"The decibel level at this restaurant was way too loud to hold a civil conversation or hear the chef at our table. While some tables have a view of the bay, ours had a view of another chefs back side, another table of seated guests, and the kitchen (in that order). We waited over one half hour to be seated although we had a reservation. When I complained about the table the hostess just struggled her shoulders and laughed. When the manager came over he did offer to reseat us, but didn't know how much longer we would need to wait for a table. The food was good and the chef entertaining, but overall I would not recommend this restaurant and I won't be returning."

"Always a fun experience having a chef cook at your table but the noise level is overwhelming. It's just hard to have a conversation with people that are even sitting right next to you. Between the fans for the cook tops and the people the noise is a bit much. Seems they put in more tables so the space between tables is less which creates even more noise since you have two chefs cooking almost at the same time. A couple less tables would probably make this a better experience but restaurants need to make money! I often don't chose to go here but I find the noise level uncomfortable."

"As usual the food was tasty, ambience was great, and a good time was had by all in the group.
This was the first time in many years of going to this location I felt just a little less attention/service. It was not bad, but not quite where it is usually at. Must have been an off day for our server.
No worries though everything else was great."

"I made reservations and when I arrived I was seated quickly which I liked. I was with a group of family members and filled up the table and had to wait a long time for the chef. The restaurant was not full - it was empty - only two other tables had people but we would disappointed that we had to wait 20 min. as the manager and many waiters were walking up and down.
Once the chef came out, the service was great, the meals were delicious, we had a wonderful time. The only complaint was that

"Be aware!! Reservations don't mean much. They will NOT SEAT YOU unless your entire party is there. The waiting area gets very crowded at dinner time. Slow traffic due to accidents on the freeway - tough!! Rest of party arrives. We need to find a table - we don't hold tables even for reservations :-(. The food was good. The cook friendly and entertaining."

"Overall, I was very happy with our dinner. The chef made everything to perfection - there were no burnt eggs in the fried rice and the meats were cooked perfectly. My husband thought the dinner was a little light on the salt and butter but I was pleasantly surprised with that. As for the waiter, he was very attentive and never let our drinks go dry, which is what we requested. The only downside for me was that the hostesses weren't welcoming when we arrived (no smiles)."

"The reason we selected this restaurant was their ENTERTAINING feature. For that I do not mean they provide entertainment. The cooking is already a show but the view of airplane landing and taking off was a tremendous treat.
I would suggest they install full heigh glass and let the outdoor scenes become part of the dinning experience. Too bad the printer was not working, they took picture for us but failed to produce a print. Should have back up printer.

"I booked a reservation for 7pm. We were still not seated by 730. The hostess finally agreed to seat us after asking twice. she tried to seat us at the first table as you walk in to the dining area. We asked to sit at the adjoining table. The hostess said that hat table was reserved for another party. We said. Well, sit them there, we were here first. So she did.. Then, the party that they sat was a "walk in". I saw them when they came in, about twenty minutes after we checked in. Very Disappointed. But the food was excellent! And the show was great!"

"I made a reservation a week in advance for my son's birthday dinner, but we still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, and even more time for our table to be filled. The show is always fun, but the food was over cooked and the chef seem to stumble over the orders continuously. The large table behind us was filled with screaming 2 year olds and parents who just didn't seem to care. I had a headache when we left...I won't return to Burlingame - I'll try Santa Clara next time."

"I love going here to eat but our server was not on his game that night. We ordered shrimp and he did not add them to our order as well as an extra fried rice bowl. The other group at our table was also missing two items and they had a hard time selecting a proper wine because the server was not that knowledgable.

"We have been eating at Benihana since the ealy '70's. We ate at the original one on Taylor Street in San Francisco, until it moved to Post Street in The City. We still ate there until it was more convenient to eat at the Burlingame location when that was built. Each restaurant made you feel like a very special guest and the food has always been the very best of quality."

"This is the restaurant my four kids always pick for their birhtday dinners....me too.
The food is always super yummy, the younger kids are completely entertained, and remain in their seats. The chefs are interactive.
We love the celebration photo they give you as well. It's a little pricey."

"I was not to happy with our food or the way it was served. I ordered my steak rare/medium rare. I came medium to medium well. My sons steak was tough and also over cooked. Generally you get everything plated pretty much at the same time. Not last night. After my appetizer I got my lobster. By the time that I had finished that I still did not have my steak. The veggies were served the same way. Zucchini first, but no onions or mushrooms. At one point I had an entire plate of onions and nothing else. Very disappointed"

"For many years this restuarant has served as a standard for me. Especially, for out of town guests. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming. The greeters, waiters, and waitresses have always been friendly. The chefs as well, were entertaining and of course, good cooks. My guests from out of the country were impressed. Keep up the good work BENIHANA. I will be back."

"Had reservations at 7, got seated at 730ish. Haven't been here for 20 years.... I guess it depends on who sits at your table that will decipher the fun for the night. We had these old folks so the scene was pretty tame, and with the chef doing strobe light action w/ the overhead fan with our party animal table was a bit comical.
Good bang for the buck for the meal. Would definetly come back again!"

"This was a great experience in many ways. The staff, service, and overall manner of everybody there was great. The food was delicious and very well portioned, the chef was masterful at his art and kept everybody entertained. The wait was around 15-20 minutes after our reservation time, but for a restaurant of this magnitude that should be expected. I would recommend Benihana to anybody looking for a great night out."

"I love Benihana restaurants. The one located in Burlingame provides the same wonderful chef performance and delicious food that I have come to expect from this chain.
