Butera's Restaurant of Sayville
Butera's Restaurant of Sayville is a full service, fine dining "Family-Style" Italian restaurant serving seafood, steaks, veal, chicken and pastas dishes. "Family-style" dining affords groups the opportunity to sample many dishes at one time. We also serve individual portions upon request. We have a full bar and extensive wine list as well as an assortment of homemade desserts. There is sidewalk seating in beautiful downtown Sayville when the weather permits. Our lounge dining room provides private dining for groups of 25 - 40. We also cater larger parties in our other two dining rooms. Off-premise catering is a specialty of Butera's. Please join us for lunch. We have Italian dishes, focaccia sandwiches, burgers and wraps with an Italian slant. as well as wonderful composed salads. Lunch is done individually.

"The food for our party of five was delicious and the table server was very efficient. However, we were not able to finish the ample portions of food and requested that the leftovers be boxed for take home. Unfortunately the busboy neglected to box our lasagna meal, which we only half finished. Since we had several other take home boxes, we did not realize his error until we got home. Inasmuch as this lasagna dish is one of our favorite meals, we were extremely dissappointed since we were looking forward to a second enjoyable meal at home. Next time we intend to be sure our leftovers are boxed at our table, not in the kitchen out of sight. We must admit this error put a "damper" on our overall favorable dining experience."

"Seven people, in our sixties or seventies, who knew each other from college days met for dinner on a Tuesday night. We were given a round table in a corner and that meant we were out of the mainstream and could hear each other even across the table. The waitress was so far above great........no matter what we asked she did her best to take good care of us. We ordered 3 'double' entrees and one single one and had plenty to take home. All meals were delicious! Desserts were delicious also."

"We've been here once before - the food is pretty good, that's not our complaint. The complaint is that we made a 7 pm reservation and we didn't get seated until 7:45. The hostess tells us when we arrived that "we'll seat you when a table opens up". Why did I even need to make a reservation? People that walked in were told the same thing as us. We weren't the only ones waiting either. Seems like they overbook on purpose just to get as many customers as they can. I just found this to be annoying. The food was good, the staff were attentive and kind."

"I came to Butera's for dinner a recent Friday evening. We had a party of 8 and our table was ready when we arrived. Service was initially very good. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir that was a special and when we were told the restaurant was out of it, we were offered a very nice substitute for the same price. Food was very good. Once we were served our main course the service level dropped off. We had to ask more than once for water to be brought to our table. When we were finished eating our main courses, we waiting longer than we should have to have our plates cleared and order coffee/dessert. Otherwise we had a nice dinner and we would be willing to try Butera's again."

"We chose Butera's for a late afternoon Mother's Day dinner. We were a party of 8 adults and one infant. The staff was great, very accomodating with friendly and efficient service. The family-style dishes were plentifull and everything we chose was absolutely delicious, especially the Grilled Salmon Medallions! Being a holiday, the dining room was full and the tables a bit too close together. Despite that, I will return and will definitely recommend Butera's of Sayville to friends."

"Prices reasonable for huge portion sizes. Nice that you can order 1/2 portion but they charge 60% , not 50%.
Still the 1/2 size can feed at least 3 people.
The veal chop was outstanding and at $44 for 2, a real bargain. Last time here, had the shrimp parmigiana that was delicious.

"First time at this location - food is exceptional - cannot beat the portion sizes or the taste - I had the steak special and it was fabulous - the service was not great - took 15 solid minutes for the waitress to "finally" get to our table to greet us and to take a drink order and then another 15 minutes to get the drinks, - one of our guests asked that her chicken gorgonzola be fried instead of grilled and we were told "no problem" but it came out grilled and it was about 15 minutes before the waitress came to our table to see how things were and when we told her - she said that she would check to see if it was her fault or the kitchen - we never did get an answer - we will be back"

"A great place with family style servings. We got put in the extra room in front which was disappointing but quiet. It is a good room for a large group but if you are alone you feel like an outcast. I love the other larger rooms which are louder and more happening.

"Our table was ready for us and it was even Good Friday. We were greeted and orders were promptly taken. The food was delicious--we had the chicken francaise (which is pretty much my standard order for whenever I'm at an Italian restaurant) and it was one of the better ones i've had. It took awhile for the food to come out and one of us ordered a soda midway through dinner that took a little longer than was comfortable, but we lingered at our table once we were finished for a good amount of time and nobody rushed us out. It was a really good dinner and an enjoyable evening out."

"My fiancé and I went to Butera's for my birthday. It was the first time we dined at this Butera's location. We felt welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. "The food was delicious. We shared the chicken and shrimp with vodka sauce. We couldn't stop eating it. I loved the Italian wedding soup, the best I've ever had. My dessert was the amaretto and almond cake and it was amazing. Our waitress was also great, sweet, efficient and knowledgable. I can't wait to go back, although I do wish it wasn't so noisy."

When we went to use it we were told that it can only be used in the Smithtown Restaurant, not Sayville...That was kind of a bummer, since it was from their website and they, I understand, are the same owners.
