The Point is a locally owned and operated neighborhood gathering place. Located in the heart of historic Five Points. Serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. We pride ourselves on using the best our local farmers have to offer. All our beef and pork is natural, hormone free and locally raised. The beef is grass fed, grain finished, and dry aged. We feature local fresh seafood and produce daily. Our motto is we are farm to fork whenever possible. We pride ourselves on our diverse menu and our wood-fired specialties including our award winning brick-oven pizzas. We also offer a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and steaks. We have all ABC permits, featuring a full bar that includes some local brews, and an extensive wine list. Thursday nights we also have live entertainment starting at 10:30 PM. Come experience the best North Carolina has to offer.
"The food was good, not fantastic. Plates were nicely presented but some portions were small. Dessert was good. The restaurant was very loud and we had difficulty holding a conversation at our table."

"The only thing I liked about this restaurant was the service. We were seated at a bar table even though we had a reservation. The fish was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The fajitas were not worth a third of the price. I will not be back."

"We had a group of seven on a Saturday night. Our table was ready when we arrived, the food was very good, and the service was outstanding. Our server, I think his name was Brian, was very attentive!"

"I purchased a deal online for a half off dining experience and I'm so glad I did because I would have been really disappointed if I had paid full price for this meal. My husband and I ordered the tuna and ribeye. They claim it's all local, grass fed, hormone free beef which was great except the ribeye was very thin, over cooked, and lacked flavor. How does a ribeye lack flavor? The tuna was better than the steak but still was pretty boring and definitely wasn't the best we'd ever had. The service was pretty good. Our waitress was very attentive but that may have been because we were her only table... The decor is outdated, dark, and dingy. Oh and on the way out I noticed they had a rating of 91 and that just made my stomach turn even more."

"Service was outstanding. The crab dip was full of crab meat and the best we have had - which is coming from the daughter of a Baltimore native. Seafood was fresh (not frozen) and all protein was grass fed and free range. Fantastic food and experience."

"On 4/13/13, I took my 9yr old daughter here to celebrate her birthday. When I made the reservations, I made sure to put in the notes that it was in celebration of her birthday. Not once was she told Happy Birthday during our stay. In fact, it wasn't until we were leaving that the host mumbled happy birthday. As for the food, it was okay. I had scallops and they were prepared with too much sodium. I sent them back and the second order was a little better. Frankly, the lack of acknowledging my daughter's birthday put a damper on my experience."

"We experienced the Easter brunch buffet at The Point and it was nothing short of amazing. Everyone in our group of 7 loved everything offered. Shrimp and grits, waffles, french toast, made to order omelettes, quiche, roasted chicken, salmon, prime rib, huge sausage links, perfectly cooked bacon, fruit... no joke, they had something for everyone. We will definitely be back for brunch here. The service was lacking but since we had the buffet it didn't negatively affect our dining experience. The wait staff was friendly and all, we just had to ask several times for milk and our water glasses sat empty for too long. Overall, we walked away completely satisfied. Next time I'll only eat til I'm satisfied rather than trying every single item"

"This place was great. The food was great and the service was outstanding. The only drawbacks were the beer selection and the creepy manager that stood behind our table for like 30 plus minutes. Overall, I really enjoyed by experience, just get rid of the creepy manager and get more local beer."

"First visit was great. This visit was the same. Server was one of the best we've ever had. Receipt said "Brian". We tried the paella this time. You have to wait about 25 mins for it to cook, but worth it. Just go!"

"This was the second time I have been to the Point. Our first experience was very good, but this visit was not as good. The sevice was a bit slower and we were the some of the last people to be served. Others came in after us and ate their food and left before ours even came. It could have been what they ordered but I believe it might have been our waitress also. She seemed nervous or new. The bar area was very loud. The beef was tough and too largely cut to be considered beef medalions. The pork chop was also too large and tough - esp for $22.00. We will visit again as we want to try to pizza. We had my husband's mother out for her 78th birthday and chose the restuarant for the variety of foods but it wasn't as good as we had hoped."

"Dinner: We tried the pork egg roll appetizer (good), order of french fries (good! with parmesan on top, i think), kids had make-your-own pizzas (they loved that), oyster po boy (didn't care for this--oysters big and not crisp enough) and flounder po boy (good). Two fountain drinks.
Service (server) was fabulous. Like, the best I think I've ever had...or one of them definitely.
Price: Everything seems so expensive these days, but we went on kids eat free night and our total out the door was over $50. A little steep, in my opinion. Anyway, we will return very soon for the Paella for two. Anxious to try that.
Parking might be a little dicey, too. Behind the restaurant in a weird pit, but what I expected in that area."

"This is one of our favorite spots. My girlfriend recommended this place and we like to come here for a nice night out. We always request Brian Adams as our server. He is great and always makes our outing enjoyable with his great service. The food is consistent and there are some things that are always a treat. She likes the blackened Mahi Mahi with cheddar grits. We also love the bbq/slaw egg rolls as an appetizer. We haven't had dessert yet, but they usually look pretty good."

"We had some wood-fired NC oysters that came to the table cold, but the waiter/manager took care of it immediately and it only took a few minutes for the replacements. The oysters were very good when we got them second time around. We will go back to try other menu options. the duck breast special with chard and beets was very good and my wife's scallops with succotash were excellent."

"My family and I reserved a table for a special occasion. Our table was the round table near the door and it was cold. It was so noisy, we couldn't hear across the table. Our meals were all delicious and the right portion sizes. Desert was wonderful! It took about 15 minutes before anyone from the waitstaff came to the table. There was some confusion as to who was assigned to our table. Our waiter was great after he knew we were his table. We were missing two flatware service bundles. I might return for the farm to fork food but not for the atmosphere."

"Really nice place with great service. The only thing that spooked me out (single woman) was walking down that alley from the parking to the front of the restaurant. Maybe some happy upscale grafetti (or is it graffetti?) on the brick side walls and more light would help. The restaurant could have a contest and have people submit designs. There must be a hundred high school or college kids that would love to do this for a few free meals."

"We went during the UNC vs NCSU basketball game. It was crowded with several large groups. They clearly could not handle it. Orders were messed up and our server never came back to check on us. Waters and coffee were not refilled. Overall a very disappointing experience from a place we usually like."

"They sat us in an area they thought was quiet but still a little louder than expected. The birthday boy [88 yrs young] wanted the Pealla [sp] but they wouldn't cut it down for just one. What he ended up ordering was a disappointment to him [probably because he had the other taste in his mouth.] We do like this place though."
