"Did lunch with four, had a great server. I think the kitchen wasn't ready for us. Heard a lot of orders being made ( too loudly) from the open kitchen. I ordered their special grilled salmon sandwhich, it was barely warm when it got to the table 30 minutes later. Others had their scallops, they are selling one extra for 8$, seems steep. Mushroom soup delicious, but also not warm enough. Food did not come out together."

"We were recommended to go to Goose & Gander by everyone we know who had been to Napa Valley before. It did not disappoint! I tried the bone marrow - it was my first experience and it was amazing! The service was great as well, and it's an affordable option for great food."

"The night before mother's day, my wife, 10 year old daughter, 7 year old son and I visited Goose & Gander. Great decision. My wife had the burger with marrow. My daughter had the swordfish and my son had the children's burger. We started with the olives (my daughter loves fried olives), gorgonzola filled dates and salad topped with two fried oysters. The olives seemed endless. The dates,4, were perfect. My favorite was the salad. The show stopper was the oysters. Perfectly crisp on outside, but moist inside. It was like have the best of a fried oysters and half-shell together. Burgers were best ever! Definitely opt for the marrow. I had the flank steak, incredibly tender and perfectly good. Swordfish was perfect. We will be back!"

"Wow! The food here was outstanding. We came for a light lunch and did the cheese and charcuterie plate, mushroom soup, scallops, and had a side of duck fat fries. Everything was absolutely delicious and I can't wake to go back and try more on the menu. I wouldn't recommend the charcuterie - the portion size was not worth the price. The restaurant was also very dark, which lowered the quality of the experience. But the food and wonderful service provided by Lauren outshined the dingy setting."

"After roaming St. Helena, it was lovely to be able to decide whether we wanted to eat inside or outside in the comfortable bar- room in front of the kitchen. The menu was inovtive and we were all impressed with the simple but all inclusive menu. I had scallops on friend green tomatoes. It was a quiet satisfying lunch"

"Our waiter was delightful and very knowledgeable about the wine list. I had the lamb wrap which was very good and my friend had the braised pork, equally as good. Would definitely return. I don't give it a 5 star only because the drinks took a long time to arrive and the hostess seated a large, noisy, demanding party of 8 right next to us when there was hardly anyone else in the garden. We ultimately changed our table."

"Visited Goose & Gander at my husband's request--he's been ogling their bar program from afar for quite a while so a trip to wine country finally provided an opportunity to visit.
The food was good--we had the pate, which was unbelievably good, and the burger (delicious but a gut bomb, too rich for a person to comfortable finish at one sitting), and the gnocchi (good, but not amazing).
The cocktails we had were fantastic, well balanced, interesting, and worth going back for."

"We really enjoyed our first visit! We started with an order of smoked corn croquettes, which were delicious. The cream of mushroom soup was rich, and one of the best we have ever had. The sides of sauteed spinach and Yucon Gold potato puree were fantastic. The grilled flat iron steak entree was flavorful, but a bit chewy for my taste.
The drinks are fantastic! Scott Beattie is downstairs behind the bar making beautiful cocktails. Ice cubes are large, perfectly clear, and hand chiseled. The basement bar's atmosphere is perfect for meeting new people and drinking fine whiskies."

"Had not been there since it was the Martini House. Still great ambiance. Ate outside as it was a gorgeous day and patio area was very pleasant. Servers friendly and very accommodating. Food delicious especially the fried olives!!!"

"All the cocktails are great. The scallop appetizer is the best I’ve ever had! Everyone was happy with their main dish. The salmon and flank steak were the table favorites but everything was great. If you’re looking for a place to eat or have a creative cocktail in St Helena this is a great choice. We’ll be back soon!"

"GREAT ambiance, dark and comfortable, lots of wood in upper level, great 'rathskeller' like lower level with bar and some dining, stone and wood.
Food was really good, well prepared and presented.
Service was ok, about average for most decent dining venues.
Menu a bit limited, but all good , check out the website for menu prior to your visit, your favorite(s) may be missing.
Wine pricing out of line, one of those 2-3-4 times retail places, just not what I plan on in the middle of wine country. After all, we are here for the wine and lifestyle, if the restaurants insist on pricing as they do, it becomes a negative.

"Nice decor but a little dark - we needed the light from our phones to see the menu! We had the cream of mushroom and a salad with fried oysters, both excellent, followed by roasted bone marrow, very tasty, then bucattini with pork sugo, which was fine but nothing to write home about, and grilled flat iron, good but I probably wouldn't order again. Our server recommended the chocolate tart with espresso ice cream for dessert and we were glad we followed the suggestion."

"Very bad odors coming from kitchen.....waiter said it was burnt hazelnuts! Whole restaurant smelled and was smoky. Checked downstairs for a table and smelled like bleach. Also left with clothes smelling like grease, etc. Food fairly good, but small portions."

"We were initially disappointed because several of the items we wanted to try from the menu were unavailable--hard to understand on a Friday night at 6:00 pm. However, what we did get was tremendous! The quality of the food was outstanding--all four of us at the table agreed--and we would definitely come back. This was our favorite Napa Valley restaurant this trip. I recommend without hesitation."

"Great cocktails and super helpful bar tender. Loved our waiter who really tried to make up for a couple reasons for the lack of a better review. The duck fries, the mushrooms, the stuffed figs and marrow were all to die for. The flat iron too was cooked perfectly but the pulled pork dish over pasta really did resemble kraft mac and cheese as a previous reviewer stated, but the failure was really the front of house staff who seemed indifferent and frankly a little too into there own conversations as opposed to making it happen, most notably the too young hostess simply has a long way to go to understand the value of being the first to greet diners.This place has some work to do."

"Great outdoor seating area, especially on a nice cool day. Menu was much more than a "pub" menu, which was a pleasant surprise. Service was a bit slow, but for a Sunday afternoon (2 PM) the place was hopping. Would love to visit again and will definitely get the fried olives and hot pistachios again...spicy and tasty."
