"Dinner here during the week was just perfect... in between reservations at some big name places (French Laundry and The Restaurant at Meadowood), we wanted something simpler. Carpe Diem was perfect - good food, great hospitality, and attentive service. Stephanie was bubbly and lovely, the perfect hostess who made us feel very welcome. The food was very good - truffle fries and cheese and charcuterie (the salmon rillettes was amazing). The mushroom flatbread with duck egg was also great. Nice wine list with good representation of local wines. We left sated and happy."

"Following in the footsteps of many reviewers, my husband and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at Carpe Diem during our visit to Napa. Although mid-week, the restaurant was full. We were interested in trying wines by the glass to experiece as many local wines as possible. Our server recommend wines to accompany each of the courses we chose. They coordinated well with the delicious meal. I enjoyed the local flavour the chef added to each creation; a hint of licorice with the lamb tenderloin and Isreali couscous was very refreshing. The tables in the restaurant are quite close together (very Italian) and we enjoyed an impromptu conversation with another couple seated next to us but were still able to have a private meal. Kudos!"

"I found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to give it a go. We weren't disappointed. The meals we chose were delicious and I read recently that if you'd order the same item again, then it was a memorable evening. We both said that we would! I enjoyed a flight of white wine, which was fun. I would both go again and recommend to friends."

"We seem to come here for our special occasions, but really, it's great for all occasions or a Tuesday night out (which we did during the 14-hour days of harvest last year)! Wine list is thoughtful, food is delicious, and the servers are warm and friendly. The bar (beer & wine only) is smallish but well done. Flatbreads and salads are delicious! Menu is seasonal. Highly recommend!"

"We had a good meal although not what we expected to eat from the menu we saw on open table that led us to book at carpe diem. The actual menu was missing the three items that we were lookin forward to. Much of the rest of the menu was the same as what was in open table but the prices were different, both lower and higher, by a few dollars. The waitress wasn't helpful or interested in the menu discrepancy or our inquiry whether those items might still be available. She just told us that they were never on the menu even after we showed her that they were listed on open table and may have been on the menu before."

"A typical Napa wine bar with an excellent selections of the grape. But the big surprise is that the food is exceptional. A hidden treasure. Everything from the nibbles to the generous main courses will pleasantly surprise. The wild mushroom flatbread and their signature ostrich burger are simply amazing. "Excellent food and great atmosphere. Service was very friendly. Only criticism is with the server's suggestion of the ostrich burger as their signature item and "must have". It tasted like a moist hamburger. Not bad, but not worth the price or hype. I would have rather tried one of the other items on the menu as my wife's short-ribs were outstanding and I am sure some of the other items would have been also.
The Beerimisu was AWESOME!"

"The dinner menu had a nice selection of hearty fare, along with a nice wine list. We had the barrata appetizer (tasty, the mozzarella was lovely, the bread a little too chewy), two salads (underwhelming/forgettable) and an ostrich burger (delicious, interesting flavo, lovely truffle french fries on the side). Service was pleasant and efficient and the location is quite nice. The biggest weakness in the menu is the lack of vegetarian options or vegetable-heavy starters or sides."

"We came here to celebrate my birthday and the food was phenomenal. We ordered the meat and cheese platter to start off with and the braised short-rib and the Piggily Wiggily flat-bread. The server brought champagne for all of us when we got seated. We were there early around 5, and it got pretty packed by the time we ended our dinner. The service was great and we were treated very special. They also ended our dinner with an ice-cream dessert with a candle. A wonderful dinner experience! Highly recommended."

"Saw many reviews rating this the #1 spot in Napa, but didn't feel that way when we visited. The food is overrated and not that exceptional. We were there on a Friday night and there weren't any fish specialties which is what I look for on a Friday during lent. The service was great. Wished I would have known about their happy hour before we sat in the dining room."

"Great find in downtown Napa. Carpe Diem is an intimate restaurant near the river with terrific food and friendly service. Great appetizers and salads, and the braised short ribs were among the best I've ever had! An easy walk to the Opera House or Uptown Theatre for concert-goers."

"We went here for my 24 year old sons and it was fabulous! We started with the duck tacos, delicious. Then my husband and I split an ostrich burger with fries. The burger was so moist and juicy and the fries, truffle & Parmesan, we're probable the best fries I've ever had."

"Went for the first time with a friend on a friday night at 6:00. We had the House Fries, Goat Cheese Dip, and Ostrich Burger, we split the food. We each had a flight of red wine. We had a great time, the food was fabulous. The server was awesome, she was very smart at knowing the menu and wines. Although the place is a little crowded because the tables are really close to each other, would love to see a bigger place but this will do, great atmosphere. LOVE this place, we are going back tonight."

"It was a Monday night, but every table was filled! The food is mostly very creative small plates, so my husband and I shared a flatbread (Kobe meatball), Mozzarella cheese plate, fried greed olives (interesting!), and the Cabernet Short rib. The short rib was AMAZING with root veggies and polenta!!! I highly recommend it! Next time I'll try the brussel sprout flatbread. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful regarding the menu and wine list. They have a very large selection of wines and beers. They made sure our glasses were always full and the food kept coming!"
