat, not marbeling. The bread they served was cold, not something i expect at a high end restaurant. They also served cookies as a parting treat. It was nice, but cold"

"One of the best kept secrets in the area. Amazing food and service right here in sleepy Menlo Park. Skip a night out to Palo Alto and treat yourself to this neighborhood gem. Everything on the menu is amazing, especially the dry aged Porterhouse and all of the deserts. Will rival if not beat any of your area favorites, I can promise you that."

"This was the second time my husband and I had been to LB Steak. As with the first time, the food was delicious. The steaks were incredibly tender, the onion rings were sweet and crunchy, and the desserts were scrumptious. The one disappointment was the beef tartare, which tasted like it had catsup in it and was unpleasantly sweet."

"Service was very poor. We were a group of 8 and consumed 3 bottles of wine. They had the bottles on a nearby side table. Only once did they refill our glasses - we had to get up to retrieve the bottles and pour it ourselves. They delievered the 2 hot starters to 2 diners, then the cold oysters 5 minutes later. Our hot starters were cold by the time the oysters arrived for the rest of the table. My friend ordered a steak done black and blue. It was medium well. He returned it and got the replacement steak when the rest of the table was finishing up. The waiter never offered any descriptions nor advise - he just arived with his notepad and asked if we were ready to order."

"LB Menlo Park is not much... Been to Santana Row's spot a few times and enjoyed it on a hit & miss basis. This operation does not have the 'Row' to encourage people to overspend on product that is not @ par with their pricing much less what you would expect from this steak house. "Fantastic restaurant in Menlo Park - I am glad they opened up here. While the steak is fantastic, this restaurant will make even a vegetarian happy - fantastic salads, plenty of non-steak dishes and of course, awesome steaks. "This was a first time visit to LB in Menlo Park (have been to the Santana Row location) and I must say I was impressed. The reviews on open table gave me some what of a skeptical feeling, but I went ahead and made a reservation to cure both my curiosity as well as my craving for a good steak without having to drive too far from home.
I tend to dine a little late but I did show up a bit early for our reservation and we were politely greeted by a smiling young hostes who had us seated right away. The restaurant did seem a bit busy so I do apreciate us not having to wait to be seated.
The portions were were great. We each had our own entree, I had halibut, and she had the filet. Shared a couple sides and were stuffed. We will be back."

"local dining spot new to Menlo Park, I've walked by and wanted to try it. My daughter had been to the one on Santana Row and RAVED about it.
I ordered the "special" pepper steak @ $45. What I got was a whole LOT of FAT and gristle! I kept having to pull pieces out of my mouth and spit it back on the plate. I was wholly disappointed. My mother ordered lobster which she had to wrestle out of the shell. It was hard and over-cooked!
We told the waiter who gave us a dessert. Was going to tell the chef but didn't and since the Manager was NOT very friendly.
Not sure how they will do in Marche's place, but I will not be returning....EVER! If you want a good steak, hit Izzy's in San Carlos. You cannot go wrong there."

"This was my second time at LB Steak, the first time was good but last nights experience was WONDERFUL. I was greeted by 2 smiling faces and promptly sat in a beautiful booth facing the windows. The server was professional and curtious without a hint of pretention, which is always to nice!
My husband was unable to make up his mind and asked the server for a drink recommendation, without blinking she described a "barrel aged negroni" which was some kind of gin drink which they aged in a barrel...awesome! I had a rather nice glass of Cabernet.
All of our food was also wonderful! we got a beet salad and a ceasar, and then two dry aged steaks that were cooked to prefection. Its so nice to go out and have a great meal, we will be back a"

"This was a poorly managed Open-Table/Restaurant experience. Even though I booked months in advance and confirmed with the restaurant, there was an issue with the reservation. Apparently OpenTable overbooked the restaurant resulting in a nearly 45min wait for an already late 8:30pm reservation and were starving by the time we sat down. I had requested a special table with the restaurant (ignored) and we were seated in the back by the kitchens entrance and the emergency exit door. We noticed other customers getting higher levels of service (corkage fee waved, salad comp'd) because they had to wait 20min, and here we had to wait twice that. "For some reason, the lights were cranked up half-way through our meal, and there was a light directly on me, which was super annoying. I'm suspicious that they did it based on another customer request, but regardless, they should have a policy against cranking up the lights (negatively influencing other diners) because of one needy/pushy customer. I usually wouldn't mention such a thing, but it was legitimately blinding, unnecessary, and the lights were fine before they turned them up (WAY up). I've sat at the same table before with no issues.
Other than that, the food was great and the service was prompt and courteous."

