"This was our first visit to Billy's and we absolutely loved it. The dinner was fantastic. My wife loved the crab cakes and I really enjoyed the prime rib. The service was very fast, and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. This is the kind of place where you want to become a "regular"."

"Having never experienced Billy's, I was not exactly sure what to expect. I must say that they met my expectations and then some. Food selection/quality was excellent for their Mother's Day brunch, and service was very friendly and attentive. Such a variety of food choices was a huge plus for my diverse party, and there was definitely something for everyone.. I made my reservations on line and the process was flawless. They were even able to honor my special request of a window table. Thanks for a job well done, and I look forward to my next visit to Billy's Roanoke."

"Had a pre Mother's Day Brunch and everything was great. Service was professional and terrific. Food was very good and reasonably priced. I would definitely go there again. I want to "Do Lunch" with the girls on the interior open air patio."

"Very convenient for meeting out of town visitors. Good setting and ambiance. Service was good. Food not so, Turkey Wrap was dry and plain while the Crab Cake Sandwich was unpleasant. Still like the place but hope to make better choices on the menu next time and will think twice before taking out-of-town guests there."

"What a great place to eat lunch and watch the world go by! We were seated by the window, our server was lovely and the hostess pointed us in the direction of some fantastic museums.

"I am from Roanoke and work for Maple Leaf Bakery. The last few times we have had our counter parts from Canada come down to visit our bakery in Roanoke I always suggest going to Billy's. So far the last few people that have come from Canada and have ate at Billy's rave to there folks in Canada how great the food is and the wide variety of wine and beer you all have. So anytime anyone comes down I always take them to Billy's. The waitress's you all have are always so sweet and that makes a huge difference too. We had Teresta (sp?) She was wonderful. I have had some other female waitress's and they also have done great job. Also the hostess's are always very nice."

"Recommended Billy's to my aunt for entertaining her son and his new finance for dinner with the family recently. My aunt and her two children have always been "mall" eaters and rarely venture outside of the Valley View Mall area when it comes to chosing a dining establishment. To my surprise, and I believe theirs too, Billy's met and far exceeded their expectations for food, atmosphere, service, and quality. We had ten for dinner and had exceptional service and the food, without a doubt, was delicious. They are already talking about eating there again when my cousin and his bride-to-be are back in the Star City."

"This was our fourth trip to 'the new Billy's.' Unfortunately, it wasn't up to snuff with our previous experience. The thick ribeye that I'd had in the past had morphed into something half as thick with far more 'marbling' than its forebears. Inasmuch as the ribeye is what motivated us to go there this time, it was a letdown.

FWIW, before our latest visit, a long-time Roanoke resident had told me that she's heard "not-good reviews" of 'the new Billy's.' Though I defended Billy's then, I cannot do so now. Last fall, one of its principals had described the new restaurant to me as "Frankie Rowland's without the price gouge.' It was indeed. Now, however, value has decreased, but the price remains unchanged."

"While our service was excellent (our waitress super nice and checked on us often), it took forever to get our food. The manager did bring us complimentary champagne and dessert to make up for it. The friend we were dining with (who works downtown) said the reason they don't go to Billy's for lunch anymore was because it took so long to get the food out.

When our meal did arrive, it was ok. Definitely not worth what we paid for it nor the wait to get it. There was a band playing across the street which we could hear, but it wasn't overwhelming. However the acoustics in the dining room are not ideal, so it did get pretty loud but the atmosphere was nice."

"We took our son and daughter-in-law out to celebrate her birthday. We could not have chosen a better place for dinner! We had a great 3-cheese dip for a starter, and then house salads----all good. We ordered two beef fillets, a rib-eye, and a New York strip. The steaks were incredible! Billy's wine list offered a nice variety as well. Our waitress, Tiffany, was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and attentive. Towards the end of our dinner, she brought complimentary flutes of champagne and a delicious white chocolate cheesecake that we ordered for dessert-----best ever. We will definitely go back to Billy's, and soon!"

