Cavatore Italian Restaurant is a family owned restaurant that has been in Houston for almost 29 years. Our unique menu features dishes from Northern Italy. We are famous for our tableside Caesar salad and homemade tiramisu. Live piano music nightly complements our food and atmosphere. Benvenutti a tutti (welcome everybody)!!

"Fabulous food. My favorite is the filet with the gravy. Fantastic. I've been turning friends on to this restaurant for years. My son has always ordered the lasagna or spaghetti. As this was our last trip to Cavatore's before moving to Colorado, I ordered the filet for both of us. His reaction after the first bite was "Oh, wow!" Same with my husband. Love Cavatore's!"

"Planned a group dinner and decided to go to Cavatore. Originally we had planned for 10 but we had some late joiners so that 2 hours before the dinner we now had 16. The hostess found a way to seat us, giving us their largest table and one nearby. It worked out and our waitress really took care of us during the delicious meal, so it was a great experience for our group."

"I was absolutely pleased with the service. Not just the waiter, but everyone we came across were very energetic and happy to be there. They truly cared if we enjoyed our time there and make sure of it. I would definitely come back again and recommend this place to others."

"My business partner and I wanted a nice restaurant to have a dinner in, (after hours meeting) and to enjoy a really nice meal. The maitre 'd seated us right away (reservation at 6:30) and our waiter brought us delicious garlic bread and both a wine list and menu. The food was great - my business partner ended up ordering the beef tournedos and I ordered the grilled snapper, which shared with each other. Both excellent. I ordered a reasonably priced, good house red. We especially enjoyed the live piano music. There were both families (with well behaved young children) and couples, and while we were in suit and ties, the restaurant can be both upscale, as well as casual, as the interior is rustic. I would recommend the restaurant."

"My husband and I booked a dinner at Cavatore to celebrate our anniversary. We were really disappointed and will not go back because:
1)they did nothing to acknowledge our anniversary--even though we told them while making the reservation
2) the food was just so so and way overpriced for the quality. I had lasagna--it was runny and poorly seasoned. The caesar salad is made at the table--that was fun, but was drowning in dressing. The dessert (pecan cheesecake was dry and tasted old. The wine (while not cheaply priced) tasted like colored water,
3) our server was less than even adequate. He made no effort to make us feel special. We arrived in a high, celebratory mood and left so disappointed we chose this place!
NOT recommended."

"Our little family came to Cavatore's to celebrate Father's Day with my husband. The food was amazing, and the service was impeccable. We split a couple of the entrees and they graciously divided them for us. I had the house cab, and it was very nice and reasonably priced. HOWEVER, the entertainment for the evening was much too loud ! I normally love to hear music while dining, but this was so loud that it made it made it almost impossible to converse. Other than that, our dining experience was wonderful, and we will return !"

"The caesar salad is a must have! Made right at your table and very tasty.
Chad was a great waiter who helped me chose the chiati with my dinner. The young man who prepared the caesar salad was wonderful. Initially I was going to dine alone but one-by-one my friends volunteered, ...I wanna go, I wanna go and next thing I knew I was making dinner reservations for four. and they all thanked me for taking them to a great place. "I usually have a very above average experience at Cavatore. All places have some bumps in the road, but I usually have attentive service and good food product.
The table side Caesar is well worth the price. The hostesses are usually very friendly (especially to my newborn son). Place is kid friendly but also good for date nights. A true staple in the neighborhood and I will be back many times. Wines by the glass are not exorbitantly priced. Love the live piano music."

"There were four in our party and we specifically went to hear Sharon Montgomery sing. She was wonderful but our food was so/so. Two were pleased but not overwhelmed with their Alfredo and Carbonara-style dinners while one did not care for his spaghetti and meatballs or the red sauce at all. The fourth got two appetizers of ravioli and tortollini that were very good. Service was attentive and friendly but not aggressive. We enjoyed the live music very much. I think she is there the last Tuesday of the month. One couple was willing to come back while the other was not."