"The aged rib eye was the delicious but it took us 2 hours and a half just for a salad, intermezzo, steak and dessert. The service was sooo slow and at 8 pm they already ran out of filet!"

"Sandwiched between Sundance in Palo Alto and Town in San Carlos is LB Steak. I hoped for something on par with both of those benchmarks. Alas, it was not the case. The food is fair at best. Some odd things on the menu - Caesar salad was overly fishy, the creamed spinach with poached egg was...not good at all (tasted bad, presented even worse). Steaks were good, but factor in price and no sides, it's just fair. Also, dry aged usually gives beef a depth of flavor. Mine was less flavorful that I would expect. Service was good, hostess/manager very nice, inviting. Fair overall because of price, if was a less expensive, would be a good value."

"My husband and I recently went to LB Steak for the first time on Valentines Day. Unfortunately, we sat in the middle of a very sterile back room with a speaker above our heads blasting rock music, it felt like we were at a concert. When we asked the waiter if we could fet the music turned down he agreed that it was loud but it took some time to fix necause he refused to leave his "area" of the reataurant to talk to the manager. The overall atmosphere was sterile and the food was mediocre for a steak house. There are so many others in the area that do such a better job on both foodand ambience."

"I had a bad experience at LB Steakhouse. My steak was chard and the side potato was pathetic. I had to send my entree back. When the check came, there were drinks added which I did not order. Also, despite taking my steak off the bill, they still tried to charge me for my side potato.
It seems there is a lack of quality control with the restaurant based upon reviews over the past few months. I will not eat here again as it is not worth the price. As for my experience this night, the chef ruined a good NY strip and it would have been cooked better at sizzler."

"We visited LB Steak on a Sunday evening for our daughter's birthday, especially for Prime Rib Sunday. Our reservations were for 7:30 pm and after being seated and ordered we were told there was no Prime Rib, while we were quite disappointed we reviewed the menu and selected different dishes. My daughter and I ordered the 4 oz filet, when it arrived, we were quite surprised, it was no more that a 2" X 2" piece of filet, not at all 4 oz! I also ordered a baked potatoe which was not fully cooked. Overall, the experience was very disappointing and we will not be returning anytime soon."

"We were entertaining an old friend visiting Stanford and had only four hours to share. This was the perfect place. We all enjoy a great steak and a nice atmosphere but also wanted a place quiet enough to converse easily. The noise level was perfect for us, and the food was terrific. We shared the pork belly starter as well wa the 32 oz bone-in chop. Sunday evening's half-price deal on wines over $100 got us a very nice '06 Brunelo."

"We had a large party (8) and had a table in the back - a bit large for 8, so it was difficult to have a conversation with everyone - clearly unfortunate. Food was a bit uneven. Beet salad and lobster bisque were delicious. Sides were under seasoned (mushrooms, green beans), baked potato was terrible - one bite was enough. Steaks were good (once mine was cooked the way I ordered it). The wine we order was wonderful. I don't know that I would rush back here. Given the cost, it just wasn't worth it. I prefer Towne."

"The steak I had was a disappointment. it was too thin for a $45 Ribeye, and was not very juicy for a medium rare high end steak. The waiter seemed determined to get us to buy wine, even though we brought our own bottle with us. After we declined his offer of the wine list at least twice, he brought it anyway and put it in front of the only one in our party not drinking wine....suggesting he look at their Bordeau selections. We were stunned at the audacity. We will not be back. Too bad, because we do like the location."
