Newly remodeled water front restaurant with incredible views of Ventura Harbor and the most stunning sunsets anywhere in Southern California. Fresh seafood from the fishing boats to our kitchens and moderately priced for our customers.
"I've been to this restaurant 5 maybe 6 times and they are always out of something that I've ordered, for both lunch and dinner. The new Chef is terrific , the food is good the service is good, but they are always out of items on the menu. Because they've been open for a short time I'm hoping it will get better."

"i couldn't have been more disappointed. I called and was told that it is a buffet brunch and that they were going to charge me $15 per child my children are 1 and 4 and eat about $15 of food in two days let alone one meal! They were nice enough to say we will only charge you $10 for one child... But when the bill came it was for $15, so i paid, but it is the principle of saying you are going to do one thing and you do another. When we first arrived we were about 10 minutes early and we were quickly escorted out of the restaurant by a very rude lady letting us know that they were not open until 10. At that point i would have left but it was mothers day. Very poor!!!How unorganized can it get!!! Will never go back to that place again."

"The selection for brunch was quite good, including delicious prime rib and an omelette bar. The dessert buffet was a little lacking, there weren't a lot of options, but everything else was quite good. The unlimited mimosas that came with our meal were nice since it was Mother's Day, but it seemed odd that my brother, who is underage, was charged for ordering orange juice without the champagne when mimosas are included in the cost. The service was good and they were quick with bringing our drinks out whenever we asked."

"My nephew and I took my sister out for Mother's Day Brunch the food was great. We were seated right away but the hostess made it to obvious to a couple of the waitstaff that she went to go talk to that she was talking about our group since they all turned around to look at us then started giggling."

"I have eaten at the rhumb line several times and it has been good. When we went Saturday I had the best meal ever, please try their double pork chop, excellent meal. I brought over half of it home, the most moist cooked to order chop ever."

"I had made reservations & called to request a window seat. We were placed at very small table in center of restaurant & even though we offered to wait we were told that seat was our only option. There were 4 tables at the window that nobody ever sat at the entire evening.
The staff was very nice & friendly but needed more help. It was not properly staffed for a busy weekend.
The food was okay. My beet salad was not great, I wanted to return it but our waitress was too busy. She was a doll but too overloaded to serve us properly. Not her fault.
The music was wonderful & The entree was delicious. But I will not return during a busy weekend or for a special occasion."

"The sides and appetizers tasted as though they came out of the frozen food section at Ralph's. The main dishes were at best decent. The Happy Hour redeemed the rating from horrible to fair/good."

"Second visit to Rhumb Line, and was a little disappointed that the menu has some items crossed off - the Raw Bar apparently no longer has lobster or crab. The oysters were good. The scallop entree was good, but the saffron jasmine rice was dry, and seemed like it had been sitting on the stove all day. The grilled salmon and mashed potatoes were excellent. Dessert was a homemade berry granola bar, which was average. The "pain killer" cocktail was good, as was my husband's martini. It was a Tuesday night and only a few tables filled, so the service should have been excellent, but it was average. I'm hoping that this restaurant intends to stay in business, as my first visit there about 6 months ago was excellent."

Our reservations were honored, and we sat at a lovely table overlooking the harbor. Service was very good, too. However, we all ordered the evening's special: paella. There was one clam, two shrimp, two pieces of salmon, and lots of rice in ours. The andouille sausage was missing altogether. While the dish was tasty, it lacked the main ingredient: more seafood, especially from a restaurant that specializes in seafood. We'd all eaten paella in Spain last year, and it contained abundant amounts of fish and sausage. Rhumb Line missed on this dish."

"This was an early Sunday dinner... When we first sat down there was a piano player banging on the keyboard verrry loud, and verrry bad... It was AWFUL!!!... but.. Our excellent server, Brad, assured us that "the concert" would end at 5pm, and it did (thank God...or we would have cut our dinner short)... We had a fabulous corner table, with a gorgeous view of sunset over the harbor... I started with a properly prepared classic French onion soup, followed by a huge bowl of succulent mussels... My husband had a big hearty bowl of New England clam chowder followed by crab cakes... We shared a yummy beet salad and wine with the latter course... The entire meal consisted of appetizer courses, but it was plenty... We'll definitely be back!!"

"I have been to Rhumb line several times and the location is great along with the service. This time we went to dinner and I had sea bass over polenta that had great flavor but I felt the seabass was slightly overcooked. My boyfriend and I loved the his filet mignon especially the sauce. The appetizers of ceviche and crabcakes were okay and actually both agreed the crabcakes felt mushy."

"Great location overlooking the harbor. The sea bass was flavorful, moist, and cooked per my request instead of blackened as stated on the menu. The chef came out onto the floor to check diners for feedback. The entire staff worked to insure guest satisfaction. We'll be back!"

"We are repeat customers, but this time it was not that good. Se bass was very dry and the Salmon was very well cooked. We were disappointed. The view, even on a foggy night was excellent. The music was acceptable, however the singer had a very shrilled voice at time."

"Pleasantly surprised with my second visit. The clam chowder was very good, as was the sandwich. I would like to see more of a selection of breads, as I'm trying to stay away from white bread. All-in-all, a very nice lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday! She also was happy with her choice."

"I like this restaurant. It's at the harbor, and you can watch the boats going in and out. Piano bar-type dining area in part of the restaurant. Sometimes live music. Good service, and the people who work there are very nice. I've only eaten here for dinner, but heard that the brunch/lunch is good."

"The three of us were disappointed. The food was just okay, the least appetizing was my husband's dinner of chicken with a marinara on a bed of penne. The sauce was just plain. The service was about the same, our waiter tried but was not efficient. The place is lovely including the interior decor with a beautiful view of the harbor. It's really too bad the place lacks in food and service. We dine out quite often and will not return for dinner...perhaps an appetizer with a glass of wine to view the scenery but that's all."

"The Rhumb Line is nice. We like going there for the scenery-watching the Marina activity as well as the sun setting. The wine list is simple, short and good. The beers are plenty of options, draft as well as bottled. The Prince mussels are great, the crab cakes are good.Shrimp cocktail is a little different and very good. Prices are ok. Service is outstanding."

"Rhumb Line is one of those restaurants that you love everytime you go there but then say, why do I forget about it? It is tucked in to the Ventura Harbor on the opposite side of all the businesses. You go through a residential area to get to it, but end up with the most beautiful view and most delectible foods! The menu has a medium amount of choices, but a wide variety. We left very happy and satisfied."

"We drove from Los Angeles. Wonderful food, servers were great. Loved the live music performers. Down side was we had trouble finding the restaurant and the sign in the front was not lighted, we would have saved some time searching if it was. Overall very good, we will be back for sure."

"The service is incredible and the view is really nice, especially at sunset. The food is very middle of the road. The appetizers are not tasty since they are so covered in cheese and sauces.
We ate only appetizers and soup for dinner. The French Onion Soup was tasty but salty. The oysters casino had little flavor. The lobster mac and cheese was too salty and watery.
There was a banquet sized group in the main dining room that made it impossible to have a conversation due to the noise level. The bar is next to the dining room and only adds to the noise levels."

"The hostess and waitress were very nice and made us feel warm and special. The food was good, but not spectacular. The deserts were terrible, the Creme Brulee was tasteless and seemed like it had been around a few days, when we sent it back and got the Red Velvet cake, we didn't eat much of it either...didn't seem fresh, again seemes like it had been refridgerated a few days(still cold when it was served). The wine selections were very nice!"
