Portofino Cucina Italiana brings the spirit of Italian gourmet culture to Los Angeles. Just like the city it is named after, Portofino blends tradition and simplicity to make you feel at home the second you walk through our door.
Inside you’ll find a selection of Italian dishes and amazing Italian wines, some of which are difficult to find in the U.S. For me the spirit of Italian hospitality means taking the invaluable traditions and taste of my hometown and sharing them with you through elegance and authenticity.
"used to live downtown at 5th & Spring, so many great restaurants to choose from in that area and this is one of them! I wish I would've known that they deliver! Carpaccio, ravioli & pinot noir <3"

"They didn't have my Open Table reservation, but I just whipped out my phone and put another one in that they honored. The kitchen closes on Friday night at 10p, and sure enough, someone walked in at 9:53p.....they were graciously welcomed and seated. The host/waiter was very attentive and friendly. This was our first time, I would recommend and is a place to re-visit."

"Portofino Cucina Italiana is a good restaurant with friendly service and good food. The pasta is delicious with a highlight on the Parpadelle pasta with Boar! Delicious and flavorful! The spaghetti con popette was also delicious. The only problem we had was with the fried calamari which was a bit chewy, overcooked perhaps? The location was not in the best area, close to "skid row," though to be fair it is an area that is being renovated with new cafes and bars opening very close. Overall, solid food but poor location."

"We had never heard of this place but wanted to try something new. We liked the reviews, menu, and pricing. Decided to give it a try with a friend before an evening theater engagement at the Taper. The neighborhood was better than expected, with a paid lot across the street. The wait staff was very attentive and the food very good. Wine prices were very reasonable, especially compared to what has become the norm in Los Angeles. No regrets. We will probably work it into our rotation, providing they survive economically."

"Portofino has really stepped up their game when it comes to customer service. The owner has always been personable and comes out to chat with customers. In the past, the waiter was always a bit surly and sports a phony accent. Surliness and accent are gone. He was both friendly and attentive. He casually makes comments to pointing out the best qualities of Portofino. Good positive reinforcement technique. Food was excellent, and arrived within 5 minutes. Then he started to oversell... he stated that all food is made to order. Sorry, not believable. Chicken breast and meatballs don't cook in 5 minutes. If not for the lie, I would have given 5 stars."

"Food was decent. Appetizer (mozzie, tomato, arugula and prosciutto) was great, and risotto was good but it took a long, long time for anything to be served."

"The food here is delicious and the husband and wife owners are so nice. They handmake their gnocchi and it is a far cry better than most gnocchi, which has been dried or frozen. It melts in your mouth! The chicken special last night which was stuffed with ricotta and spinach then wrapped in pancetta and served with a marsala wine sauce was beautifully flavorful. Love the charms of this little place."

"What a wonderful find on the edge of downtown!! We loved our experience, especially Diego's warm enthusiasm for the ingredients and his charming service. The food was absolutely delicious. This will be one of my new places!"
