Active and bustling, in the "Trattoria Style", this Woodbury location of Butera's offers quality food at a great value. Known for their generous portions of pasta entrees, grilled fare, and fresh fish, Butera's has established a fine reputation as a neighborhood place where guests often see people they know.
It is owned and operated by Martin Butera, his wife Laurie, Martin's brother Gary Butera, and partner and chef Nick Zografos. The large open room is tastefully decorated with a traditional and contemporary mix, with rich dark woodwork and stone treatments, granite table tops, a wood and granite bar, fieldstone and hardwood floors, stone fireplace, exposed wine racks and a Tiffany style fixture at the entrance. Fresh flowers complete the handsome decor.
In addition to their extensive menu you can select from the creative specials like Grilled Filet of Halibut with Prince Edward Island Mussels on a citrus rosemary butternut squash risotto.
"The food at Buteras was delicous and the portions are ample. Our server was delightful When the place is full it can be noisy and hard to carry in a conversation so ask for a table. In the back of the dining room."

"Met friends who had never been here before. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The hostess honored my request for a special table we prefer and was delightful with her help The waitress was cheery, bright and very well trained. She was able to distinguish/explain the types of draught/tap beer, so that we could choose which beer was appropriate for our taste and food. The kitchen presented well cooked and eye appealing dishes and the meal was properly paced between courses
An enjoyable evening was had - as we have had at other Butera's with family and friends"

"Overall experience was very good; I'm a returning customer from many years ago. The current experience is far better then previous years; I will continue to recommend. I've been back 6 times in the past 4months."

"We visited Butera's in Woodbury on a recent Sunday evening as a party of 6 with reservations. We were kept waiting for 15 min as they waited for a particular table to be vacated. The young and inexperienced team in charge this evening appeared as if they couldn't care less and left us feeling like they were doing us a favor by seating us at all. As for the food - good but overpriced. My teenage son ordered chicken parm as he does nearly everywhere we eat and paid $23 or about 40% more than at most other restaurants. It didn't deserve the premium price. For the amateur staff, a tavern like atmosphere and relatively high prices it just doesn't measure up. Think Cheesecake Factory - but with unpolished service and much higher prices."

"Butera's has an extensive Italian style menu of rib sticking food. Reservations are a must and are honored promptly. Service is attentive and not intrusive. Salads are varied and offer the diner a choice of meat or fish as toppings. A salmon entree was moist and tasty, a ravioli special was a good example of "rib sticking" and a steak dish was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is noisy and was packed on a Monday night, testament to its popularity."

"The menu @ Butera's is huge! The portions are equally huge. We dined on Mother's Day and the server Jen was not at all phased by the crowd. She provided us with our drinks quickly as we munched on hot garlic knots and looked over the menu. The appetizers came quickly as did all the courses. Each course was served seamlessly and we were a group of 7. They never rushed us & we felt relaxed but taken care of. The pasts dishes were all served piping hot the shrimp were extra large & the chicken meatballs were outstanding! The desserts were yummy & served on nicely decorated plates. The warm chocolate torte was delicious."

"This restaurant is almost right near my house and I have to tell you that you could not find a better place in this neighborhood. I have been with a group of friends now several times to this place in Woodbury and each time it's an "A". The tables are large the food wonderful, large portions, the staff are just great and friendly. You can go here from a small dinner party to a birthday celebration get together to just a nice romantic dinner. Even at the bar you can catch a game. Plenty of parking and reasonable prices. A must on your list of Woodbury & Nassau restaurants. Reservations are honored."

"Had a reservation for 7 pm on a Friday night to spend time with some girlfriends. The reservation was honored promptly, but we felt as if they were pushing, pushing pushing, which we resisted by not ordering right away. We could tell the waitress wasn't happy because we were preventing her from turning over the table quickly. They place was packed, we couldn't hear each other talking, there was nothing special about the food, but it was plentiful. All of us took home doggy bags. If you want a lot to eat for not too much money, and don't care what it taste like, I guess this is the place. Otherwise, find somewhere else to go. I will not be going back."

"We had a very pleasant experience although we did have to wait about 20 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. The food was excellent and our guests said the penne vodka was the best they ever had! The portions were generous and the Caesar salad was huge and fed two people. That is quite a recommendation. We will definitely be back!"

"Portions are huge! I had pasta with shrimp, calamari in a marinara sauce. The sauce was bland and watery and covered the entire dish. Grated Parmesan was tasteless. Looked as if it were sitting out for a long time. Service was quick - maybe too quick. Table for four was a bit small, servers had to keep re-arraning salt, pepper, glasses, to make room for plates.
Noise level was very high. tables were close together. The chair of the woman behind me was closer than my wife's, who was next to me. No space to get up.
Place is popular because of the portion size, not because of the quality of the food!"
