Every thing we do is local, sustainable and organic. But it’s more than just food choice and ingredients. Cafe Belong is about creating a connection between the natural food from our land, the farmers that nourish and harvest it, and ultimately, the people who enjoy it.
It’s this ‘circle of sustainability’ that will surround your visit – a sense of ‘belonging’ to the environment and to the beautiful Evergreen Brick Works venue. It’s this dedication to provenance, preparation and presentation that stand as a testament to value.
"We've eaten here frequently, and recommend it friends. We love our little hike to this beautiful park and enjoy the food pretty much every time. This particular holiday Monday, we made late brunch reservations for four. We had a nervous waiter I've never seen before, and they where out of many menu items and had to adjust our order three times because he didn't know what they still had. He also told me when I asked for hard eggs that they could not adjust the menu, though I've eaten here several times and they will cook your eggs how you like them no matter the dish. I wish I remembered our waiter's name. I don't think I'll make late brunch reservations again and stick to our usual 11-11:30."

"Cafe Belong is great spot for brunch the food is solid and the patio is terrific. The issue is service. It was very slow. Clearly this restaurant is doing much better then its slow start. They will need to up the service and speed in order to keep the crowds satisfied and coming back. I went on the weekend with a group of 8 and we waited for up to an hour for our food. The coffee bar is also slow and could use extra staff.
Adding a few staff in critical bottle neck points will go along way.
Thank you.

"I took my mom to Cafe Belong for a belated Mother's Day brunch - our server was very helpful and had very good suggestions for our meal. We sat outdoors on the patio and it was really lovely. The food was different without being daunting and very very tasty. Portions were perfect. The only thing I didn't like was that there were so many children running around. As a fromer server of many years I know how nerve wracking it is to find yourself with an armload of meals nearly tripping over some small fry who should be sitting at their table. I understand the family friendly ethos of the wntire Brickworks set up but I really feel that a stronger effort should be made to ask parents to control their children."

"Coffee was great. Entrees were decadent. The cheesecake was out of this world. The staff were pleasant and accomodating. Loved the Breakfast Martini! You get what you pay for at Cafe Belong. Delicious!"

"Had a Sunday brunch; ordered pulled pork sandwich w/fries, smoked trout board, cheesecake with rhubarb, and poundcake w/cream. Pork was tender but blend and flat (even the accompanying mustard could not save it). Trout was flavourful, and so was cheesecake. Pound 'cakelets' (5 bite size pieces) were dry. Left the cafe with bad headache as the noise was overwhelming: combination of crowd and loud music. Service was great. My recommendation, buy a take-out and enjoy by the pond."

"Food was delicious and service was really good, but $30/person for a sandwich and a coffee is a little expensive for brunch. I might go back for dinner or a special occasion."

"Busy on a Saturday (even with a reservation we had to wait a bit for our table) and food took a while to come, but it was worth the wait. St.Lawrence salad was a mountain of perfectly combined ingredients. French toast was best ever eaten and pulled pork sandwich and fries also delicious. It was a bit noisy and more pricy than we'd usually pay but the location is great. We'll definitely be going back."

"The food was fantastic, Brad Long is a very talented chef! The award winning mixologist Renata and speedy/friendly server makes one of the 'meanest' Bloody Caesars I've had! Thank you for a great night."

"We loved it. The food was great, and our server Alex was a delight. Always smiling and willing to accommodate us. We ordered the Vegetarian Communal and we were very happy with it. I found the ambiance to be more inviting as it got darker outside and candles were lit. When we first arrived (our first time there) it was still daylight and it felt a bit too casual. The chef/owner came to our table to say hello and I thought that was a nice touch. You don't see that often any more.
I would definitely return, and recommend it to other."

"Relaxing inside Café Belong on a cold windy April day, we enjoyed the view of treed hillsides, anticipating the leafy sunny days to come. Our attentive energetic server took our orders for cold-weather comfort food, including seasoned celeriac and squash soup presented before entres of lightly fried chips and Lake Erie perch fillets served on a bed of carrot and broccoli slices. The secret to Belong’s fish batter seems to be no noticeable batter, just palate-pleasing crispiness. Culinary magic! Our final salute to this chilly day included ramekins filled with warm apple crisp topped by a scoop of water buffalo ice cream. The vege terrine is also unique. We’ll be back to eat at the outdoor patio … soon, we hope!"

