"This is a kitchen that knows what its doing. The food and the service were top notch. We were there for Mother's Day brunch (a day that stresses many kitchens to the max) and found they were more than up to the challenge. The cornmeal pancakes were fluffy and nutty with that light, but rich, taste of corn. A hint of vanilla made them unforgettable and the sprinkling of huckleberries on top added just the right amount of fruity sweetness. The quiche of the day was kale, bacon, and scallion. The crunchy/flaky crust encased a lightly creamy filling that was not too overly cheesy (a mistake made by many kitchens). I could go on and on (and did, but my review was too long so I had to cut it!). Suffice to say, this place is a gem.....go!"

"My husband and I along with two special friends, had a wonderful meal on Mother's Day, possibly the worst day of the year for dining out. The server was very knowledgable, attentive but not hovering, and the food was outstanding! Everyone enjoyed their meal and the delicious wine. Everyone agreed that the service and meal were not the norm for this very busy day. I usually avoid eating out on Mother's Day and will postpone the celebration to the following weekend, but not any more, we will definately return to the Wine Kitchen often and especially on Mother's DAy!"

"Go here for the wine and food. If the weather is nice dinning outside is a plus. We have eaten here about five to six times. Few indoor tables and their arrangement is problematic for any privacy. On a couple of occasions the hostess was difficult and arrogant."

"My wife ordered a filet, which was divine. My strip/loin was less so. Expertly cooked, but so filled with gristle that it was difficult to enjoy many of the pieces I cut. still our appetizers were wonderful (oysters, cheese sampler, ramp biscuits) and the mash and beans that accompanied the beef were outstanding. We enjoyed our wine flights immensely (glad we weren't driving) The whole experience was certainly 5 star, but I wish I'd ordered the filet."

"The restaurant has a hip, modern feel inside. We were seated promptly. Our waiter, Matthew, was fantastic, very attentive but gave us enough time to have a leisurely dinner and let our food settle before the next course came on. Highlights: The wine samplers were great, the local beet salad was fantastic, and the new york strip with onions and roasted mushrooms was divine. Also the Milk Chocolate pot au creme is a must have for dessert. Negatives (and these are nit picky because this place was great): The cheese platter was good but all of the cheeses were soft cheeses. It would be nice to have a little more variety. My husband's steak was slightly over cooked. I wish there were more dessert options although the one we had was great"

"Overall we had a pleasant experience here. Be prepared for somewhat laid-back service, it wasn't bad, just a bit slow, especially between courses. The pork rinds and guacamole were good, but we had way too many rinds compared to the amount of guacamole. The tuna entree was good and not overcooked (as some places tend to do tuna). The soft shell crab special was quite good. Wine flights are a nice way to determine what goes best with your meal."

"Yum. Yum-yum-yum. If you're in Frederick, you won't be disappointed. While I've had a few items that were "meh" on previous visits (like some odd braised shrimp thing--what was I thinking? Tasty green chile/coconut sauce, but who wants soggy *braised* shrimp?), this time I hit the jackpot. Every salad I've tried has been fresh & delicious, but the beet salad is gorgeous. The trio of charcuterie selections was amazing & served with wildly tasty pickled veggies, house-made mustard, & red onion jam. We ate every molecule! Then we went simple w/ french-dip burgers & they were crazy good... Crazy good. Of course the wine is excellent & it is fun to do the tasting flights, but the staff really seems to want you to be happy & that goes a long way."

"Totally positive experience. Very interesting menu. The food was all prepared perfectly, all fresh and delicious . The bacon biscuits with maple butter were absolutely out of his world. Very cool wine tasting option at a really reasonable price. Wonderful selection of wines. Note to other diners: when coming to a restaurant that advertises that wine is it's specialty, GET A BABYSITTER! While the staff couldn't be nicer or more accommodating, this is not a place for little children. There was another couple with a baby when we were there and thankfully only a few shreiks came from their direction. But even a few shrieks can ruin the moment of enjoying the wine and of course, the wonderful food."

"This was the third time we had been to the Wine Kitchen. The first two times were when they had just opened, many months ago, so we gave them a pass on their excruciatingly slow service and poor communication. Unfortunately, on our third visit, this hadn't changed and I'm afraid we won't go back.
Arrived at 8:00 for our reservation, we were told that it would be just a few minutes as our table wasn't yet ready. We could see an empty table for 4 ready right behind their waiting area but figured there must be a reason for them not to seat is there. Anyway, 20 minutes later, they told us that our table was finally ready and guess where? You guessed it - the table which had been ready since we walked in! The whole dinner would go like that."

"Great food, beautifully presented. Now that Volt no longer serves lunch, I'm glad Wine Kitchen continues to offer a two-course fixed-price option. It's a lovely treat. I also appreciate the option to get a small tasting of wine at lunch, as a full pour is usually more than I want at that time."

"My only complaint is that to get to the restaurant from the garage, you have to go in an office building, up in an elevator, and back outside. When we left, the door to the office building was locked. As we stood there in the rain trying to figure out which way to go, someone from the restaurant came out with a key and let us into the building."

"A fun restaurant with an exciting menu, set on an intr-city canel with great ambiance. Unusual combinations of tastes. The wine selection was good. As an apatizer we had the cold meat selections as well as the tuna tar-tar with pistachios. We particularly enjoyed the chicken liver pate as well as the cured ham on the meat tray. The fish was wonderful.
For our main entre my wife enjoyed the scallops while I had the herb and lemon chicken which was cooked perfectly. Our daughter has the vegetable pot pie and ate every bite.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive. There is a larger seating area, but we were a group of six so sat in a semi-private room. Would go again."

"This was our second trip to the Wine Kitchen and I continue to be impressed. The menu was completely different, with only one or two items that carried over. I love that they use locally sourced ingredients. Everything was fresh and made to perfection. Lot's of detail in the plating as well as the flavor combinations. Five stars all the way!!"

"First time there. Very enjoyable. We tried several appetizers and a shared dessert in addition to entrees. Everything was tasty. Our server was very attentive and even managed to sell us a bottle of wine. We will be back, especially after the outdoor seating is available.

"The food though pricey was excellent! The 'Butcher's Cut' pork was indeed awesome. Would have liked to have seen more,or at least a few,common dishes in lieu of gourmet dishes. I.e. no regular tossed salads or common potatoes (baked ?) for the non adventurous diner.

"Really enjoyed our dinner at the Wine Kitchen. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. My wife and I each tried a flight of reds. The Petite Sirah's were excellent. The Pinot Noir's I tried were OK, but I am not a big Pinot fan. The ability to purchase a flight gave me the chance to try a few without having to purchase a glass or bottle and risk being disappointed. The wait staff was knowledgeable and professional while also being very personable which added to the experience.
You owe it to yourself to give this place a try."

"We have been to the Wine Kitchen several times and find the food to be really good. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. We liked the fact that at dinner you could order anything from a corned beef sandwich to a salad to Lambs belly dinner. We especially enjoyed the taste menu for the wines; one of our party is a beer lover and he would have enjoyed the same taste menu opportunity for the beers.
We have dined outdoors and indoors; indoors got a bit noisy for dinner on a Saturday night, but we still enjoyed the evening."

"Option of ordering flights of wine was great. Cheese and bread and curry cashews we chose as starters were excellent. The scallop entree was superb; almost loved the onions better than the scallops!
