A suburban classic restaurant located in the heart of Elk Grove Village. Black Steer Charhouse offers incredible service and great food in a beautiful modern space. Known for having one of the area"s best house cut steaks, creative martinis and fresh seafood, Black Steer Charhouse is the perfect place for small groups, families and parties in both of our private event rooms.
"This restaurant has changed and not for the better. It was terrific when it was Charlie's but went downhill since new management came in. The portions are smaller but the prices are about the same. When we went on Mother's Day (with a reservation) we still had to wait an hour to be seated after our reservation time. I can understand somewhat because of it being such a special day and it was really crowded, so I can forgive them (sort of) for that. But as we finally were seated and I passed by a few tables that were being served prime rib, I decided on getting that because it looked fantastic. Of course, when we finally ordered, we were told they were out of prime rib. Not happy and probably won't be going there again."

"all around this place was very good. We went for Mothers Day and unlike other places, they didn't tack on a few dollars for each entree. They left their regular menu. I will definitly be back."

"Was looking forward to coming here. 4pm Reservation Got sat at 430pm not good. Then took forever to for our order to be taken. Then took forever between appetizer and main course. I don't think Black steer was prepared for mothers day even though im sure they know how busy it is in this occasion Food was good enough to go back but the reservation mix up ruined it. The Hostess said she understood my concern and then made me wait anyways. There were walk ins that got sat before our 4pm Reservation."

"Service was OK. Wait Staff seemed to push us to make a decision on ordering once we sat down. Food was good but I have had better steaks. It is not a romantic restaurant. Noisy from a number of young adults eating with there parents."

"Overall, I felt the experience was just fair. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. I felt like this place has become much more suited for people of a much later age. The steak sandwich was just okay. The pasta was fair, but nothing like a Maggiano's. I think it is better suited for the 60+ crowd."

"The cream of chicken and wild rice soup was very good. The main entree (roast pork) was dry. It was very busy and noisy in the restaurant, and our table location was in a high traffic area. I was not pleased with our experience on Easter Sunday."

"We had visited a number of times when the restaurant was known as Charlie's Charhouse. The inside decor is exactly the same, the food is similar and the service was very good. Andrea was an excellent server."

"Service was very good, our waiter was very attentive. But he left out a few details, the onion soup didn't come with the melted chesse unless you specifically ordered it that way. Otherwise the food was OK. The steak was cooked perfectly, but it still had a consistancy indicating it was the type you see in the vaccum packs. But remember you get what you pay for. A kansas City steak for $24.95 is not going to be USDA prime."

"Loaded baked potato not worth extra cost. Lobster, Filet Mignon and Porterhouse steaks were very good. Perfectly cooked vegetables. Best brownie sundae we ever had."

"The staff was exrtemely friendly. Had dinner for 5. Server was nice, but rather unattentive. Food was what you would expect for a mid priced greek owned etablishment."

"A lively restaurant with many excellent selections on the menu. Steak and shrimp and Kansas City Strip were both very well prepared and presented. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Gave us time to enjoy our drink before pressing us to order our food. Seems to be a Greek restaurant influence per some of the food preparation. The Greek salad dressing was delicious. Valet parking was a bonus because there was a big event at the adjacent hotel/conference center which used up quite a bit of the large parking lot."

"Big place. Easy to get a table, even last minute on a Sat night. Waitress very attentive and knowledgeable, very friendly staff. Such good entrees! Appetizers were good, but nothing to get excited about. Really tasty burgers, sandwiches, steaks, etc. Just wish they came with more sides."

"have been here many times. bartender was rude and I had to wave my arms in the air to get her attention - and it was not busy. waitstaff was ok, but very slow. we did have a big group and therefore had 2 waiters but one waiter was much much better than the other. I sat with an empty ice tea and a bone dry water glass for the final hour of our dinner. I didnt feel like waving my arms again. Usually its much better here, not sure what happened."

"Had the reservation but was made to wait for a table while they sat walk ins that came in ahead of us. Then we were seated in their banquet room area that was full of empty tables , it was deadsville, and didn't have the ambiance the rest of the restaurant has. If they were going to sit us there, why did we have to wait? They gave better tables to the walk ins and then got nervous we were waiting so long. Our table really killed the night. Food and service was good but i don't think we will go back. The management needs to get it together."

"I went to the restaurant the Saturday evening after Valentine's Day and had a reservation. We were seated within minutes of checking in, however, the young man working at the "carryout" desk told us that there would be about a 30 minute wait despite having a reservation. When we went to the hostess desk, the man working there told us it would just be a few minutes and he was correct. The service was good, not exceptional. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I started with the French Onion soup and was disappointed with it: cheese was extra fee, soup barely warm and too many onions. The steaks were average, lacked seasoning. Not the best steakhouse around but had a decent meal."
