"My second trip to Ella's was delightful. Creative menu with something for every palate (and wallet). Food was prepared expertly. Service was excellent. Nice list of wines by the glass. Best biscuits I've ever had. Highly recommend for nice dinner out with the family as well as special occasions."

"This new neighborhood restaurant has been very attractively appointed, so it is a shame that the food and service lag. Particularly troublesome to the kitchen is fish. Bland flavor with no seasoning was combined with a fishy old taste to the halibut special. The salmon replacement was overcooked and served with a dollop of pure prepared mustard. Another diner had a bland piece of tuna, much of it left on the plate. My plate of a Sardinian pasta called Fregula Sarda was served wtih the phrase, "Who has the couscous?" A side dish of supposedly truffle salted fries came with only salt and no truffle essence whatsoever as if I would not notice. Go have a drink and eat bar snacks. Save your dinner budget for another venue."

"This was Main Line Restaurant week and used this menu. For the first course I had a beet salad. For the second course I ordered a reuben sandwich but also came with another salad on the plate. Too much salad. Upon leaving The hostess asked if everything was okay. I explained about the salad, which Ashe said someone complained about the previous day. She said the waiter was to give us a choice of French fries, which he did not do. I have even to Ella's many times and was never disappointed."

"Service is impeccable and the food truly is outstanding. Entrees were scallops for me and cassoulet for my guy. The specials list is long, by design. Perfection. We'd had drinks and appetizers at Ella's previously (cheese board, shrimp, red bordeaux)--at the bar, or a small table in front. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, which is relaxed and friendly but at the same time clearly supported by very high standards, and high quality of food and service. On our first visit, the owner was at the next table and was very solicitous, making sure we were happy and taken care of, as if we were valued guests in his home. We are fortunate to live close by; we'll return often."

"my husband and I moved to Wayne PA last summer. We found this gem, Ella's tucked away in a grocery store strip of shops and were pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was, once we stepped inside. That was just the start --- the menu is incredible and the food is outstanding. This is our favorite dining spot, our go-to place for special occasions and as far as we are concerned, the best restaurant in the area!"

"Wasn't happy when I got a call the night before my Saturday night reservation (which had been made more than two weeks earlier) to request that we change our reservation from 7:00 to 6:30 or 7:30 because "someone" had overbooked. I was told a 7:30 reservation would be more expeditious for my party. Whatever. The promised free drinks were not provided, nor was there any mention of our helpfulness in their situation. Not impressed."

"Service was uneven...slow early on, and later, when they probably wanted us to leave, wait staff were swarming, pouring tap water in our sparkling water glasses, looking askance when I asked for a second glass of wine. The menu wasn't particularly imaginative and was filled with entrees I don't associate with such an attractive place or a nice evening out: Cod. Pork. Porketta. Lamb shoulder. My salmon had a mushy texture, which I chose to keep quiet about. I doubt we'll ever go back."

"Great place! Since it is a bistro I was expecting something that was a bit more relaxed so I wore blue jeans. I was still relaxed but felt a bit under dressed for the food I was presented with. There waere a few people at the bar who were wearing jeans as well so I wasn't the only one but this place turned out to be a bit more upscale; fine dining at a reasonable cost. That is not a bad thing."

"I remembered seeing this place driving by the shopping center but never heard anything about it. I was surprised at the quality & creativity of the food.
Did the 4 course Chef's Tasting & it was delightful! First course was black cracked pepper over shrimp & asparagus. Second course was mixed greens salad w/ pomegranate, almonds, croutons, roasted and salted garbanzo beans that were crispy & delicious. Main course was a small steak of wild boar. WOW, so delicious & flavorful served with pureed mashed potatoes. Fabulous dessert chocolate cupcake with raspberry drizzle and a scoop of raspberry sorbet on a vanilla cookie!"

"Ella's is highly UNDERrated. Food was outstanding. Service was excellent and sharp. Great ambiance and very accomodating staff. They get busy on the later side of 7:00/7:30pm - if you like to really take your time and enjoy your night, get there early and enjoy a quiet, relaxing drink at the bar with the friendly bar staff. Some reviews said portions were small - not so. We were completely sated and went home with leftovers. We ordered a variety of things and shared. There wasn't a dish we didn't like. I haven't enjoyed food, service and ambiance like this in the Western suburbs in a long time."

"Ella's menu always has interesting choices for the more daring diner, as well as more standard fare. The food is consistently very good with some dishes better than others-of course. Recently they offered a "blanquette de veau" with white rice and creme fraiche. I was thrilled to see my favorite French dish which is not often on many menus, but stumped by the all white plate presentation. When I inquired about any veggies, there were little white onions. My husband loved the dish but I was put off by this white thing, preferring to have some good veggies. Which is another point: the entrees are really not meant to stand alone. With a veggie appetizer, for example, the blanquette de veau would not have seemed incomplete."
