Heavy Seas Alehouse is a place where sailors tell stories but pyrates make legends! It is high time fans of Heavy Seas Beer are able to experience Baltimore’s best and locally owned craft brewery in its own ship. Our menu features fresh and seasonal ingredients that we source locally whenever possible. The dishes are simple in appearance with bold and assertive flavors that stand up to the intense beers we are known for…ARRRRGGGHHHH! The Alehouse is located in the Tack Factory building and combines the charm and character of the historic space with the bold industrial elements reminiscent of the Holland Tack Factory that occupied the building for more than 90 years.
"I would not choose this restaurant just for the food, though it was good. I had the portabello sandwich which was actually delicious and my husband had the steak, he says it was pretty good! I enjoy the selection of local beers the best. I would go next time and get beer and some bar food."

"As always we were not disappointed at the Heavy Seas Alehouse Sunday. It was a special occasion, the service by Zach was fun and spot on. Holy Sheet was available and the entrees, appetizers, and deserts were perfectly prepared."

"this was a 2nd chance try. everything only okay for me but companion would give higher marks to the beer. if that's why you are going it's fine. one standout: house made chips. and onion rings a B+. we usually go to My Thai next door & will again for dinner since it goes beyond beer. but for beer & food....food is pricey for a bar."

"Stopped by for the first time Friday night with 2 couple and was quite pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. We started out with a mix of different brews and each person was happy with the choice they made with the waiter's assistance. Then we cycled through most of appetizers (oysters, cheese board, meat board, etc.) but the mussels definitely stood out as some of the best any of us have had. The waiter was a tad bit insistently on making sure he fully delivered whatever message he had in mind but overall the service was almost "very good". It is a neat place with all kinds of rooms to accommodate whatever type / size group you might bring but know that the neighborhood seemed ok but definitely in transition to something better."

"Not just an alehouse. This place has GREAT food! For lunch I like the fried oyster po'boy which has some locally grown greens and bacon on a long bun. The side salad that comes with the entree isn't just thrown together as an after thought. It's a nice mixed of greens that are very fresh. The burger is also great! The beer needs no introduction since they're among the best local craft brews."

"Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, and was very knowledgeable about the menu and beers, as well as generally enthusiastic. The food was excellent, as was the beer (though I think I bit off more than I could chew with the stout aged in bourbon barrels - I managed to drink it, but it was quite strong! I opted for a easier-drinking beer for the second round). I highly recommend the Lambic/Framboise float for dessert! The only downside was the view out the window (it's located in a light industrial area full of warehouses and machine shops), but the view inside more than made up for it."

"easier to hear other tables conversation than our own, it was very LOUD! Appetizers were very quick out of the kitchen. Our meals were slow and arrived and arrived sporadically. The food was great!"

"The main course took a long time to appear, but that is my only real criticism. We were seated right away, the waitress was attentive with water refills, and the kitchen even took the effort to split the entree two of us had ordered to share onto two plates, which we appreciated. Appetizer came pretty quickly, too. Food was very good. The onion rings are great, and the burger was really good. And of course delicious Heavy Seas beer on tap!"

"There was no trouble getting seated immediately for our reservation for 8 on a busy Saturday night and I liked when I said my name she said "Oh Yes!, We are all ready for you!". Nice. The service was very good and the waitress knowledgable about the beers. A couple of mishaps on orders (no onion rings, missing drinks) but were remedied right away! The 2 orders of cornbread for the table didn't go over well but the Pork Belly Brulee did-fabulous. The filet mignon was wonderful, so was the duck, the shrimp salad was said to be too salty but the brussel sprouts were the bomb! The maple ice cream, Red velvet cheesecake, brownie and Apple Tart were very good too. I got the Rootbeer Float which brought me back to my childhood. Great night!"

"It's more than a brew pub, way more! Yes, the beer is excellent, but the items we tried off the small but varied menu were all creative, well paired tastewise, and beautifully presented. Most ingredients are sourced locally and/or sustainably. Our choices -- salmon ceviche, mussles and fries, and pan roasted salmon -- were all delicious. And the ambiance of the old factory building adds a great finishing touch. Highly recommended!"

"The emphasis is obviously on the beer. However, the food is better than you may expect. The pork belly appetizer was delicious, crispy and flavorful. The duck entree was pretty decent, too. This place is not an upscale foodie stop. But it certainly doesn't disappoint. The kitchen is in a constant mode of experimentation, as was evident in the strawberry pepper sorbet. The service, by Danny, was exceptional. And as we all know, that holds just as much weight as the food on the plate."

