"I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant since I haven't had good creole food since I lived in New Orleans more than 10 years ago. So I really wanted to try it out. But I was sadly disappointed, the food was extremely salty, the beignets were a little dense and the bread pudding wasn't that great. Probably won't go back :("

"My husband and i ordered the tasting menu (from groupon). Every single course was Delicious. I couldn't believe it. Service there is excellent. We tipped 30%, in fact.
The only complaint i have is that it was quite loud. There was a live band and we had to shout the entire time. My husband and i are both musicians though, so we enjoyed the music.... maybe shouldn've been a volume 5 though in such close quarters.
We will definitely go back. I'm excited to try other things we didn't get to sample last night."

"We arrived for our reservation 10 minutes early and immediately noticed that they were short staffed. We waited for 15 minutes and two groups with no reservations were seated before us, so we left. This was one of the worst experiences I have had at a restaurant."

"I made reservations & requested confirmation that they were handicap accessible. Took approx. 50 mins to be seated. The most disturbing part of the evening was that when I mentioned that I did not see any floor tables, she led me to the stairs & said "do you think she can get up these 3 stairs?" Let’s see... no! Next suggestion was to go outside & come through kitchen & up the ramp to the elevated seating. I was ready to walk out at this point, but my family was not. I had to track down our waitress for menus. The chicken dish on the menu that was the worst! The tilapia was just ok and our other selections were just as unmemorable. The best thing was my martini. I dine out often & this was the worst experience in my entire 13 yrs in IL."

"Was driving around on a Saturday night at the last minute trying to find a restaurant in the Oak Brook/Lombard area. This was the only place that didn't have a wait. Guess why? The food is sub par at best. If you're looking for good New Orleans cuisine, this isn't it!"

"We had not heard of the French Quarter, and gave it a try on a whim when we unexpectedly had a free night. We read some of the reviews about the service not being up to par but we had no reason at all to be concerned as everyone: the host, the server, and the manager were all extremely friendly and efficient and very knowledgeable about the food, the wine list, and even the beers on the menu. Although the menu was not extensive, there were plenty of good options for us. Everything we had was delicious and the portions were larger than we expected. I was really looking forward to the deserts which looked great, but we were too full to order one. The fried, green tomatoes and gumbo, especially were delicious. We will definitely return soon."

"I'm so glad I viewed the negative Yelp reviews afterwards, not before. We were promptly seated at this festive-designed restaurant. The wine selection by glass was good and my specialty drink, a martini with pepper vodka and sour mix was fantastic! We. Had two apps, the grilled and raw oysters, both of which were excellent. My wife ordered rib tips which smelled a little better than they tasted. I had the crawfish étouffée, as a good standard assessment of sorts, and the roux was fantastic and the dish was everything I'd hoped it would be.
The service was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. We eat out very often and this visit, our first here, really stood out."

"The food was great, tried a couple apps and had two dinners. Food has bold flavors and a unique selection. Drink menu was good as well. Service was average, it was a slow night and it took way too long to get our drinks out to us and the waitress tried to take our order by memory and inevitably forgot a few things. The night we went (a Friday) was pretty quiet, apparently they have live bands and karaoke on some nights but it was pretty mellow/quiet for our visit. I would go back again because the food was so good."

"This place was awful! When your server comes to your table and tells you what they're out of before recommending a dish, I guess that you can't expect a good experience. And when you order and the server comes back to tell you that they're out of that also, just leave. It was my birthday, so we decided to make the best of it. Should have left and went to Popeyes, because their cajun food is better! I ordered the chicken, which they note on the menu that it takes about 20 minutes but is worth the wait. Its not. My wife enjoyed her tilapia, but the best part of mine was the corn! Chicken was flavorless! And when you're out of main course items at 8pm, maybe you should fire whoever does your ordering. Waste of time"

"We went on a Friday evening for dinner. There were a few other people in the restaurant and nobody in the bar. The service was actually very good. The food was okay, just not memorable. What was really annoying was the endless New Orleans-style music that was playing way too loudly. I couldn't wait to get out of there. Also, the place was boiling hot--they said their thermostats were "sensitive"."

"Came to listen and dance to Downtown Charlie Brown. Unfortunately there was no dance floor and only three couples including me. Very disappointing. When that band plays at Pete Miller's in Wheeling the restaurant is packed, people are dancing and having a good time. After I left French Quarter I went to McGovern's in Glenview and the place was crowded, people dancing, drinking and having fun. So, the problem isn't spring break or Holy Week.
Food was very good."