"Without a doubt, the best pork chop out I've ever ordered. Double-cut, bourbon glazed and grilled to perfection (medium), it was paired with smoked cheddar mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I also ordered a side salad with restaurant-made honey pecan vinaigrette dressing. A great meal and a great place to entertain business guests from out of town. Each of the four from different major cities around the US (New York City, NY; Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; and Los Angeles, CA) They were all equally impressed as well with the small, hometown feel with the big city vibe. Two of our guests had seafood. The one from LA, who is privi to fresh, off the water seafood, said the oysters were some of the best she'd ever had."

"This was our first visit to Billy's and we were there to celebrate a birthday. It was a snowy Sunday evening, but there were still lots of customers. Service was good, but the meal could have been better. We ordered prime rib and crab cakes. The food was warm, but not hot. I wish the prime rib had been more flavorful. I'd give the meal a 7 on a scale from 1 to 10. We'll give it another try, but we expected better food."

"The whole dining experience was exceptional. We both enjoyed the glazed pork chops. The "smashed potatoes" were so delicious. Service was excellent and we felt the staff really enjoyed serving us. We did not have to wait long at all for the food to arrive. The food actually looked quite elegant and the atmosphere was just delightful. My daughter also enjoyed a glass of wine, which she said was very good."

"I was concerned in the begginning after hearing from a friend that the food was not as good at the begginning of the week due to the better chefs not being there till end of week when it is busier. I do have to say everyone loved the restaurant and the food was great! They all were glad I had picked out the restaurant for the occassion. Some of the individuals were from Canada and raved about it the next day. The other few people were from Richmond and said they would have to come back to Roanoke just to come back to Billy's for another dinner in the future.

I had been to Billy's prior to this event several other times and the food had always been good too. I had usually been toward the end of the week."

"We had three in our party. The dinner for two of us was undercooked and had to be sent back, leaving one of us with a dinner to either eat alone or let it get cold. The 'grouper' that one of our party had was a very thin filet, unlike any grouper experienced on the past. Made us question whether the entre was really the fish advertised.

The manager said he would make it up to us when the two dishes had to be sent back. That meant at the end of the meal one desert was sent for the three of us to share. It was a hollow gesture. We felt at least one of the entres should have been removed from the bill.

We enjoy fine dining; this was far from fine dining and we do not plan to eat there again."

"If you're looking for a vibrant night out with friends, Billy's is your place. It's centrally located in downtown Roanoke, but is one block off of the main drag so you're not distracted by happenings outside the window. 202 Market and the main square are visible from your table, and parking for Billy's is much better than the other downtown eateries.

Service? Excellent. Try the Sweet Potato Fries. Wine List? Fantastic. Don't miss this spot!"

"Billy's Ritz is a very nice restaurant. Even with some problems at the beginning, it turned out to be a very pleasant evening. The hostesses were very disorganized. We had to wait to be seated but were finally taken to an empty back dining room to a table for 2. We asked for at a table for 4, but the hostesses refused because of reservations. However, there were still tables for 4 available, when we left. The manager came to our table during the meal and was VERY apologitic. We received a complimentary dessert for our trouble. The food was very good. The salads were huge. I would recommend splitting one between 2 people."

"we ate upstairs for dinner on Valentines evening. The setting was quiet as we had requested. The waiter was pretentious. He told my wife that she looked tense and worried. He told us he didnt like our wine selection. he acted overly familiar and we did not appreciate his attitude.
The ceasar salad was bland and tasteless. It could have been served with bread and could have been somewhat improved if we had been offered black pepper. The crab cakes were delicious but could have been better served with a little more sauce. My wife's fish dish was good and for both plates the veggies were prepared very nicely.
For Valentines, a tablecloth would have been nice. The rose for my wife was a nice touch."

"My first time to Billy's, but I will certainly return! Our server was very attentive, congenial and thorough... and the manager additionally, as we learned he took note of our dining experience. The food was fabulous - I don't think I've ever eaten such a good alfredo sauce, and in combination with the most tender, flavorful lobster meat... I was almost euphoric while enjoying my meal! Also, kudos to the great music playing that created a fine Valentine's Day dining experience.... classy Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra always compliments such an occasion. Definitely worth a visit!"

"Our waitress was outstanding. I do not remember her name but she was very pleasant and helpful. We brought our infant to dinner, which made us a little nervous, but she set our minds at ease by being so nice to us."