"Have been before and was quite disappointed. The menu is slim for brunch, prices too high for the quality, limiting menu for wheat free people. I think chef Long should change up the menu and give more freshness and quality for the money sorry to say. Even my tea was luke warm."

"I have been here several times and I am never disappointed. This time we took friends who had never been and they loved it too. The food is fresh and wholesome and delicious. The environment is very unique - if the weather is good it is nice to take a walk before or after the meal. The service was delightful. I love ice cream and they had (I think) water Buffalo vanilla: rich and creamy. The best"

"we had the communal table meat dinner for 6 a few weeks back and it was one of the most outstanding dinners we've had all year! Everything was delicious and beautifully presented family style on gorgeous wooden platters. Service was also wonderful."

"Cafe Belong is the opportunity to experience the raw industrial beauty of the Brickworks from the inside out. Thus far, I've especially liked the market salads and the desserts and the overall menu looks select and creative.
Last time out, I took my elderly parents along for a family brunch and while that can be a difficult experience, our waitress handled the entire group with flying colours. That alone is worth the price of admission."

"great follow up by the restaurant and being able to bring our champagne was good too. Wonderful servide. Round table for 6 really added to the experience for us because it is so much easier to have a conversation for more than 4 with a round table...more restaurants should have round tables."

"A beautiful and peaceful retreat from the city within the city! A wonderful hybrid of a country restaurant with local food and careful in house preparation and urban sophistication.
Not easy to get to in the evening -without a car or taxi, but worthwhile. An excellent escape from the relative food desert of Don Mills!"

"The salad was a lovely, cohesive mix of fruit, grains, cheese and greens. The tastes were varied and harmonious. The wild rice and beans was not as good as I was hoping--beans too hard and a little more something to give it some tang would have been nice."

"My Wife and I were here for the first time and enjoyed the atmosphere and looking out at the snow through the big windows. The waitress was friendly . My wife had the Ribeye and I had the fish special. My fish had bones in it and got caught in my throat. The waitress quickly apologized and had the chef order a new one. I decided not to try it again since the bone was still lodged in my throat. I ordered the soup and it was good. The waitress took off the price of the fish and the soup which was nice.
We will be back because it was a great atmosphere and quiet and that was just a mistake."

"Found the food to be very good - inventive, yet comforting - wonderful experience of taste and texture. I can't imagine anyone thinking that the prices were low, but we have paid a lot more for less and, more importantly - the food was worth more than we paid. The service was personable, casual but committed, aware and our server always gave us space to enjoy ourselves. I look forward to going back very soon... and I'll bet the place hums in the spring and summer!"

"Food was excellent - drink offerings were creative. Felt some entrees were too large, while others were sized just right. Would be nice to see more balance. Server was very accommodating, but wasn't as attentive as we had hoped - probably due to a busy brunch time. The server underscored the fact that "butter" was used liberally in a few dishes - this could be off-putting to some. Perhaps the menu could code entrees with a rating on dairy, proportion size, etc. It was a little on the noisy side and would have preferred to be away from tables with children, as this was disruptive. The metal surfaces probably add to the noise level. But all in all - it makes for a decent outing for Brunch with family and friends."

"We recently dined at Cafe Belong on two occaisions for dinner, the past two Sat nights. The first time was outstanding, and just to make sure this wasn't a dream, we tried Cafe Belong again the following week, with the same outstanding result. Very few, if any restaurants we have been to (anywhere), deserve "across the board" outstanding ratings. It would simply be irresponsible to rate Cafe Belong anything less. The food is inventive without being gimmicky, extremely high quality ingredients, and delivered in an imaginative presentation. We went with the communal dinner (chef's choice) and were blown away. And the service was outstanding too; attentive without being rushed. Above and beyond!"
