Nico is a Western Mediterranean Bistro in the heart of one of America's best streets, the Delmar Loop. We work with local farmers to provide the best meals. We take great pride in making our breads, pastas and cheese in house. We are open for brunch, lunch and dinner 7 days a weeks and have a beautiful bar featuring hand crafted cocktails and beers, with an excellent wine list too, of course. Please join us soon!
"Really good food. We had a delicious artichoke soup to start and the warm marinated olives which were both great. Had a lovely seafood risotto and the seafood was perfectly cooked and plentiful. I would definitely come back."

"My son took my Sister and myself to Nico's for brunch. Food was excellent and fresh. You could tell care was taken with the presentation and the quality of ingriedients. Everything was fresh and seemed to be local. Service was very good. Was there when you needed but was not intrusive. We certainly plan on returning!"

"Enjoyed the small plate appetizers and shared the lamb burger. Our server arranged to split our salad and our burger, which made sharing much easier. It was fun to watch pedestrians walk by on Delmar, and I can see eating outside when the weather is a bit warmer."

"This place was just OK. They were out of a couple of the dinner items and the service was just OK. Nico wasn't bad, there are just too many other places I would rather go to before going back."

"Our first visit to Nico (soon after they opened) had been pretty disastrous: indifferent staff, poorly prepared food, and one entree that never ever came to the table. But this vist was a pleasant surprise: knowledgeable staff, weel-prepared food with seasonal accents, and appropriate pacing from the kitchen. The bruschetta with fresh young fava beans was wonderful, the seafood risotto was satisfying, and the lamb burger (while really messy) was delicious with Moroccan spices. We had debated never going back after the first visit, but now it's high on our return list."

"Great dishes - fresh and delicious! Love the atmosphere and that all the windows on the one wall give you a view of the vibrant street! Husband loved the hake and the lamb burger was the best I've had!"

"The food was good, but our service and the timing of the courses was off. We were very rushed. They brought out our entrees when we were less than halfway through our salads. Noting that we were still eating our salads, rather than take the entrees back to keep them warm, they just plopped them down next to the salad. So my entree was a bit cold. We also didn't get bread until we asked for it, (after our entrees came) though other tables got it before any dishes were served.
Our server also didn't know the ingredients in the drinks or dishes. She said he was new, but I think a moderately upscale restaurant has a responsibility to make sure their staff is educated on the menus."

"Food was ok, service left something to be desired. Starting off it was slow and awkward (ie: server asked? "You all ready?", response from us "Perhaps maybe some drinks first", her "oh okay, sure") We were excited to be there and hoped she would want to chat up the menu with us, nope just wanted to take our order. One of our steaks was overcooked, and we were never checked on, so we went to the bar to get some help. He was just leaning against the wall and was almost bothered by the fact that I had asked him to find a server. It made sense though because after all this, one would think a visit from a manager would be warranted. Never really saw a manager actually so it appears it just starts at the top..."

"I had heard really good things about this restaurant and was excited to try it. Unfortunately, I found it to be just okay. I ordered the steak sandwich and the meat was a little gristly. The parts that weren't gristly were tender and the overall flavor was good. The serving size for the fries that came with the sandwich was very small, maybe 7 french fries. My companions liked what they ordered; a lamb burger and a mixed green salad. I'm going to give this restaurant another try before I write it off as a lost cause."

"Trying something new out in the Loop...moderate prices for the area. Nice menu choices and excited for appetizer lobster special. food was all decent, but the best part was the homemade focaccia. Bouillabasse had flavorful broth but seafood is only as good as you can get in the Midwest. My orecchiette pasta dish was good but too salty and chicken tasted like it was precooked like you can buy at grocery store. If you purchase white wine by the bottle, there is no bucket available to keep chilled."

"While the food was good the ambiance was poor. The tables were too plain, no music. The manager came to see how we were doing wearing a flannel shirt, what? Our guests are big foodies and have been in the restaurant business for many years and complained about the experience. Sorry didn't do it for me."

"The food at Nico was fresh, creative, and delicious. My husband and I were in a bit of a rush since we had tickets for a concert later that night. When I told the waitress this, she put our order right in and our meal was brought to us shortly thereafter. We plan on returning to try their new seasonal menu."

