"Service is still an issue...while our server nice..spilled a drink on one of our guests ....on arrival, taken to a table for 6 by the kitchen in back... asked for a round table, better conversation flow for 6 people and our escort fumbled and couldn't handle our request. Let her off the hook and sat down. Hurried servers bumped the back of our chairs all night.. we are trying to introduce many business clients and friends only to be disappointed. Had a Bohan & Bradstreet, Inc. Christmas luncheon, another casual business gathering, a few dinners.... we have some history . . when the Madison Beach Hotel is discussed, all comments are the same: great location, terrible service, food not consistent"

"Came early for dinner after the theater. Was presented with the new menu which was very nice - had never been there before. Ordered wine and asked if bread came with dinner and was told it did. One person asked to switch the rice to potatoes (which were on the menu with another meal) and they refused. Said it was a new menu and they couldn't switch anything. Just ordered main courses as it was early and weren't overly hungry (besides our wine). Waiting for some bread to eat while drinking the wine - never came. Asked and was told it's coming out. All of a sudden our dinners were presented - we asked where the bread was and was very rudely told that it was coming out. It did - halfway through our dinners. Dinners lukewarm. Would not return."

"My fiance and I had dinner here to celebrate our engagement and we couldn't have been more pleased. The food was excellent and the service was unbelievably good. I really appreciated the level of care and concern the entire staff show for us during our meal. Truly exceptional dining experience."

"Our group went specifically to sit on the deck and enjoy the view but also had high hopes for the advertised menu. The food was overpriced for its underwhelming taste and portions. It was served to us cold and over an hour after we were seated. The view was beautiful as we were there for sunset. Lower the expectation and just go for drinks - you'll probably be pleased."

"What a shame! The setting is so lovely, and the food reasonably good. But the service was a disaster. Too many customers and too few waiters! The noise level in the dining room was so high, it was impossible to carry on a conversation."

"We were seated along a crowed bench, one couple asked to move as conversation was impossible and wait staff was literally talking in our faces. Both meals,, steak and pork chops were over cooked. Staff was was polite and attentive. We passed on complimentary desserts. Overall,not bad. Had lunch there a week ago, much better."

"We enjoyed our dinner at the Wharf. We especially enjoyed our appetizers of tuna tartar and fried calamari. The clam chowder was very tasty . The tuna was real fresh and tender while the calamari was hot and plentiful. For entrees we had swordfish and salmon. Both were good although the swordfish was a bit dry. The view is lovely although the tables for 2 are lined up close to each other along the wall . This line-up doesn't allow one person to see the view because he/she is facing the wall. The booths in the middle of the room are for larger parties and offer a much better view. We plan on going back for drinks and appetizers."

"Our family enjoyed Sunday Brunch here - it may seem pricey at $38/pp, but it's really not considering the items available. There was a delicious cooked salmon, fresh oysters, shrimp cocktail, prime rib and ham carving stations as well as French toast, a "made to order" omelet station, roasted vegetables and scrumptious desserts.
The place is right on the beach so the views are fabulous! We also enjoyed free valet parking - not sure if this is offered every Sunday or not. We'd love to stay at this beautiful beach hotel!"

"Have a revived menu with prices now in line with other local restaurants( Not the case the past season) Had a very good steak. The only problem was it took an hour and a half to get our entre. The house did give us wine refills and we were not in a hurry, but service will need to improve to get the locals, which is necessary to keep the restaurant going."

"The Wharf has excellent views of Long Island Sound and is tastefully decrorated. The luncheon menu, however, is extremely limited and somewhat expensive. Choices of a hot dog, two hamburgs, one veggie burger, a chicken wrap, and an outrageously priced lobster roll ($24) are not what we would expect for an upscale restaurant at the shore. Sodas at $4 and salad instead of fries, another $4! Nothing gourmet and a $60 tab for two sandwiches and two sodas."

"Trial run for lunch before arranging a ladies lunch for $9.98 special as advertised.
Too bad the architect moved the bar so far back from the beautiful view! Fortunately we had a table by the window so we were able to enjoy LI Sound. Our waiter was friendly, when asked about the special lunch which was not on the menu, he offered to tell us the daily special and provided us a print out of the specials. We started out with Bloody Marys which were on the bland side, Chopped salad, no color, poor presentation, burger fared better, well prepared as ordered, good fries. better.Worth a trip if only for the view."

"We live in town so we would like to see the Beach Hotel do well. The food is actually very good, but the service is aweful! We were there for 3+ hours and we only saw our waitress three times throughout the dinner. The hostess finally came to retrieve the bill from our table. The restaurant was not crowded so I we had no idea what she was doing the whole time. It is really too bad because the restaurant has great potential, it just has aweful servers. The bar area is always crowded and the bar staff are helpful and attentive. PLEASE get better service or the restaurant will never survive. We really enjoy sitting in the bar area and the food has always been great."
