Benihana - Minneapolis
Anyone can prepare a meal. We perform it. At Benihana, our chefs have a flair for putting on a show. In the 10,400 square foot restaurant chefs will flip shrimp and slice steak at very high speeds much like that of a Samurai Warrior. Seven minutes from downtown and fifteen minutes from the famous Mall of America, the performance has never tasted better.

"We went to Benihana for the first time for my son's 17th birthday. We were a party of 5 with kids ages 17, 14, and 9. We all LOVED it. My son even commented that he ate mushrooms and onions and normally he wouldn't do that. Our chef was funny and entertaining and our server was very prompt. We spent more money than we normally would on dinner but we left absolutely stuffed and had leftovers to bring home, too. Highly recommended."

"The food was delicious. The people sitting next to me and my guest were too loud, we couldn't hear each other and we were sitting next to each other. The prices are way too high. I didn't appreciate that there was a mandatory 18 percent gratuity tacked on to my bill. The waitress didn't earn it at all, and why would she try when she was already getting that much of a tip no matter what."

"I have gone to benihanas many times but ussually to the maple grove location. I mat never go back to the minneapolis location. The waitress was awesome and was on top of her game. The chef thpugh must not have taste buds. He put sooooooo much pepper on everything it was all you could taste. Way over the top and unfortunately we the customers suffered from this mistake."

"Went for the first time for my birthday with a few friends and had no clue what to expect. First of all, 30 dollars ain't too shabby. And minus the guy sitting next to us who had been there who like an 8 year old kept saying what all the tricks were before they were done, the service was excellent and fun! Alejandro is my boy. On top of the great service, the food was incredible. I will definitely be returning!"

"I really had a great time visiting with my parents and brother. I had not been since I was a little kid in kindergarten but we went to celebrate my college graduation. We visited during lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. While the portions were not as large as I would have liked the taste was fantastic and the show entertaining which compensated for the price. Even though we made reservations they don't seat you until your whole party is present which was a little disappointing since one of us was about 10 minutes late and we ended up having to wait another half an hour to be seated. But overall it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed my experience."

"Our chef was awesome and the food was fantastic, as usual. Our sever was marginal and we were unfortunate to sit next to a very loud table with inappropriate language and we had children at our table. Not the restaurants fault at all but that is something to remember about the atmosphere there. You hear your neighbors more than the average restaurant and the atmosphere is just louder in general so if you like a quiet environment this isn't the place, unless you reserve on of their private rooms."

"We had a reservation for 9 for a birthday party at 7:30; a few of us arrived early and were told to wait until the entire group was there. No big deal except for when the group rest of our group did arrive, we were told we had to wait even longer. Once we were able to sit, we sat at a hibachi table; some did that, a few of us got sushi. We waited over 80 minutes for dinner - and the sushi didn't come until after the hibachi food had been served - we had to ask for the sushi to be delivered. We received excuses that they were busy - that is understood, but waiting nearly 90 minutes after we sat down for food is inexcusable. Very disappointed in the customer service we received from the time we walked in until we left."

"Great dining experience. Once we were seated and placed our order, the real show began!! We had two children with our party who were mesmerized by the chef's skill in preparing the meal. Be aware that this is not a fast dining experience. It took two-hours from waiting to be seated until we were finished with dessert."

"Almost didn't go, but glad we did. My last memory of Benihana in Golden Valley was a dark, tired restaurant that had seen better days. We wanted to take our Finnish exchange student to a Japanese steakhouse for his 18th birthday and was about to choose another location when a friend said that Benihana GV had been recently remodeled. I was very pleasantly surprised...bright and new the restaurant exceeded my expectations. My family had a great time and my exchange student really enjoyed the experience. Great job Benihana!"

"Terrible. We made an opentable reservation that was positive and mentioned previous good experiences. We called to let them know we were running late, and they said that "there was nothing he could do" if we were more than a half hour late, because "the machine won't let us." When we got there, luckily only 24 minutes late, there was plenty of space. They didn't read our reservation note, which stated we were getting a special "sushi for two" date (using a coupon they sent us!) and wanted a quiet, out of the way place with our daughter. They tried to seat us in the grill area, then were rude when we requested a booth, making us feel unwelcome. Had to ask for napkins, water, silverware. They made us feel uncomfortable about their own coupon!"

"I hadn't been to Benihana's for years - this trip was for my sister's birthday. We had a group of 8 adults, so we just fit at a hibachi table. While it was quite noisy, so you could only talk to people on your end of the table, we had a great time. The chef was very entertaining and the food was plentiful and delicious. It is pricey, but I didn't mind because I left quite full with leftovers for the next day. I will definitely be back."

"I used to go to Bennihana frequently when I worked near this location. Now I work for, so I haven't been there in a while. I was pleasantly surprised by the improvements that have been made inside. Very clean and fresh freeling.
However, the staple, shrimp sauce doesn't taste the same. It tastes more like the sauce at Osaka, which is sweeter. Not an improvement. I was disapointed in that.
Also - I know they like to fill the table, I get that. Out table was filled and then 2 persons decided to eat at the table instead, so they made our table wait until 2 more people came in who could fill our table. We waited about 10 minutes. Not acceptable. We were there over a lunch hour and ended up having to rush eating to get to work on time."

"The waitress was terrible!!! My family has been to many different Benihanas and this was by far our worst experience! I waited almost 10 min for water, that I had to asked to be refilled. The waitress slammed down anoth guest's salad so hard a piece of actually fell out.
As our chef walked away, the waitress started to hand out togo boxes, we just got received our food. She never offered my children ice cream, that comes with their kids meals. Basically, she just wanted to get us out of there!

"We chose an week night thinking it would be quieter. We were wrong it was extremely busy and extremely noisey. We had a good time, but really could not talk to each other. Our Cook Kenny made it good for us. and as always the waitress was awesome. Thanks"

"1 Hour late on Reservations....Sat in the bar until after 8PM on a 7PM Reservation....
People were walking out without dinner......had to forgo our 9:40PM Movie....Very slow
service, waited for out check and didn't get done until 10PM.....empty tables but no
help or cooks available.....Expensive Food & Poorly managed....Japanese Manager (Man)
avoided customers complaining."
