"This was the best trip to Benihana EVER. The service was amazing. Six of my family members and I came to Benihana to celebrate my dads and my girlfriends birthday. Our waiter Kien made the experience so much fun and enjoyable. Everyone had such a good time. Eduardo our chef prepared the food. He has to be the best chef ever. The food was so flavorful. Everything was cooked to perfection. We cannot wait to come back."

"This trip to Benihana's was the best. We both tried an alcoholic beverage and ordered sushi as an appetizer. First time either of us had any of those things at Benihana's. Totally worth the extra cost. We were also treated to an ice cream sundae for 2, because it was our anniversary. My only complaint, is that the server was going to do the embarassingly loud celebration song with drums, singing, and a tamborine, without even asking first. When we requested that it not occur (my boyfriend is a veteran and still has trouble with public displays like that) the sever was very insistent, almost to the point of badgering us. It ended ur experience on a very uncomfortable and aggravated note."

"I had never been but my son wanted to go for his 13th birthday. Our family went and we had a blast. The chef(Koo) was very nice, funny and personable. Our waiter was wonderful but I do not remember his name(black guy with light beard). The food was awesome and the service was great. I'll definitely be back!!!!!"

"did the online reservation which worked good. But when we got to the restaurant we still had to wait 10 - 15 minutes for our hibachi table, even though no one was sitting there when we got there (on time for our reservation) and we took up the whole table.(didn't have to wait for others to fill)"

"I made reservations for my graduation dinner of 5. First, the hostess were unprofessional. They did not greet any of the customers when they walked in.It seemed as if they have an attitude.Our waitress never checked on us and it took about 40 minutes upon us sitting at the table for us to get a chef.It look her about 30 minutes to even tell us about the long wait for the chef.Toward the end of the dinner my mother mentioned to the waitress that we did not get enough food and she responded well that was the head chef he goes by the books and went to get the manager. All she had to do was apologize and let us know why. Instead she responded with a smart remark and immediately called for the manager who then did not address the complaint"

"I enjoyed my first experience at Benihana's with my wife. We were very fortunate to have a entertaining chef that capture everyone's attention and was serving up good food, a little to much on the garlic butter, a great place for a group of friends to gather, a very nice wine list also a very nice menu to select from. Bring about $100 to really enjoy the menu."

"I was not a very happy customer on that day, I had a reservation for 700pm. I was not seated to 745 then we had to wait another 15-20 minutes for a person to come and take our drink orders. The whole table was complaining and we called for the manager and all that he could say is that she didnt have anything to do with the front manager and that we had not been sitting in the back but for 5 minutes. So in other words he was calling everyone at the table a lier. I was very appauld at that. The food was nice and I met some new friends but I was not happy with the whole experience that I had there at all."

"I had only been to the Troy location, and always had a good time and meal experience, then at the Dearborn location I went to redeem my birthday coupon, which I thought could've been redeemed and taken off the whole bill but it was weird that it was only for my food, then half the table complained about everything which put a damper on the experience after having to wait so long since our cook was late, and the manager was kind of rude, I think maybe was just flustered because it was the end of the lunch rush/ shut down. After this I don't think I will come back to this location if I can help it or maybe dine with a large group of people I know, or maybe just go for dinner and skip lunch at the big table and eat in the sushi lounge"

"We arrived at 2:00 pm on my birthday (4/25). We were seated at about 2:10. We sat and waited until 2:30 for our drinks to arrive. My husband actually was so upset he left and my son and I stayed.
There was a problem with smoke. Our table was in the corner in the back and the exhaust fan was not efficient enough to clear the smoke and all at the table were bothered by this. It was pretty bad.
The chef was entertaining and our food was excellent! Everything else was great!"

"We had a reservation for 8:30 and checked in at 8:15. We weren't seated until 8:40. This was extra time wasted, they had given our table away to someone else. The chef was not that great, it took him longer than most chefs to cook out food. By the time he was all done cooking our meat everything else was cold."

"Our appointment was 18:00; we were seated at 18:15 - no problem. The server was very slow, and the chef was slower. I am assuming the server was relatively new, and we learned this was the chef’s first week on the job - not a good combination.
By the time the chef had finished preparing our meal, it was close to 20:30. The experiences are not always this poor, but good experiences are not consistent. My husband prefers going to the location in Troy, MI; but you are right in our backyard and I do not want to travel out of the way. Therefore, we find ourselves hoping for the best, but we are let down more frequently.
We go to Benihana an average of twice per month, primarily at the Dearborn location. Would we recommend it? Maybe!"

"The food was my only good experience there even though we had reservations it took a extra half an hour for us to be seated then it took another 25 mins for the cook to even come to our table we hardly ever seen our waitress and to top it all off they over charged my credit card by $20 after I gave my waitress a $20 cash tip I didn't find out until I got home that I had been charged the extra money like I said before the food was fantastic but that was it I can say I would go to Benihana again but not this location."

"Very busy high energy atmosphere at 5pm on a weeknight! Confusing to the first time customer. The awesome wait staff appeared understaffed and overworked, all very pleasant but it was readily apparent they were in a rush. Atmosphere seems unorganized and chaotic at times. This restaurant combines parties to fill a table of eight seats so you will be sitting with strangers. Not a whole lot of room, felt boxed. Beware if you're party is less than eight and are bringing the kids with you! The chef flicked hot shrimp on a customer, not professional! The unlimited use of flavored butter and oils makes everything taste similar and is dripping with fats.4 meals/pop, 2apps, 20%tip=$240.OUCH!"

"HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. WE WERE SITTED & A GROUP OF 3 WAS WAITING ON A 4TH PERSON, SO THE WAITRESS WAS UNABLE TO PUT IN OUR ORDER. THEN THERE WAS A COUPLE THAT COULDN'T MAKE UP THEIR MIND AS TO WHAT THEY WANTED. ME & MY GODDAUGHTER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED BUT HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 30 MIN BEFORE OUR ORDER WAS PLACED WITH THE COOK. WE ORDERED SUSHI & HAD TO WAIT 30 MIN TO RECEIVE IT. ALTOGETHER IT WAS A AN HOUR WAIT INCLUDING THE SUSHI ORDER & THE ENTREE! THE WAITRESS FORGOT TO OFFER US GREEN TEA OR ICE CREAM, WE HAD TO ASK FOR IT! ALSO,SHE STATED A FEW MONTHS AGO THERE WAS A MEETING AND IT WAS DECIDED THAT THEY COULD NO LONGER MIX THE FLAVORS OF THE LEMONADE BUT THE MANAGER STATED IT WAS EFFECTIVE 4/1. WE WON'T BE BACK!!!"

"Dining with interaction with the chefs, table waiters, and other diners. Reserving a seat in advance (date and time) in almost a MUST unless you don't care about sitting at a Chef's table. Benihana's gives a LOT of food and it ALL tastes GREAT!"

"We went to use my birthday coupon for the month of March. Since you can only use the coupon Monday - Thursday and this happened to be the last Thursday of the month, there were a ton of people there using their coupons as well. So my only advice is to not go to this restaurant on the last Thursday of the month. Other than that, the food was excellent, but our chef seemed very tired and so did the other servers. Again, probably a result of the very busy day. We enjoy the food so I'm sure we'll be going back."

"My first time at the table/grill. It was utterly fascinating to watch the chef perform skillful cooking maneuvers and eye-catching tricks. Watching the hibachi rice being prepared only enhanced the flavor for me. It's something relaxing and different than your average run of the mill restaurant. The elements of entertainment combined with excellent food choices and tastes, set Benihana apart."
