SALT is a modern-urban gastro pub bringing together the highest-quality local ingredients. Our starting point is Hawaii"s farms, fishermen, and purveyors. From there, we add an extensive wine list featuring unique selections from around the world, signature cocktails that make use of distinctive spirits and herbal liquors, and a variety of refreshing beers on draught and in-bottle.
"The food and ambience were spot on, and so was the service. This wasn't a busy night so luckily our food came out on time. Not too fast or slow. Would recommend for both couples and groups, but maybe not kids. Great overall ."

"Overall we had a very interesting and good first visit to Salt Kitchen and Tasting Bar. The portions were very tiny and a little expensive. This was the kind of place where you were eating with your eyes more than your mouth. Great attention to detail was given by the staff in constructing each item and its presentation in intricate detail. The loft or mezzanine dining room was unique but totally non-compliant with ADA Standards for a modern restaurant. Also the wait staff tripped and fell bringing up food up the steep stairs which disrupted the dining room once. An Elevator or ADA Lift is a reasonable accommodation for handicapped customers and the dining support staff. All of the wait help were very well trained and great."

"Simply put: relocate Salt in Manhattan or Williamsburg, Brooklyn and it would easily receive three New York Times stars."

"Started with the Charcuterie tray then the Potatoe fries with the gnocci plate. Ended with the chocolate fudge cake - all simple and excellent. Good experience."

"Salt is one of the places that is both great for meeting friends (at the bar downstairs) and for a nice dinner with someone (upstairs). Great food and drink pairing, and knowledgeable wait staff to guide you to good choices. I love the emphasis on local products!"

"Comfortable spot for a couple of drink and appetizers. Really enjoed th oxtail empenadas and charcuterie. Duck duck ramen did not have enough taste to pull the dish together and disappointed."

"Nothing was outstanding. Cocktails, for which they are supposedly noted for, tasted medicinal. Flash fried oysters and tako were both good, but chicken liver pâté was more like a mousse, and oddly seasoned. I found the place a bit pretentious, but that would not bother me if the food hit the mark. I see what they're shooting for, but they miss on too many fronts."

"The food is overpriced for what you get. The fish of the day was dry and lacked flavor. The decor is disjointed. The beer selection and service were good, but not worth returning."

"Many restaurateurs here on Oahu should take notice to Salts customer service while providing unique, delicious food. Having never been to Salt, I expected the usual fare Honolulu has to offer. However, upon our arrival to Salt we were greeted with a smile. The staff was not about expediting the service. They were about helpful service with a positive rapport. Clever cocktail creations from the menu led way to delectable food choices. Salt offers a WOW factor I simply cannot explain with-in such a short review. We will return."

"Made reservations on Open Table for Valentines Day after checking their menu, etc. Arrived to find only a limited 4 course fixed menu at $55. Food and service was good but not what we expected as there was no mention on the Open Table website that the regular menu would not be available."

"The only thing I could say would've improved my experience was our server kept saying he forgot something and returned to our table to have us repeat it. Then when it came to ordering a second drink it was hard to grab his attention and once ordered there was quite a long wait before it ever made it to the table. We also wanted more bread but that never made it to the table either."

"We've been here twice now and able to taste some other items on the menu. So far, they all have been good. We had to have the fried oysters again, but they were a little sweeter this time. (They must have altered the recipe.) The service is terrific and the ambiance is very cool."

"Delicious food; loud, hipster, slightly over-air-conditioned premises. I highly recommend the flash fried oysters and the horchata pot de creme. The flash fried oysters in particular were out of this world. The gnocchi were tasty when fresh but cooled too quickly. The "crispy" fingerling potatoes had great flavor but were not, in fact, crispy. Overall a very nice dinner."

"Saw Salt on the cover of a magazine of "Hawaii's Best Restaurants", so I was expecting the food to be amazing. We ordered the cheese board, charcuterie board, clams, and shrimp tacos. By far the best thing I ate all night was the cheese board. The charcuterie board and clams were ok, nothing special. The shrimp tacos were gross. I couldn't even eat as a taco because it was so soggy the tortilla ripped as soon as I tried to pick it up. The tortilla was over powering with a very "doughy" taste, and although there were a lot of ingredients inside the taco it was lacking in flavor. Overall impression: Meh.."

"This place gives a good name to 'Hip', honest food without pretention backed by a solid bar and wine list. With a group of 7 we were able to canvas the entire menu. The food is old world but contemporary and the more viceral cuts of meat are made to be accessable to the lay public (read unidentifiable, i.e. the beef tongue is a retangular morsel of slow cooked beef that sees the grill just before serving - nothing that looks like it will taste you back!). Portions are such that multiple plates are recomended to round out your meal unless you opt for the tasting style samplers. The key ingredient you will find other thatn local freshness is 'time'; if not labor intensive it certainly takes all day to prepare - no lazy food here!"
