NAHA offers a seasonal contemporary American menu that comes alive with the passions and flavors of the Mediterranean and effortlessly blends the culinary, design and management talents of the cousins Nahabedian.
"My partner and I went to eat on a Friday evening. The wait staff was okay, our drinks sat empty for quite awhile and it felt like they forgot about us. The foie gras was excellent, we wanted to order five more plates, but the main dish fell flat. We both ordered the quail and while the sweetbreads and bacon were delicious, the quail itself was nothing spectacular. Overall, would recommend the foie gras but otherwise I was not particularly bowled over."

"Naha continues to deliver. I haven't been there for a couple years, and it was better than I remember. Service was great! Our waiter was attentive without hovering! Venison medallions were excellent. Halibut was solid and beet salad was an excellent starter. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it, particularly for anybspecial occasion."

"Exquisite service and food. We had the mushroom soup with fresh morels, a simple salad, and a spectacular cut of beef and an intriguing assortment of cheeses for dessert. Great wine list. Our server was intelligent, well informed, and attentive. Great place for a quiet elegant meal."

"I thought the food was spectacular!! The tables are spacious so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the people next to you. Service was great but there was a large party so the food came out a little too slowly. All around, it was a fabulous dining experience!"

"We celebrated my adult daughter's birthday at Naha's but my husband and I celebrated "just us" at Naha several months prior. Each time we had wonderful servers who were gracious and helpful. Last Saturday, we all wanted the soup but we also wanted other appetizers so the waiter told us " I can take care of that easily'. And he did! We all had a small portion of this fantastic cream of mushroom soup(served elegantly) AND the an appetizer of our choice. It was a little thing but we so appreciated it. The rest of the meal was wonderful. The food is spectacular. The cocktails were were inventive, tasty and playfully named. The wines were outstanding. All in all, it was a wonderful experience."

"We visited Naha the first time and liked it a lot. The selection of meals is great, in particular also for a vegetarian (no fish, no meat) it´s easy to find a delicious meal. The service was very nice and it is sure that we will come again."

"The menu is creative and contained no run-of-the-mill items and the visual presentation is imaginative. An excellent cocktail and wine list. All three of our by-the-glass selections were excellent. The cost is on the stiff side but worth the price, considering the creativity of each dish, even the desserts. Service was very competent and added to the value. At first there was a very noisy (male) crowd at the bar which disturbed because it is close to the dining area. When we left the general manager personally took us to your new Les Brindilles Restaurant up the street and connected us with the sommelier, as a favor. Bravo."

"Enjoyed the food - outstanding albeit expensive!! The wine list was a real challenge, I am not an expert but am also not a novice and it was pretty tough to pick a Chardonnay Our waiter was somewhat helpful but not great in suggesting one. I don't mind exploring but not at $90+ a bottle!!!"

"Not up to Michelin Star or James Beard. Foie gras, morel mushroom soup, pork risotto, and ribeye steak. Seemed like chef designed and line cook prepared food. The mise en place was generally good, the finishing not so good. The fat was rendered from the foie and the poached marrow on the steak leaving both tough. The foie wasn't de-veined and was served on micro-waved puff pastry. There was grit in the fresh morels in the reconstituted mushroom soup. The pork pieces in the risotto were tough. On the bright side, the bartender put together a great Moscow mule!"

"We went a little early for dinner (6:30) on a Friday night so the place was not very full and the lights were still bright. This was no fault if the restaurant, but if we go back we will certainly go later. By the time we left at 8:15, I would classify the ambiance as perfect.
Food was amazing. All our courses were delivered not to fast or slow, just as desired."

"Everything was very good. However what I don't understand is the reservation policy. That Monday we visited the restaurant there were plenty of empty tables. But when I four weeks ago had tried to make a reservation for five opentable always gave a notice that this is not possible. Maybe there is a fault in the program which should be corrected."

"Our server was great and the wine he recommended was fantastic. That's the good news. However, I ordered the standing rib and found it to be not as tender as I expected considering the price. The flavor was good but the quality of the meat was not. I should have turned it back but when you are with other people that's not always the convenient thing to do. My husband said the fish he ordered was nothing special and as for guests, we did not discuss the food. The scallops were delicious!"

"Overall I loved it, but the server was a bit cold, not too bad but cold. The busboys did a great job making sure our water was full. The food was good I had the risotto with pork, it did not have much pork. I think the kitchen shorted us on that as well as the oxtail on the gnocchi. Ribeye could of used a bit more, it was tasty but it was just a hunk of meat, some arugula maybe, a few more potatoes? My girlfriend loved the fish, dessert was nothing out of the ordinary. I would go back"

"Food was great, when it finally came. We arrived at noon for a business lunch. Our order was not taken for 20 minutes. No bread on the table for most of that time. Our food did not arrive at the table untl after 1 PM. I realize quality takes time, but the restaurant was only half full and at least our order could have been taken a lot sooner. It was awkward for our business guests to have to wait that long and, when the food finally did arrive, everyone had to eat quickly because we had a 1:45 appointment. You should not have to budget 2 hours for a business lunch."

