"I made a large(r) reservation for a Sunday morning prior to a graduation, for 10 adults. The ambiance/decor of the place is great, the food was good and fairly prompt. The service was awful however. The waiter had to be promptly repeated to refill water and coffee glasses, and several members of the group were drinking mimosas which he was incredibly slow on refreshing. The server was also very clumsy, sloshing beverages around and dripping all over the table. I have worked at a full-service restaurant myself for almost 5 years in Chicago, and was personally very disappointed. My party was not impressed at all, and I won't return to this spot for brunch."

"Went to Brasserie by LM to celebrate two special occaisions. Found the "Bottomless Mimosa Brunch" to be "just right". It was not a buffet (which was nice) and the menu selections were a nice mix of options...there were 5 of us and we were all pleased. The music volume was just right and it was not super crowded. We sat at a table near the window and enjoyed the view of Michigan Avenue and people watching. We were also able to find street parking a half a block away!"

"We went to Brasserie by LM for Mother's Day and had a lovely brunch. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was modern and in a great location and still managed to be reasonably priced."

"I echo comments about mixed and slow service quality. I had to ask to get my bill. Bread is poor quality for a modern French bistro. The egg on the lyonnaise salad was way overcooked - basically a fried egg with little yolk but the rest of the salad - dressing, lardons, frisee/mix was good. The mussels in wine and garlic along with fries were excellent.
Give it a try but set expectations carefully."

"The overall experience was incredible! I enjoyed every minute of it! I would totally recommend this restaurant...it has a great view of Grant Park and a super modern environment. Not to mention that the food was delicious and very affordable too."

"Totally forgetable. Loved the first LM restauarnt in Andersonville. The experience has dininished as the group expanded. Can't think of any reason to go back unless I was staying at the Hilton and was in a hurry"

"My husband and I had steak frites which didn't match our memories of the standard French dish from our three years living aboard. This place has the potential to be a good restaurant if they actually served authentic french food."

"The service was very slow but they kept us informed by letting us know about the kitchen backlog. My experience would have been upsetting except they had the bottomless Mimosa bar. If the food improves and the service gets better I would return."

"I expected a pleasant dining experience given previous visits to other LM restaurants (LM in Lincoln Square, now shuttered, and Troquet), but I was clearly wrong. Brunch shouldn't be difficult - most places make you wait for a table, but once you're seated the service runs like clockwork. But, even with reservations, it took over an hour and a half to get eggs and french toast and when the food finally arrived, it was mediocre at best. We had to ask 3 different servers to get simple things like butter, syrup, refills on coffee because our server was nowhere to be found. The place is huge and the decor is simple; perhaps it warrants another try for dinner, but there are at least 50 brunch spots in Chicago to pick over this one."

"The food was pretty good but the service and ambiance very poor. I got my glass of wine (the wrong one; I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc and received a Chardonnay) 20 minutes after sitting down. The service was slow, and it was only 2:30pm, so not busy at all. It seemed like the waiters also had the role of bartenders! There was music playing when we first walked in but it stopped shortly after and it was very quite the rest of the time. It is too bad because the space is nice and the parisian art enjoyable but I would not recommend this place because of the service and ambiance. I ordered the mussels and they were cooked well. My husband's turkey sandwich was okay."

"We really enjoyed our Easter Brunch! Everyone was very nice. For a holiday, it was crowded which made it a bit slow. But the food was good and we wanted more time to visit anyway - so it was perfect. Nice place to meet my college kids for brunch and lunch."

"This restaurant has a lot of potential. While the food is good, the room is decidedly lacking in ambiance, especially at night. Better lighting and candles on the tables would help a lot. The addition of some better wine selections would also help the overall experience. I would return for lunch, but not for dinner."

"Always looking to add places in Chicago to get a nice, simple French-style plate. The menu and food quality at LM were good. The wine list has a small but nice selection of French wines. I would return except for the lifeless, unappealing atmosphere in the cavernous dining room where my party was seated. The dim lighting at night, the poor table placement, the empty, uncared-for feel. The service is competent but does nothing to make up for that neglected dining space. Too bad, because the room has a nice view of Grant Park, but does nothing to feature or build on this strength."

"This restaurant is one of the few in the neighborhood that doesn't cater to college kids. No TV, no loud music. But it's reasonable in price (my coq au vin was $14) and the food is excellent. I've been here before and I'll go again."

"Our group was over 2 hours late arriving for our reservation, as our flight into Chicago was delayed. I called the restaurant to make them aware of our situation and they were very accomodating, telling us to arrive when we could. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite quiet for a Friday night, although it was 9:30pm. We were seated immediately and drinks were ordered and served quickly. Our meals were delivered in a reasonable amount of time, although one entree seemed to have been forgotten. A complimentary glass of wine was served to make up for the error. The food was hearty and well-prepared. Overall, the dining experieince was fine."

"I think Brasserie is a nice choice in the heart of downtown for a French cuisine experience. I don't know much about French food, but I thought I made selections that were out of my comfort zone, and everything turned out great. I would say the service was a bit slow, considering there was barely anyone in the restaurant and it was a Monday night. I felt like there could have been better followup. We sat by the window and it was pretty cold, maybe not well insulated. But it's also winter in Chicago, so that's a tough call. Overall though, I would say it's worth a try. Would it be my hang out spot, or "go to" restaurant...probably not."

"The fromage and chacuterie plates were great. $5 martini's on Saturday night and good food -- what's not to like. We were especially pleased to have a place where we could hear each other talk. It's a great addition to the neighborhood and you don't feel like you're next to a hotel."

"This restaurant was only selected because of its proximity to our hotel on a rather cold evening. We did end up having a rather enjoyable meal, however. The wait staff was very attentive and responsive, the meal was quite satisfying and delicious (we had french onion soup, coq au vin and beef bourguinon). The chocolate mousse was wonderful, while the bread pudding left a little to be desired (the only disappointment of the evening). I would recommend this little gem of a restaurant to anyone looking for a satisfying meal at a quite reasonable price."

"We had a lovely night at Brasserie by LM! It was quiet and laid back with excellent food choices for Valentine's Day. It was a great in between night that didn't break the bank but still gave us some delicious options. The sweet potato chorizo soup was exquisite and our entrees were very well cooked. Our server was really sweet and gave us a sample of a beer to try, very attentive and cheerful. Overall great choice for a night out that was low key and romantic. Thanks!"