"Prior to reserving at this restaurant we saw several negative reviews so we were hesitant, but I am so glad we ignored them. This restaurant was wonderful. We ordered the Chef's 5 course dinner and had no idea of what we would be served but the selection was delightful, the service attentive without being intrusive, the food well seasoned and very fresh tasting. Each course was served not only fresh and hot, but attractively arranged and garnished. Several of our party have been to New Orleans and the flavor and quality of the dishes we were served were in keeping with that city's reputation as one of the great dining destinations of America. I give this restaurant, it's chef, wait staff and bartender 5 stars"

"It was very disappointing. There were four of us there for drinks and dinner. The martinis in the bar were not good. In fact, the bartender did take one back and remake it. It still was not very good. At dinner, two guests were served their appetizer (soup) and the other two waited until their dinner arrived to be served their salads. One of the salads went back to the kitchen. We were not charged for that salad. The wait staff did apologize saying it was her fault the salads were served so late. The food quality and taste was just OK. Maybe, I would go back for the music and dessert. The band was great!!!"

"It was our first visit to this restaurant and was an expensive mistake - a party of 2, we spent $150 - each had one cocktail, one glass of wine, an appetizer and entre. There seemed to be only one server for the entire restaurant, no visible management. From the time we sat down until the entre was actually served it was over 1.5 hours. All of the tables around us were starting to be uncomfortable as well with the slow service, lack of attention and total mismanagement. The drinks were too sweet. They forgot the dressing on my salad and the entres were average. I don't think they will make it unless they get their act together and improve on every aspect of what a restaurant should be. I won't return to this restaurant."

"Very slow service. Noticed a bunch of tables sitting around a long time waiting for food. One person at our table specifically asked for her meal to be prepared without the spice rub it normally came with, and was assured by both the server and her manager that this was acceptable. When meal came out it had the rub on it. That was not a difficult request for the kitchen. Meal was eventually comped, and she was even given an additional one to take home, but after such a long wait it really deflated her entire experience there as a new diner. The small band was actually the best part of the evening. Great music and not too loud. Unfortunately, the band won't carry the poor service. This will be a one and done location for my group"

"We came on a groupon voucher for a tasting menu. Each course was delicious, and, we got more courses than we expected. Our server, Rochelle, was very nice and carefully explained each dish. We ended up taking home two of the courses and most of both desserts. We were that full. Had some for dinner last night and for dinner tonight. Just as good the second time around. We thought it was a terrific value and have already talked about the friends we plan to recommend it to, and about the possibility of coming back with a group. We also thoroughly enjoyed Downtown Charlie Brown and his band. Great people playing great music."

"SIXTY MINUTES PASSED and the HOSTESS did a quick "how is everything" check when I sort of unloaded on her. I know I raised my voice, but I kept a decent lid on it. I let her know that it had been a full 60 minutes since we walked in the restaurant and we had not seen a BITE of food yet. Not one cracker, appetizer, NOTHING. She said she was sorry, and asked what we ordered to eat. In less than 10 minutes, we had everything on our table. The food was just ok. He said the Jambalaya was good, and the ribs were just alright. The parish chicken was ok, but nothing to remember or miss. Our waitress did not CARE about us, our experience, or if we ever came back. THE BILL WAS $85 DOLLARS FOR SOME RICE, CHICKEN AND RIBS."

"I wanted to love this restaurant. I LOVE the city and food of New Orleans. The food at French Quarter New Oleans Kitchen was marginal at best and a little overpriced. The shrimp appetizer was 3 large shrimp in w/2 stale toast points for $12. The bbq sauce it came with was flavorful but so thin it sat at the bottom of the bowl & wasn't on the shrimp at all. Fried Green tomatoes appetizer was tastey. They were out of muffulata bruschetta which we wanted to try. Gumbo was bland need salt or something, Jambalaya was slightly better but nothing special. Biscuits were super salty. There are too many other good restaurants in that area to be this marginal & pricey. I would find it hard to believe this restaurant will still be in business in 6 mos."

"We plan on bringing our sister and her husband here - the food is that special! We would not bring our grandchildren here because all they eat is icecream and cake.
We love using technology to researve a table - painless - and plan on coming back (although a bit out of the way - we live in Wheaton) to sample more of your goodies!"

"While the restaurant has a great opportunity to be a really charming place, I was freezing (and I rarely get cold). It was Valentine's Day and the server was a little too chatty and provided slow service. We often had to remind her to bring something to the table. The food was ok - I was expecting a more expansive menu with more flavor. My husband and I agreed that it would be a great place to grab a drink and appetizers."

"We had been meaning to try this place for more than a year. We kept balking at the bad reviews. I don't know where those "bad Review" people ate but it couldn't have been at the French Quarter in Lombard. Our service was perfect and the food was spectacular."

"Food was OK, but way overpriced for portions. Jambalaya was the best, but they only sserve as an appetizer. Service was terrible due to an unorganized waitress who did not take full advantage of her additional wait staff/bus staff. She only did one thing at a time, and although they knowledgeable about the menu, she wasn't that good. Took over 20 minutes just to ask for check, and even more time after that to execute request."
