"We dined here for Mothers Day brunch. It was a wonderful buffet, full of variety and delicious options; boiled shrimp, beef enchiladas, salads, pastas, grilled veggies, etc. The desserts were magnificent. That was our first time at the restaurant, so we looked at the regular menus too. We will be back!"

"The only thing that I didnt like was the "forced" graduation menu. One of the reasons I selected this restaurant was for the variety on the menu and I was a little disappointed that we didnt get to order from the menu"

"La Riveria is a teriffic, if under-appreciated, place for fine dining in Bryan and College Station. Folks looking for a great meal usually end up at the same two or three places in town, but La Riveria can hold its own against those better-known places. Plus, it is much easier to get a table whenever you want.
The only downside is their very limited wine list. Great meals should be accompanied by great wines. Even for most of the wines they do offer, there are much better choices at those same price points. The owner or chef should talk to someone who knows wine and revamp the selections. They don't need to pay big bucks to a professional wine consultant, just ask any of local oenophiles."

"Our luncheon group meets monthly at La Riviera. It is the best restuarant in town for having a lovely meal served in pleasant surroundings with good service."

"La Riviera is ok, and the price was moderate. Two entrees, dessert, a decent bottle of wine and tip came to about $125. The food was just average. I ordered the longhorn--which is a somewhat thinner than expected strip. My date had the striped bass. The striped bass was better than the steak. The steak, ordered medium rare, was more than medium. One of the sides--a mashed potato concoction--was gluey. The server could not tell me what a "longhorn cut" was, describe the fish prep or help with wine selection. He found ways to be both intrusive and unavailable. Nevertheless, I left my average 20%. I put the fault on management who threw him out there with little training. He was polite and pleasant--just interruptive and clueless."

"Good filet with a new flavor, but hubby ordered the risotto and the rice was under cooked. He sent it back and had the same result. The food is at a price point that you expect perfection the first time. As a whole, we were not that impressed with the experience."

"Table of 9, 7 appetizers served and the remaining 2 later; 6 entrees served and the remaining 3 significantly later - the first 6 dinners were cold by the time the last 3 arrived. Waiter could not match order to guest."

"We celebrated a special event at La Riviera and all 8 family members complimented me on this find. The food was good and the ambiance was perfect for a celebration. I found the service to be very personal, the server was attentive and made us feel like the only table she had. Although the selection on the menu was not huge, there was something for everyone. Almost everyone at our table tried something new and enjoyed what they got. This is a great location for a quick romantic get away or a special family celebration."

"Odd restaurant. The only bread was either an odd form of pita or what appeared to be store bought rolls, sliced into thirds. The decor is remarkable and haphazard. The food was mostly good."

"Few people there but service was still not up to expectations. They were out of bread and refills on our drinks were slow in coming. Food was excellent but the experience was not what we expected."

"Our dinner was tasty and pleasant, and the service was attentive without being at all intrusive. There were many interesting entree choices, as well as salads and appetizers. They were perfectly willing to split the lovely gorgonzola/pear salad, presenting it very attractively on two plates. We had the stuffed planked salmon and the pave pork loin; the portions of the main courses were reasonable, neither pretentiously small nor overwhelmingly large, and they were well equipped with vegetable sides. All was expertly cooked and presented, though the pork was inexplicably tough. We had looked forward to trying an Argentine Malbec, knowing that it is a rare varietal but -- alas! -- they were all out of it. Overall, a nice treat!"

"We had an absolutely unforgettable dinner at La Riviera!! The service was top notch and they made sure we had everything we wanted and more. Food and presentation was amazing! I got the steak house filet while my husband got the duck and both were delectable! Very impressive wine list and we were excited when we discovered they had our favorite Argentine Malbec. For dessert, I got the chocolate espresso cake and he got the tres leches. I would recommend everything because it was all perfect. We will be coming back!!"

"A nice small restaurant. The food was good and nicely arranged on the plate. We had a nice glass of wine from their wine list. The problem we had was with the waiter. He gave us our salads, but after an hour brought our meal ticket without us eating the main course. He didn't check on us for an hour. He apologized and finally brought us our food...and then the meal ticket again. Not sure what happened, but the food was good once we got it. It wasn't a real problem that our meal was delayed since we were in no hurry and enjoying our wine. It was just odd that he thought we had eaten when he had never brought our food."

"The food was very good. The portions are not what I would call large but considering the type of restaurant and the quality of the food you were given good serving size for the price."

"With a name like La Riviera, I expected a French styled menu. This is a nice restaurant, but it does not offer any French traditional items on the menu."

"The food is La Riviera's strong suit. Located in a strip center, the decor is sparce and contains fixtures last seen in the 80s. The wood trim around the doors does not match the bar. Overall, the space feels like it was hastily decorated with whatever could be found on sale. The service was OK, though not on par with the quality of the food. This likely has more to do with the pool of talent since this is a college town so students dominate the waitstaff workforce."

"At the start of the night we were sat right next to the door. I found this to be very uncfortable so I asked to change tables implying that if made reservations I expect to be in the restaurant not the lobby. The waitress moved us inside the restaurant and the rest of the night could not have been better. We had delicious food with small portions and a wonderful waitstaff. Loved the night we stayed for 3 hours we didn't want to leave."

"This is an excellent restaurant but he waiter was not very knowledgeable. He did not know the Valentine Special and we had to go to the hostess and ask for the manager before we got our special. But that said, we enjoyed the food and evening."

"Salad and Dessert was great but entrees didnt meet the mark. Pork was just a little dry and potatoes were very bland. Prices match the quality though. Service was also very slow for how uncrowded it was, but ambiance was nice and rest of meal made up for the downfalls"