"The place was packed; parking full too. They were hosting a corporate event and all tables were occupied. My reservation was honored and on time. The kitchen cannot handle being "slammed" with a full house. The waiter did his best but the food just wasn't coming out in a timely fashion and the quality suffered; bland and flavorless. Our entree didn't arrive until 90 minutes after we were seated. This was a Tuesday night, normally quiet for most resturants.
They should consider reducing the amount of tables thay can resonably hope to accomodate or expand the kitchen staff and service."

"Terrific food - the Lobster Ravioli was incredible, as was the wine. Our waiter was very patient and attentive.
We dined on Valentine's Day, and were obviously two star-struck lovers. We sat at our table until all other patrons had left. However, instead of someone coming and politely asking us to leave, a different waiter walked by the table and shouted out - as if he was calling to someone in the back kitchen - "well if you guys would leave we could all go home!" or something to that effect. Entirely inappropriate and exceedingly rude.
I will come back because I enjoy the food, and will not hold this single negative incident against Cavatore's. But management had better get a handle on this sort of behavior!"

"Had a group of 15 teenagers for my daughters 16th birthday. Manager called to set us in their private dinning days in advance. Grahm was our waiter and was very personable and attentive to the kids. The hostess did a bang up job and arranged for a table for my wife, my mother in law and myself just outside the dinning area where we could see the kids. Will be back for sure!!!"

"I was very disappointed with Cavatore. The service was very slow. Each time we needed something we had to flag down the waiter, he never checked on us. Also, it was a friend's birthday and her daughter had made cupcakes for her birthday and the waiter said there would be a fee to allow us to eat them there. We asked to speak to the Manager and she was very rude and said we could not eat them at all. My friend's 7 year old daughter was in tears and the manager did not help. We will never go back there."

"Great food. The tables are a little too close together but we always have a good experience there! The hostess and manager were very accommodating as I was on crutches. We made reservations and had to keep pushing the time back and the hostess was SO sweet about it and made us feel very welcome as did the manager!!!!"

"Recalling a previous visit that was quiet and romantic, I booked reservations for my wife and I for our 40th anniversary. The food was excellent and the waiter was very attentive. However, the restaurant was noisy and crowded due to a wedding party. Instead of the live piano music that I was anticipating, a duet was performing. I had ordered a bouquet of flowers delivered for our table, and I called ahead to inform the restaurant that flowers would be arriving. When my wife and I arrived for our reservation, the maitre d' informed me the flowers were missing. Three days later, the flowers were found behind the restaurant where they had been left because the restaurant was closed at the time of delivery. My advice: keep your plans simple"

"The food was great and they were able to offer my husband an alternative dish since he is lactose intolerant. It is difficult sometimes to find a restaurant that completely understands and is attentive to this nuance. We will be going back!"

"We had a great Valentine's Day dinner here. We weren't going to go out because we didn't want to deal with a crowd and Valentine's Day menues, but we thought if we went early, to a staple, we would be fine. We were right. Even though they were fully booked, we were not crowded, or rushed to leave. The salmon and tortellini were tasty as always, but the crawfish pasta needed more flavor. The Thursday night pianist is awesome and if you are lucky enough to sit in the room where she plays, you get extra attention. This place is nothing fancy, but a real gem to enjoy. Our server wasn't exactly on top of his game, but that was probably because it was Valentine's Day. The food and wine are both very reasonable, and the atmosphere is fun."

"I was reccomended this resturant and decided to give it a try on Valentine's Day and I was pleasantly surprised! From the time we arrived with our reservation we were seated immediatly the piano player was entertaining everyone! Great food and service couldnt be better I would refer this place to anyone and will be back!Pricing fare and alot of history in and around to look at!"

"My third time here. I came on Valentines Day so my poor review may be a reflection of that. Food was not very good compared to in the past. Waiter was juvenile and not attentive. I live a few streets down from the restaurant, but I don't think I will be going back. Experience was a fail."