"Wanting to try a new place, we checked out Nico on a Friday evening. Not too busy when we got there at 5:30pm, but things picked up for the later-dinner crowd which was encouraging. The special one-time menu they offered had some intriguing selections, we had a nice goat-cheese filled puff pastry to start. It'd be worth going back to see what other special menu items they offer if they change it often. Entrees were well portioned and very good for the price. Lamb burger was excellent."

"The menu read more exciting than the finished product proved to be. Unfortunately, plating service was too large for the table and for the portions. Our omelets were overcooked AND did not come with toast. We literally had to ask for everything we needed, i.e., s/p, butter, jelly, more coffee, etc. We were never asked if we needed anything. And, although the restaurant was not at all crowded for a Sunday brunch, service was very slow. With so many places to have brunch now, our party will probably not return, sad to say."

"Went for valentines day and it was totally fantastic. I am so happy it's in my neighborhood. The food was great - cooked and seasoned perfectly with wonderful textures and flavors - and the waitstaff was welcoming and helpful. The interiors were done quite nicely as well. Will definitely go back again - One of the best meals out I've had out in STL in a while."

"We went here last week for V_Day - From the food to the service to the physical aesthetics - it was a fantastic experience. The yellow tail tuna [off their v_day special menu] was great. Off the 'typical' menu we had the Duck Confit Empanadas and Sweet PotatoGnocchi - both outstanding. Surprisingly we liked Nico more then, it's more 'refined' brother, Franco - and that's saying something since we liked Franco's. We highly suggest giving this place a shot. You won't be disappointed. ...and don't forget to try the Jack Buck gin mix served in an ice cold copper cup."

"We ordered off the Valentine's menu, which I swore I would not do, but the entire menu was quite enticing. We were not disappointed. I had the fish and my husband had to lamb and both were delicious. The appetizer and dessert were both good, too. My one criticism is that the bread brought before the meal was almost inedibly salty. I say almost because, although I could only stand one piece, my husband polished it off!"

"Their fries are a MUST have! They have good food at a reasonable price, and nice service. It is an easy place to have a low key business lunch, without breaking the bank. Nico is so much better than the chain restaurant lunch options - I eat there about every other week!"

"The restaurant is located in a fun neighborhood and is easy to access. Parking is convenitne with street parking as well as valet parking. The decor is contemporat=ry and clasy, the service was excellent and the food was special. There were several menue items that you don't find at other restaurants but there were also some basics for those that don't like to try different things. Prices are very reasonable."

"This was our visit to Nico and I was positively impressed. The space is decorated simply but tastefully and the noise level is conducive to conversation (there was no music playing at the time so I don't know what it's like then). Everything we had was delicious: braised pork belly on lentils was outstanding and sufficient for a small meal; arugula salad with cod and grapefruit was also excellent. The bouillabaisse was tasty; the portion size was slightly smaller than I am used to, plenty for me but my appetite is on the small size. It would be fine to pair with a starter or salad. I will definitely return to Nico. If you want to eat in the Loop and feel like casual but refined dining, this is the place!"

"I went on a Monday night so the restaurant was very quiet which worked out great for a calm dinner for two, although it was chilly by the windows. All the appetizers looked tasty and we settled on the stuffed eggplant, which was oozing with cheese after cutting into it. I went with the Hake (meaty whitefish) which came with rice balls and vegetable terrine. The terrine had wonderful flavors while the fish and rice relied on a spicy sauce for flavor. My friend's lamb burger was very juicy and I would recommend that for sure. There were many other options I would love to go back and try for sure!"

"We were looking forward to trying Nico as we have always enjoyed Franco's. The ambience is very nice and the live music creates a great vibe. The service was impressive. We enjoyed our appetizers so much (scallops, hummus, duck empanada's) I think we were expecting the actual dinner to knock our socks off. While most of it was good (would definitely recommend trying the restaurant) it was not stellar. The bouillabaisse was weak to say the least. It listed scallops and there were none, the shrimp were on the small side and the broth was watery and lacking taste. This entree was recommended as a favorite from the server. The roasted chicken was good and the lamb burger was probably the best of the items ordered (according to our friend"

"The entire meal was wonderful from start to finish. The unusual menu items are exciting to work our way through. We had been there before for a lunch and had to return for dinner. We were amazed by the duck empenadas for an appetizer - the taste was as great as the presentation. We each ordered a different entree so we could share them both, but ended up sharing dessert we were so full (pistachio ice cream is truly the best around). We wll be back to continue to work our way through the other items on the menu. Finally, the server was perfect; she was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive without being annoying."
