Japanese cuisine is easily one of the healthiest on Earth, with its concentration on fresh fish, seafood, meats, vegetables and rice. The zesty sauces and delicate flavors of fresh foods compliment each other beautifully, and the methods of presentation turn even simple meals into ornate, eye-pleasing events. The Japanese love of beauty and simplicity turns slices of fish into miniature artworks, turning the platter into paint palettes for the artistry of the chef. Here, at Shuhei, traditional ways of creating dishes and preparing foods are far from lost. Authentic, high-quality and extensive Japanese fare is the highlight of the restaurant complete with affordable prices, relaxing atmosphere, kimono-clad waitresses who go the extra mile to make you smile and "the best sushi this side of Tokyo" according to ZAGAT Survey 2008!
"Having lived on the East Coast and abroad for years, when we moved back to Cleveland we searched and searched for great sushi. My opinion: most of the sushi restaurants in town are just not great. Too much rice. Small pieces of bland fish. Too much sauce and flourish. Shuhei is, hands down, the best sushi I've had here. The price is steep, but it's worth it for sashimi that melts in your mouth, and rolls that really are special and focus on the fish. We try to eat here at least 1x/month, and probably get takeout another 1x/month. The location is a little odd - back underneath & behind an office building - but from the full parking lot and constant in and out of takeout pick uppers, it's clear others agree that Shuhei is outstanding."

"We have not had better sushi and sashimi anywhere in Northeast Ohio than what they serve at Shuhei's. My wife and I shared the "boat" (deluxe mixture of sushi and sashimi)and a shrimp tempura appetizer and had plenty to eat. Both were delicious."

"Valentines Day ... over a two hour wait for food and people who were seated after us, finished their dinners, before we were served. Okay, I have always loved this restaurant and I understand that they were swamped. But, what I don't understand is that when we complained to management, they could care less and said so. An app, a drink or an apology ... something, to loyal customers who have eaten there for years, that says we care about you. Nothing, nada, zilch ... oh well it will be a long time before you see us again."
