"The worst service ever!! We have been to this restaurant quite a few times. Our server just couldnt seem to get it together. The table that was seated at least 20 min adterus had a chef before we did. We were there for a birthday and our server never did the birthday thing ... We finally gave up and left"

"We were celebrating two birthdays and three for Mother's Day, and had three kids with us under the age of 11. We do this every year and we've never been disappointed with either the personality of our chef's or the quality of the food. This has been our tradition for over 20 years and we hope to continue it for another 20. This year our chef was especially good and kept our three year old entertained throughout the meal."

"We had Myke this time and he was seriously awesome! Tons of tricks I've never seen before and very interactive with the table. I've been to Benihana at least five times so far this year and it never gets old. However, with Myke, I was as entertained as the very first time I went. "I always like Benihana. The place offers excellent choice of various dishes and a great selection of wines and liquors. The atmosphere is super for a small group of people. The table has room for a maximum of 8 and you will have to share the table with others if your party has less. The only thing is that your clothes will have the food odor from the cooking since they cook in front of you. I always bring an extra shirt to change afterward since I do not like the food odor on my shirt.

"A bit too kid friendly. We first (party of 2) were seated with another party of 6. Great, except it was a little kid's birthday party complete with screams, toddlers, and balloons. We had waited 40 minutes to be seated at this point, even with a reservation, but opted to wait longer for another table. We were offered another 10 minutes later. No one else was offered that birthday table but us! Benihana, please use "common sense" when seating patrons!"

"The food was delicious and the kids enjoyed the 'show'. One issue we had is that they messed up my daughter's dinner - she ordered the chicken and steak kids meal but the chef or who ever prepped the tray gave her chicken and shrimp. The meal ticket did say chicken and steak. The other issue was that we had a 5:30pm reservation and had to wait for the other four people who had a 6pm reservation. I understand they need to fill the 8-person table but it's not right to make the earlier dinner reservation guests wait so long, especially with young kids. They need to make note of this when making reservations and checking in. I'm not sure we will return."

"When we arrived we had to wait quite a while to be seated, even though we had a reservation. I don't like how they seat everyone at the table at the same time, even though you have different groups at the same table. Not very professional at all. Also, the bar, which is adjacent to the waiting area, is EXTREMELY loud. We wanted to get a drink beforehand since we were waiting but it was too chaotic in the bar.
Our chef was excellent, Jason. Very funny and engaging, paid extra attention to the birthday boy. Our male server was very attentive also. The woman who seated us, however, gave a childrens menu to my son's 17 year old friend, which was very offputting. If she wasn't sure, perhaps she could have asked if we needed any childrens menus"

"It's always fun to enjoy the cooking/entertaining show at your table. The food was very good and we got plenty of it. Because the chef is cooking to order though, the entries are done at different times so don't expect to all be eating at the same time initially. Even with the fans running at the tables, you will still smell like smoke when done and as described, the noise level is energetic so at times it is hard to hear when the chef is saying due to the fans and other tables around. With that said, it's fun and a great spot for a bday. They even take a group photo and frame it for you."

"My experience at Benihana was very enjoyable as always. The food was steller and entertainment was a major bonus. However, I feel that this experience would have been better if the cook in front of me was a bit more enthusiastic. I have run into this issue at the same place before. While the concept and flavor of cooking the food on display is nice, the delivery could be worked on. As a customer at a significantly nice eating place, I would like for myself and my party to seem more than just another of countless jobs for the cooks.

"My only complain is the people at the receptionist, they were not very friendly and professional. They saw us walk in but no one smiled or greeted us at the door. We had to approach to let them know our reservation. Their response was "wait a few minutes". I felt bad for the restaurant owner as they may lose customers due o these frontline employees.

"I was not really that impressed with Benihana. I have been to several Teppanyaki style restaurants and I thought that Benihana would be better. I was wrong. I was expecting more show but instead we got a guy who just cooked our food. Not really impressed. For the amount of money we paid for food that was not as good as advertised. I am very disappointed. I do not think I will come back."

"I've been here before several times, but this time was the absolute worst. I made a reservation and still had to wait about 45 minutes. Once seated the server was great, however between the time we were seated and the time the chef came to cook, was about an hour. This was for a late lunch which then became dinner. I do not think. I will be coming back soon."

"Second time here in a few weeks- can't get enough of the fried rice (it's a must if you go). Service was pretty good- our Server, Jackie, was bubbly and personable. She forgot our tea that we ordered until the end of service but other than that, she did a great job! Our Chef this time wasn't as fantastic (Alvaro, Alfredo...can't remember) but he did an ok job. He didn't have a lot of tricks like some of the other Chefs we've had in the past and he wasn't as interactive either. The entrees (meat) were also a little salty but that's mostly based off personal preference. I'd definitely be back though; as mentioned, I can't get enough of the fried rice...it's SO delicious, I could literally make my entire meal out of just that!"

"I have been to Benihana's many times, I was very disappointed that night on the service, they never took my appetizer plates away or refill my water glass. It was my grandsons birthday and they took forever to bring his ice cream and sing to him. (10 minutes) and it wasn't very crowded I counted 5 empty tables at the time."

"Food and service was very good - the only thing was the people we were seated with had no personality what-so-ever and the one couple both had their cell phones constantly in their hands, very distracting and rude to the server. But you can't blame the establishment for people's behavior. I'll go back again but I'll make sure to go with friends that enjoy each other's company and not tied to their cell phones."

"Some friends and I just finished taking a class and wanted to go out to celebrate, and we decided to go to Benihanas. I accidentally reserved for 8 when 9 people were going, and I believe they didn't really give us trouble adding an extra person on even though I reserved for less. I was unhappy that from the time we got there, it took them about 30 minutes to seat us still, and it felt like forever before they actually took our order and got our drinks. Once our chef came out though, things started rolling, and our chef, Mario, was excellent. I've gone to the Burlingame one a bunch (I go there weekly/monthly, has an excellent view) and the Japan Town one once so I've seen the show a bunch. Mario is by far the most skilled chef I've seen."
