"J. Michael's did an outstanding job from service to food for Mom's day. We loved the sea food spread and the menu entrees. I had the eggs and filet which were perfect. Buffet had half lobsters!!! One of the teenagers had an event immediately following and wasn't interested in the menu items....J. Michael's only charge us for the buffet - didn't have too but great service. Never empty glass of mimosa. Looking forward to going for dinner."

"The staff at J. Michaels was warm and inviting from the valet to the bartender everyone was really nice. The servers were extremely knowledgeable and courteous. The executive sirloin was out of this world! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great night out."

"Our first visit to J Michaels was for a special occasion thank you dinner for my wife and two of our closest friends. The staff assisted me in coordinating a beautiful suprise. They discretely upon my arrival took the gift for my wife and we selected a wine from the list to have at the table when we were seated. They ensured that we all arrived together as a group to the table upstairs. You can truly see the attention to every detail that has been put into every aspect of this establishment. Everyone from the owner who greeted me at the door to our servers, made us feel pampered and comfortable including some great stories and a few laughs along the way. It was truly one of the best experiences dining we have had to date."

"While the food was good and the service was very good, I find it hard to justify $300 for a good meal when there are many good/great restaurants nearby where a similar meal with great service can be had for half that."

"Very $$$$, food was good but I feel for the price there are much better choices on Long Island with better atmosphere and service. Way too noisey for a romantic dinner. Probably won't return but made the best out of the night."

"The food was good. I had the filet without the bone. It was good, but I thought it was expensive for what you got. The steaks to me were too large. There's no choice if you want to order something smaller. There's no reason someone has to eat a 22 oz steak. You could charge less, get a smaller piece of meat and the meal wouldn't cost as much."

"The food here was delicious. The gorgonzola bread when we sat was to die for! The appetizers (i.e. lobster mealballs- wow!), sides and the desserts were probably the high point of the meal. Don't get me wrong- the steaks were delicious but were not the best I've had from a LI restaurant and no doubt were the most expensive I have ever had. But dinner was lovely and the portions were big. The staff was wonderful and they did not rush us out of the restaurant which was nice, too. As you exit the restuarant a sign is displayed on the inside of the awning- "Till we eat again.' Indeed- I would definitely go back to try some of the other yummy sounding items on the menu."

"The unexpected gorgonzola bread was terrific and the NY strip steak was one of the best I've ever eaten. The side dishes were ok but the chocolate pie was fabulous. An odd thing to note - the pleasant man who served the gorganzola bread made a production over a drop of cheese dripping onto my fork when he served the bread. I told him I was ok with keeping the fork but he was adament that it would be replaced by a "clean fork". Strangely, he never returned with a fork. When my food was served, I had to request a fork from the waiter. There were a few odd things like this with the staff - we assumed they must all be new and in training."

"Amazing meal from start to finish. Super fresh, delicious food. Nicely prepared cocktails and very fun, upbeat and knowledgable service. We couldn't have asked for any more. I finally found an exceptional restaurant in Northport, very excited."

"We dined here for Valentine's Day which probably made it a bit more crowded than perhaps is usual. The service was somewhat slow and the area (upstairs) was very noisy. I would not consider this a romantic atmosphere. The appetizers and main course were excellent, especially the lobster soup and stuffed shrimp. I experienced filet mignon on the bone, which was a first for me and it was probably the best steak I've ever had. I would say that the prices were extremely high, even for the great quality food. Perhaps they were raised for the Valentine's Day menu? We would have preferred quieter, more intimate surroundings, but the food warrants a return trip for us for a special occasion."

"Three of us dined on a very cold Sunday evening and place was fairly crowded; we had been assigned table on second floor but hostesss saw that one of us was handicapped and, after a quick three-minute wait at the bar, accommodated us with a table on the first floor. Service overall was excellent, from the bartender to main waiter to the bus boys. When we asked for take-out bag for leftovers, it was placed in our car with the valet. The steaks were first rate and cooked to perfection; right up there with any of the well known NYC joints, as were the sides. Of course the prices were also right up there as well - $110 for a porterhouse for two, but well worth it for special occassion or business."

"Very disappointing experience. They overcooked my filet. Ordered medium. Came out well done. Filet was fatty & chewy. Service went downhill after they served our main course. Instead of ordering dessert & coffee we decided to.just get the check instead . Took 20 minutes to.get check. We will not return."

"Food was excellent, service was great. It was a very enjoyable dining experience, not sure if it is worth the price point. From a value perspective our meals were on the pricey side."

"Overall...great restaurant! This was not my first time here and the food is consistently excellent. The service was very good ~ attentive but not obtrusive. The only thing I didn't care for was the live music... The singer was very good but it was much too loud for such a confined space... He was wedged into a tiny space between the bar and the dining room and it just made conversation impossible at our table... I would've asked for another table but it was late and we were hungry. When I go again, and I will because the food is that good, I would rather go on a night that there's no live entertainment."

"I've been to some of the best restaurants on Long Island. I have to say that J. Michaels tuscan steakhouse is by far the best. The food was outstanding but the service was second to none. The only caveat to this is the price. You have to come prepared to spend. If you are prepared then you will no question have an excellent night out."

"We were baffled by the "gregarious" waiter in such a small, lovely setting. With only about 10 tables off a beautifully appointed bar area with pale lighting we thought it would be hushed and romantic. It often seemed more like we were dining at Carmines in NYC than this small neighborhoood spot. We knew it would be pricey and had no issue with that, but also made the assumption that the food would be deserving of ooh's and ahh's. Again, disappointment. My husband had a $70+ steak that as "unremarkable" and arrived as a steak on a plate;sides ordered separately. My veal was good but not one I will remember. The lobster bisque WAS delicious; a short rib appetizer was okay, again not memorable."