"We have been a number of times and the food is always great. The last two visits the service was not good - the waitress seemed to forget about us for long periods of time. We had to track her down just to get more drinks because the food took so long to come out."

"This place has a lot of potential. We were there for a Birthday party and we had the back room. The entire building is beautiful! Great ambiance. Beer/wine/cocktail menu was perfect. Portions for appetizers and dinner were small, but filling just the same! We had only one server who was great, but we all couldn't help but notice that the place was not packed. There were so many employees, that they seemed to be tripping over one another and not helping out as they should. They seemed to just be hanging out while we waited patiently for our food and drinks. It was a bit too long, and when our server clearly asked for help, she didn't get it. She was great, but needed help!"

"We really enjoyed our first experience at this restaurant. We are fans of the beer already and were pleasantly surprised at the selections and what new beers they had on tap. We tried a variety of foods---oysters, onion rings, salmon, cesaer salad, brasied short ribs, Cuban sandwich--all were wonderful and I would recommend them all. We had our six month old with us and the staff was extremely accomadating and the atmostshpere was lively enough that our son's mild fussing wasn't even noticed. A great place to eat and I would recommend it highly."

"I've been here before, and I do recommend it. This time, I had the shrimp salad sandwich. It was really good, not overdressed. It comes with field greens, which is a nice alternative to fries. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts. They were good in terms of removing the bitterness, but I thought they were maybe a little too rich. My sister strongly recommends the burger."

"This was a great find. I was looking for a spot to take my son for his birthday and I know he liked the Heavy Seas Brewery. Of course they had all the Heavy Seas beers but they also have a great selection of cocktails made with the beers. They were very inventive and great tasting. The service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the bar. The food was great. Simple dishes prepared and presented well with beer pairing suggestions in the menu. Gastro pub without being snooty."

"We waited 15 minutes without being seen by any staff. Finally after asking the hostess if we were maybe in the wrong section- she took our drink order. Our server spent the rest of the evening avoiding eye contact with us and making as few trips to the table as possible.
Food was adequate, the snacks and appetizers weren't great. Entrees were alright, but nothing to write home about. The highlights of our meal were the the burgers and cocktails! Not a Foodie's paradise, but a great place for a burger & fries."

"A group of friends and I went to Heavy Seas Alehouse since it's our favorite beer. We had a great time sampling beers- and the staff was very knowledgeable about how the beers taste, how they differ from each other, etc. The food was good (not for the weight watchers out there) and the ambiance was nice."

"I like Heavy Seas much better now that the menu is less focused around the raw bar items. I'm happy to have more appetizer and entree options instead. They have the best onion rings I've ever had--consistently light, crunchy, and flavorful. And of course the beer is amazing!"

"The food was good but nothing special. I really wanted Key Lime Pie but they were out of it and I didn't find out until after I had ordered it. Also, for some reason we got food that we didn't order. I don't recall ordering it but I may have been thinking aloud and the server thought I was ordering it. Anyway, it was good, but I doubt I will go back. So many other restaurants to try in Baltimore!"

"Just because Heavy Seas calls itself an alehouse, don;t think this place is a bar. The menu is on the expensive side, there are just a few sandwiches and everything else is in the $18-25 range. With that said, my meal was excellent."

"The food was very good and service was excellent..at first. We chose the Cask Sirenoir beer(yummy) The restaurant filled a little more and a bachlorette party was seated right next to us with about 8 girls, doing shots and then another table of 6 (couples). The saving grace was our waitress was so nice to us in the beginning or I would not have complained about service decline. We ordered dessert, that took at least 20 mins. It was key lime pie, and not worth the wait. All in all, our waitress was really great, except for the decline in end. Food was good. Ambiance...I teeter, bachlorette and romantic...do not go together."

"It was Restaurant Week so I tried one of the entrees from that menu. The chicken was very good, the steamed broccoli cheddar cheese rarebit and toasted bread crumbs kept me looking for the rarebit sauce. I did order an additional side of brussels sprouts that were absolutely to die for, I have never had brussels sprouts so good!! The creme'breau was very good also. I ordered a "peach bounty" to drink and what a smooth wonderful drink. I will definitely go back."
