In honor of the “Rebirth” of New Orleans, and the re- emergence of the celebration of the finest food on the face of the earth that can be tasted right here in our city, we have reopened this location and have dedicated ourselves to this mission.
We are purposed to restoring and preserving the culinary arts that have distinguished our city and made it famous. "Dined on a Sat. for brunch. Food was very good, service outstanding, which is a rarity these days in any restaurant in any city, ambiance perfect. We had not been to this spot since it was Christian's many, many years ago. We are looking forward to giving it a try for dinner."

"Our group of 8 visiting NOLA from Boston loved Redemption. The renovated church is a wonderful space and provides a noise level that accommodates conversation (unlike so many other New Orleans restaurants). Interesting treatments of classic dishes come from the kitchen. Don't miss the smoked crab or the mascarpone filled crepe. Service was exceptionally efficient and Brian knew the menu very well. It was a charming ride from the Quarter on the Canal Street trolley and a short block's walk to the restaurant from there. Highly recommended!!"

"The food was very good, but I wish they would give you a little more. I felt unsatisfied after my entree and it was so good that I really wanted more. All but one entree was like that. Also, they are a little skimpy with the sauces which is where some of the great flavors are. Service was wonderful. Loved the old church. Overall we had a great experience."

"Before Redemption, it was called Christian's. Redemption has taken the staples of New Orleans food (shrimp, gumbo, etc.) to an enhanced level of taste. It was a nice surprise, especially since it was for Mother's Day. Can't go wrong anytime at Redemption."

"I've been to Redemption three times during the past year, and the experience has been excellent. It's in an old church, which creates a very nice ambience. Last year we took our annual out-of-town Jazz Fest guests, and when they returned this year, Redemption is all they talked about."

"New Orleans classics presented in style. Take soft shell crab and smoke it, then fry it perfectly and drizzle tasty sauce on it. Wonderful. Wait staff attentive and helpful. The former church creates a different setting and high ceilings eliminate noise. Look forward to returning."

"I went with fine dining pros from Miami and we all loved the food. Unusual twists on some dishes that otherwise would have been good but not unusual. Dishes are new creations like not seen on any previous menu.
I have NEVER had such good and friendly service. Not just our server, but the bartender and even the manager got involved. It was Jazz Fest weekend and no cabs were available but not to worry - the manager and the bartender jumped in to take my extra friends (that didn't fit in my car) back down to the Quarter!! In all my years of fine dining all over the world I have never had such service and so much fun with the staff!"

"Overall the food was good. I loved the Church atmosphere! I am always suspicious when I encounter a brown gravy on my food, in this case duck, that doesn't have some enhanced taste. The Brits sell brown gravy in a can - just add water. The duck had the same gravy. But we had been to R'Evolution and Bayona's in the same week - so maybe not fair to compare."

"A year ago, Redemption was packed on a Friday night with a "mature" discerning crowd. The vast space benefited from the large population of diners. This time, the restaurant was nearly empty, lending a little bit of a despairing tone to the dining event. Having said that, everything else about Redemption was lovely and rewarding: the room is very pleasant, near-perfect lighting and sound level; the service was impeccable without being over-bearing or pretentious in any way; all the dishes were delicious; the wine list was well-balanced and a good wine was affordable. The only kitchen-related negative is that the appetizers and the entrees came out at uneven temps. A divine soup du jour came out scalding; a stuffed portobello, cold."

"I made reservations for 12:30 for my 84-yr-old aunt's birthday lunch. I was a bit concerned when we arrived as we were the only patrons. Shortly others arrived and we felt more comfortable, as we don't like being the center of attention.

"My husband and I were first time visitors. We had a nice enough evening but a few "misses" kept it from being a great. First, the ambience is lovely and the live music was delightful. The starters were delicious and well served. My entree was delivered, and we waited. It was approx 4 minutes before his was served (he says 5). When I finally tasted my food, it was delicious but not warm; basically room temperature. It was several more minutes before we were able to flag down the host to ask for the dish to be reheated. It was warm enough but would have been better served hot. It was so close to being a great experience and the service "misses" were amateurish, but with so many good NOLA choices, it's unlikely we'll return"

"This was our first time back since it changed from Christians. It was pricey for Valentines Day, but that was to be expected. The preset Vaentines dinner menu has a nice selection. It was a very experience that brought back fond memories. We will go back again to try it out on a regular night."
