Biscottis
In 1993 Karin Tucker and Barbara Bredehoeft opened Biscottis as a cozy 37 seat coffee house. It quickly became a landmark success and now seats 100 in a beautiful turn of the century brick and wood interior building. Offering casual comfort, innovative cuisine (try the fabulous Sunday brunch), and with a personality all its own, the Avondale eatery has expanded to accommodate its citywide clientele.

"Biscotti's was delicious as always. We had not been in a while and decided to go for father's day and it didn't disappoint . I ate the creme brulee french toast with cheese grits and a mimosa. The frnche toast. Was crispy on the outside and creamy in the center. Yummy! My husband had a breakfast burrito and it was delicious as well. Good local brews and more at the bar if dining for lunch or dinner. Definitely recommend."

"Great experience at Biscottis for Sunday brunch. In my top 2 corned beef hash - many (most?) places overdo the potatoes and turn what should be CB hash into Potato hash and that was definitely not the case here. Small diced potatoes, plentiful corned beef and the right mix of accoutrement and served with eggs over easy and marbled rye toast - excellent. Wife had the vegetarian omelet and subbed in Goat Cheese - also excellent. Great coffee, good mimosas and attentive service."

"I had a coworker recommend this place and after researching it and reading the reviews, I decided to take my wife there. I must ay this place lived up to its billing! My wife had the Salmon BLT and I had the Skirt steak salad and we shared. WOW. Then we TRIED to pick our deserts, they all looked so good, this a much more daunting task than it first seemed. If I had to pick one bad thing out, and I would really be nit picking, is that our server when asked how big the Salmon BLT was, was less then helpful by saying "its a normal sandwich size" Its plenty big enough to share by the way. But he more than redeemed himself throughout the rest of the evening. I will definitely be back and I strongly recommend this restaurant."

"Our dinner consisted of a risotto and a steak filet with potatoes and vegetables (and dessert). The food was excellent and the price point for the quality made it an excellent value. While the food and atmosphere are a notch below a true 'fine dining' experience, both entrees were prepared with skill and the steak filet was a perfect medium. Presentation was also nice.
The desserts alone make this place worth the trip. All four desserts ordered were some of the all-time best I've ever tasted, and everything in the display case looked nothing short of mouth-watering.
Our server took excellent care of us, but was perhaps a trifle too attentive for casual dining.
Overall a delicious, upper-end casual dining experience with great desserts."

"We opted for Mother's Day "dinner" at Biscotti's, which was a mistake. One of the biggest draws is their dessert case, which was virtually empty (except for some pound cake and last minute-prepared bread pudding). When we arrived we were seated almost immediately and greeted by a very harried waitress. When we inquired about the empty dessert case she commented "that's the way the cookie crumbles." Really? This was a special Mother's Day dinner and trite excuses with no apologies are not acceptable.
Otherwise, our meal was as good as we should expect for a holiday Sunday night. The grilled pork was expertly prepared. However, the baked mac & cheese side dish looked like it had been cooked 12 hours earlier. Skip holiday dinners here!"

"I've had their desserts before, but this was my first time dining at the restaurant. Wow. Their menu is a bit lighter than most (salads and sandwiches). I had the portobello mushroom sandwich (with spinach, blue cheese, and BACON) and sweet potato fries. It was amazing. I loved that when I asked if they had a dessert menu, our waitress said "No, I get to give you the tour." Tour, indeed. What an amazing selection of desserts, each one looking more delicious than the last."

"Service, food, and experience was excellent. I've only eaten at Biscotti's once before, but this time I went there on a date and was much more impressed. The service is professional and well-trained. I was given the sense that the servers are the owners and can literally meet any request you make, but also treat you with respect and honesty, like family. The dessert was outstanding of course- we followed our server's recommendation and chose the Tropical Cake. Too good to be true. I will definitely eat here again. The only thing I can remember being somewhat strange was their tile choice on the floor. It is uneven and clearly not anticipating women with heals. It's like a Mexican tile design I believe; nevertheless it won't dissuade me."

"We eat here all the time, but this past Saturday night, was probaly one of our favorite times! The food is always good, but that night we tried some of the new specials, and it was excellent!!! "I loved the food as always, my husband it was his first time there and he was not at all happy. He said "it would be a good place for a high priced lunch" or " a good place for a girls night" he did not pick any of the specials and did not want salad, pizza or sandwiches and ended up ordering something I could have told him he would not have liked.

"The food was not up to par with what is being charged. We ordered 2 specials and neither was prepared properly. The pork chop was overlooked and flavorless. The sauce could of been anything and certainly didn't taste like apple butter. When we sat down our server Kevin did not introduce himself, and we needed his help on one occasion and did everything but trip him to which he just walked by. Finally when he came over I asked for his name. More than twice during our meal he came to collect sugar wrappers from our table while we were talking, once he even put his hand out for me to give him the paper I was holding it was oddly uncomfortable. Overall I was upset after leaving because i wasn't satisfied!!"

"The food was pretty much what I expected. Tasty and reasonably priced. However, I made a reservation and we sat down nearly 40 minutes late as they overbooked their tables and couldnt really accomodate all of the large parties they seated in addition to regular tables."

"Biscotti's has remained one of my all time favorite restaurants to go to. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is friendly and the desserts will always impress. I recommend this as a ladies lunch. I have taken many of my girlfriends here for a special treat and they always ask when we can come back. My only suggestions are that they expand....again, and that they add some heavier lunchtime options to appease the men in my life so that I can convince them to go with me more often!"

"I have experienced the restaurant on several occasions now. It is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the company of those around you, without the huddle and bustle of a tavern or the pretentiousness of upscale. I prefer the lunch menu, but would recommend the goat cheese salad as a dinner option. If you are in the mood for sweet, do not pass up the bread pudding! It is rich, buttery, warmth, with vanilla icecream that cleans the bite!"

"Biscotti's, and its sister restaurant, BB's, are consistently good. On this occasion I ordered what they call a salmon BLT: an excellent sandwich accompanied by excellent sweet potato fries. My companions were equally pleased with their meals. Desserts are delicious and huge, easily enough for two with some to take home. The restaurant was bustling at lunch time, but our server and the kitchen worked together to deliver our orders in a very reasonable time, as befits a restaurant which draws workers from nearby businesses on their lunch breaks.
My overall and food ratings were "very good" only because I reserve "outstanding" for rare exceptional experiences. But I would not quibble with anyone who rates Biscotti's outstanding."