"This was our second time here. We came back (1.5 years later) because we felt like we weren't giving it a fair shot as our recollection was that it was unmemorable and overpriced. Unfortunately, our memory (or lack thereof) was dead on.
This would be a place I would recommend to anyone if the prices were about $20 cheaper for entrees, if bottles of wine were cheaper, and if appetizers were more reasonable or of larger portion. The price point is just way off here.
The service was amazing and the food was really good.
The list of places with more creativity and more to offer for food lovers is significantly larger in Chicago and massively larger if you're seeking a fair value."

"The restaurant was a recommendation from a chef from another good restaurant. We went as a group of four and each an appetizer and different entree. The service was very good, each bite was magnificent and savored. Fantastic. We shared two desserts and they were some of the best we have had. Highly recommended."

"Attentive but not hovering service, knowledgable. Inventive cocktails, Cuisine was outstanding. Preparation, meritage of flavors with impeccable ingredients. French classics created with a touch of 2013. We enjoyed the Foie Gros, and Carnaroli Risotto for apps and were left dreamimg of our return after our dinner selections which included the Farm Plate and the whole Roasted Squab. Read the menu online and dream as to what it may taste like then dine here and find how lacking your imagination is once you taste the cuisine live!"

""Stumbled" onto Naha before the opera a few months back and had wine and appetizers at the bar. The oyster w vinegar sorbet was so "magical" I dreamed of returning to have another for months afterward. Upon our we sat in the dining room. I know that every chef has an off night however there were just too many things "off" for me to give it a good review. Starting with a hurried staff and an appetizers which barely resembled the previous experience but instead was a melted pool of I don't know what. In attentive slow service ... The table next to us After we arrived got their meal long before us, the rest of the meal barely deserves mentioning. Overall a bad, overpriced , and disappointing meal. Too bad for us."

"Naha continues its 11 year traditional of exception cuisine and service. One of the top restaurants in Chicago. A James Beard nominee, Michelin rated, and innovative food elegantly prepared. For lunch our two appetizers included a pear tart topped with fois gras and a sea scallop with greens and sauce. Our two entrees the skate wing and quail dishes, both with components to make it delectable. Wine selections by glass or bottle compliment the menu. For dinner we normally have one of the desserts but skipped it for lunch."

"Excellent starters: Beets, Arugula with Black Quinoa, "Beauty Heart" Radishes and Greek Yogurt, "Bandaged" Cheddar, Glazed Pecans, Apple Cider Syrup & Apple Vinaigrette and butternut squash soup. Both were superb as were entrees of Moulard Duck Breast with a Tart Tatin of Caramelized Fennel and Parsnips, Door County Cherries, French Flageolets, Churned Honey &Port and A Farm Plate of Quail, Sweetbreads and Kurobuta Pork Belly with Three Sisters Garden Grits, Crimson Sultanas, Poached Quail Egg, Bacon &Sauce Arabica. But dessert (Bittersweet Chocolate Pave,Chocolate Beignet, Caramel Corn, Chocolate Cream; Pinot Noir ice cream) was inedible.Kitchen agreed & $12 was deleted from bill. Gracious but unfortunate ending to otherwise great dinner."

"I had wanted to go to Naha for a while, and was happy when a reservation opened up. Overall, my food was decent, and the service was good, but there was nothing new or interesting, or even memorable about the meal. The sole exception was a bottle of wine I had not seen anywhere else, but that has very little to do with the meal. For the money, I would not return, as there are many other similarly priced restaurants that do a much better job.
As an aside the "branches" art piece behind my wife had cobwebs in it. While not a huge deal, when you're serving $50 entrees, it shows attention to detail is lacking."

"NAHA is a nice, energetic restaurant, with good food and great service. My only complaint, as with many other reviews, is the high price for what you actually get. They can command their price point due to their prime River North location, but for those that can get around there are several other options of this caliber in the general downtown area offering similar quality at a better value (Blackbird, Graham Elliot, Everest, to name a few)."

Everything from the hostesses to the support staff were great and the food....WOW!! It matters to Carrie and Mike. A family run restaurant with this degree of execution is wonderful. "I visited Naha for my first time during restaurant week for my birthday dinner with my family. I had heard great things about it prior to going and it definitely lived up to its reputation. I chose the restaurant week menu and had the risotto with pork shank as my entree - amazing! The pork literally melted in your mouth and was perfectly cooked. The risotto was very creamy and all of the flavors complemented each other quite well. As my starter, I had the butternut squash soup with pork belly, also delicious! They also featured bottles of wine for $30 to go along with the restaurant week menu, which was definitely a steal. The service was wonderful. Our server checked on us often and made sure we were satisfied."

"Our third visit in 8 months and our least favorite because of the pared down portions for Restaurant Week. That being said we still love Naha. It's just so much better if you pay full fare. We had the butternut squash soup - best part was the pork cheek meat; corn "grits" w/ mushrooms and crispy kale was very imaginative and the beet salad was good but standard. Salmon entree was tiny - good but not great; pork shank off the bone was tender with good flavor but strangely served on an overcooked and mushy lake of cheese-topped risotto with spinach. It looked bad and felt too rustic. Almond financier was tasty but overbaked and a bit dry - a trend here. The wine selections were very good $30/$50/$75 bottles for some really decent offerings"
