"We went to Maison Boulud for our 2nd wedding anniversary. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost entirely empty, and yet they managed to give us a table where we were stuck on the people to our left and to our right (we can hear their whole conversation without even trying or wanting to). The food was ok, had higher expectations. We ordered the lobster lasagnette and the milk fed lamb with pasta...there was barely any lamb in the plate. I wouldn't go back."

"I was at Maison Boulud earlier in the year with a group of 8.
Our waiter, a young french man was exceptional for service and we had a pleasant experience. I was anxious to go back.
Last week, we had a different person, a female and it was ok but she would not go out of her way to get better wine, by the glass, that the one that was open that day which was not the case when I was there first with the group and the young man had found a nice one for us.
I ordered Raie meunière and the fish was good but the small potatoes that were served with it could be found in the cheapest restaurant in town... really ordinary. The dining room was almost empty so ambiance was not there and our new experience might explain it."

Je me demande aussi pourquoi les deux dames de la table à ma gauche ont eu droit à des mignardises (macarons) avec leur café, alors que ma table et la table à ma droite n'ont pas bénéficié de cette délicatesse... Faudra peut-être retourner pour le savoir !"

"Probably one of the best restaurants in Montreal, but of course it doesn't compare to Daniel in New York (which is a 3-star). Food quality is about 13-14 Gault-Millau points, and definitely no Michelin star. For this level, the restaurant is overpriced, and so are wines (though they have an extensive list), and only very few go by glass, and those are not well selected.
Interestingly, we got chicken for the main meat course, for which the sommelier suggested red wine... (although probably he did not know that the main course is chicken...)
Ambience is great, service is good"

"Excellent service!!! Very knowledgeable and professional service. I dined here for my close friend's Bachelor Party. We had a blast. I accidentally tipped $30 on a $600 tab without realizing it; I recall handing the credit card swiper back to the server and he didn't even flinch! The next day I returned to Maison Boulud with an envelope containing the additional tip amount. I was sooo embarrassed, but I cannot say enough about how friendly and professional the service and team were. Highly recommended."

"Party of two & first time dining at this restaurant. Food was excellent, very well-prepared. Every element on each plate had distinctive flavor. Ambiance very nice. Neither too loud nor too quiet. Decor contemporary, with warm colors & copper/glass fireplace. Seating very comfortable. Service very fast & courteous. Only very small criticism would be because service was fast & there was different server for every element of the meal (amuse-bouche, cocktails, order, bread, water, sommelier, first course, main course, dessert, coffee) their signals got crossed on couple occasions: Chose one of two wines from sommelier & server brought the one we didn't choose. Also sparkling water glass got refilled with tap water before we could say anything."

"This was the second time my wife and I were going to this restaurant for a lush Saturday lunch. The food and the ambience were excellent as expected. What was not expected was an underwhelming service by our waiter who, I guess, did not find it necessary to elaborate at all on the food he was placing in front of us. I find it difficult to criticize him too harshly because he was likeable and at least he knew his wines. Hopefully this represents an aberration because we like the restaurant and we would like to come back."

"We both had the hamburger at $21.00.each fries were included . it was so mediocre,, I would never recommend the food we ordered.. coffee and tea were the same price..$4.50 each.. quite ridiculous for a tea bag and hot water..Our meal was a big disappointment for the overall cost..!!I have had brunch there and that was excellent."

"Excellent food and service, quiet place. Modern and elegant setting. At this price ($500 for tasting menu and wine pairings for two, including taxes and tip), you would want to be wowed by each plate, but it is not always the case, although everything is very good. There is better value to be had in other high-end places in Montreal, but if you like to try very good restaurants and don't mind overpaying once in a while, you will not regret your experience."
