"We were supposed to be in New Orleans for my birthday but had to cancel the trip. I still got my birthday Muffaletta!! Thanks to this gem. We will go back. Service was amazing!!"

"Willing staff, congenial servers, good bar, (cocktail & raw) but misses the mark on few levels. Paper napkins are off-putting at a $60 pp dinner; disappointing side of fries, more McDonald's than Jamison's or Tasty on Alder's; scant choices of table condiments, salt & pepper on request delivered in toy shakers (seasoning sea salt & fresh pepper would be better). Deep fried soft shell crab and frog legs O.K., optional saute would be sweet. This 2nd visit confirmed The Parish is just convenient."

"If you love oysters on the half shell, this is your place. Has up to 10 varieties from Maine to Washington to Alaska (and several from Oregon). Go during happy hour and get the type of the day for roughly half price. If you love Creole style, this is also your place. Appropriately spicy but not overly so. Tables by the windows (Parish is a corner restaurant with lots of windows) give you great people watching entertainment and outdoor sidewalk bistro tables expand that experience. Cool curved bar."

"Seven of us dined at The Parish Saturday night. We all shared dishes and the only stinker was the soft shell crab. Little crab a lot of bread. The other dishes were good. The noise level was high and the place wasn't full. Maybe some ceiling baffles would help."

"We actually loved the food. Service could NOT be improved, really outstanding. The music was a little loud for my brother and the party was in his honor. It really wasn't too loud for the rest of us. I guess you can't please everyone. We are from Louisiana so it was very homey to us.
We will be back!"

"We love New Orleans style food and were not disappointed. The fresh and baked oysters were excellent as was the jambalaya and fried chicken. Maybe best of all was the bread pudding which was the best I have ever tasted. Good beer and cocktail selection and great service. We will be back!"

"I was in Portland visiting for a few days and had three great meals, and this was one of them!! Also at at Ned...whatevers, and a great BBQ place. I love cajun food--and everything was great!! Oysters, spinach, and the bread pudding!! Yummm! I wish someone would just serve rabbit like they do in France..."

"For a Pearl District restaurant, the prices were reasonable and the food was good. This cajun/creole restaurant had a lot of creativity on the menu, as well as traditional dishes. Nice selection of house cocktails as well."

"The Hopping John's entree was outstanding. It was both flavorful and filling, the perfect dish after a long hard day of working, traveling and stressing. A dish that reminds me of home in the Bayou. It is definitely one of my new comfort foods."

"I felt that this place was ok, not the best place that I have ever been to eat. Drinks were super skimpy for the price, plus this was not communicated to me, as I feel that it should be. The portion size was a little on the small side. I got the Soft Shell Crab Sandwich, figuring that I would get a hole crab, and it was a half. The frog legs were way small, not comparable to anything that I have had anywhere else, including down in the south. The pork cheek was over sauced, so there for the flavor of a great cheek was masked. Plus part to this dinner, was the fried chicken that my In-Laws got to eat, and the french fries. Really the only pluses that I have for this experience. Probably will not return, as I left unsatisfied and wanting more"

"Last Friday was at least our third dinner at The Parish, which is becoming one of our favorite restaurants. From the Oysters Rockefeller to the roasted brussels sprouts, shrimp etouffee and the grand finale, pecan pie, everything was perfectly prepared and the service was first rate."

"Nothing great. Food was overpriced and small portions. Oyster selections were good, but go during happy hour and save. Service was knowledgeable and accommodating."

"The baked oysters were amazingly delicious - all three variations had something wonderful! The pleasant surprise were the ribs my friend ordered on the small plates. Wowee they were delicious. Po' Boy was slightly above average and the soft crab sandwich was tasty."

"This was my third or so trip to The Parish, and it consistently been a wonderful experience. As in the past, our service was friendly and efficient, and got us out the door in time to make our play at Portland Center Stage. The southern fried chicken and red beans and rice were the hits of the table (one our group commented that that his dish was the best red beans and rice he'd ever had, including in New Orleans), but there were no losers in the group."

"I was not impressed with my first visit to The Parish. Portions were small. I ordered the skewered shrimp dinner plate and received four.... that's it. No starch, no veggie.... just four small skewers. On the positive side, the shrimp were fresh and had a nice zippy flavor. Probably won't be going back."
