La Dolce Vita of Belmar
La Dolce Vita is family owned and operated by two generations. Both ZIO (uncle) Giuseppe Salpietro and Nipote (nephew) Nicola Fuccilli invite you to experience their passion for Italian cuisine and culture.
The story of La Dolce Vita began five decades ago in a small town in the hills of Sicily. It is from here that co-owner Giuseppe Salpietro brings authentic cuisine, traditions and customs, which come from centuries of good living. La Dolce Vita believes in bringing this passion for Dolce Vita, translates to mean the sweet life, into every dish that leaves our kitchen. It is our goal to make every customer feel like part of our very own family. "Have to echo what other reviewers have said in their reviews. Waited nearly 1/2 hour with reservation. Owner?/manager was completely frazzled and kept repeating that Open Table doesn't work and our wait was not his fault as he did not book a large party that was there that evening (a wedding) and that is what caused all the delays. Food was fine, nothing spectacular. After we finished our meal and were having coffee the owner/manager was hovering over our table making my party a bit uncomfortable. After waiting in an extremely crowded foyer area for 30 minutes with a reservation I didn't appreciate being rushed out of our seats as we sat and had coffee. Very, very loud and somewhat hard to hear across the table."

"I used open table for the first time, I did request a corner table, I got a table in the middle row. Being in the middle we got bumped by the wait staff constantly, the noise level was so loud, that we had a hard time conversing. I would like to suggest, get rid of the middle row, being packed in like sardines is not a fun experience. The food is good but not worth the aggravation of being hit the all nite. I understand Saturday nites can get busy, but less tables would make it more enjoyable."

"I had made the reservation pretty late and only had 20 minutes to arrive. Unfortunately the computer could not catch up and when I arrived the reservation was still in the pending stage even though I had received a confirmed reservation. The gentleman profusely applogized and said not to worry he would find us a table and figure it out . He was very accommodating . Our waiter Dragon was wonderful! He wasVery energetic and knowledgable about the food and also offered substitutes if anyone asked for something a little different. We had a great experience and would definitely go back again!

"We had an excellent dinner, the only draw back was that it was very noisy and hard to talk to the person next to you, who happened to be my husband, as we were celebrating our 23 wedding anniversay. It did get better as a couple of tables left around us."

"My food was good. The ambiance was awful. Less than a foot between tables. Loudest restaurant I have ever eaten in. I left with a headache. We had to add to the chaotic loudness by shouting to our waiter and each other. Applebees offers much more in the way of ambiance."

"Wrote the average night off to the fact that is was Restaurant Week. Waiter started by asking if we were all eating from the EW menu and when told yes seemed to lose interest.
Food was good by several dishes came out cold and had to be sent back.

"Made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Saturday night, early April...was greeted cheerfully by hostess, shown to our table by 6:35pm. Bread and water delivered by 6:40pm. Walked out at 7:05pm after no waiter/waitress bothered to ask us for drinks/dinner order. Restaurant was half full, plenty of waiter action at other tables. Very disappointing...will not return."

"The location of La Dolce Vita is great, right across from the beach in Belmar. We visited during restaurant week, there were 4 of us, 2 ordered from the special menu. The mussels were a great appetizer, delicious and plentiful. The beet salad was also very good. Two of us thought our dinners were very good, but not exceptional. The other 2 that ordered chicken and eggplant rollatini, really enjoyed their meal. The big negative was our waiter, he hung over our shoulders, came across as being impatient, seemed very grumpy, never asked if we wanted another glass of wine; he actually was making us feel uncomfortable. A friend had dined there earlier the same evening and had the same feeling. Great location, food good, grumpy waiter!"

"Not sure I would return to this restaurant, although I had been once before and the food was good. We had a 7:30 reservation, arrived 5 minutes early and didn't get seated until 8:30. There was no apology on the part of the owner (maitre d) nor any attempt to make it right, although we stood right next to him for the full hour, asked him several times how long it would was told several times that our seating was imminent, which was never factual. Several other people with reservations left. It is also very noisy. The food though was good, the server apologetic when we told him how long we had waited. But the overall attitude of the maitre d, left a bad taste for my guests and myself."

"Extremely crowded. Not sure why they accept reservations they can't honor. So many people waiting in bar area that waiters could barely pass through from kitchen. This Byo off season usually has a waiter at the "bar" to open guests' wine while they wait for tables. When we finally got a seat at bar, we had to wait 15 min before we could find someone to open our wine and give us glasses! I'm glad this Ocean Av is doing well after Sandy, but the crowded conditions were not conducive to an enjoyable dinner experience."

"I really enjoyed the food. I ordered the Pecan crusted Chilean sea bass with wild mushroom rissoto and a white truffle butter. WOW. the food was exceptional. However, the seating was not as private as I would have liked for the money that was spent. The service was good, I did however feel rushed at some times. I made a reservation on line and they didn't even check. Must be because we went during the "off" season. Seasonal liquor license so bring your wine if the weather is cold! :)"
