"My first time there along with 3 friends and waiter was super-polite, not overly attentive, just right and was sensitive to our endless chattering! Food was scrumptious! Totally recommend the tomato bisque with grilled cheese croutons! Can't wait to go again!"

"We booked our reservation for Nix's Mate to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. Our reservation was for 9pm. Parking was very difficult to find. Once we got to the restaurant we were shown to one of three tables set for meals and in the same room as a very noisy graduation party. We asked to be moved to a quieter table and the hostess couldn't even hear our request over the noise. We interperated this as indifference, but she did go to get the manager who told us that it was only going to get louder in the next hour. He offered no solution and he truly seemed indifferent about whether we dined there or not. We left and fortunately found a much quieter and more accomodating restaurant across the street. Not what I expected!"

"The food was honestly delicious, it's too bad the service was HORRENDOUS. Brunch ended up taking upwards of 2.5 hours... Took forever for a waitress to come to our table, they MOVED us from our original table, food took ages to come out, waitress spilled drink all over one of us and nothing was done about it... The list goes on. Really, really terrible service."

"I have eaten at Nix's Mate once before as part of a group, and it was quite good. On this visit, I ordered the shepard's pie and it was terrible. It consisted of potatoes and cheese on top, with a few kernals of corn tossed in. If there was meat, you could have fooled me!"

"My first time here with a colleague. The calamari was good but standard fare. The fish tacos were very good. The fish was fresh and crispy, the guacamole sour cream was tasty and not overpowering, and the soft tortillas were surprisingly fresh. Nix's Mate was listed on the Restaurant Week website along with their lunch menu. When we arrived we were told by the manager that there was a mistake but that the chef could offer us a restaurant week prix fixe meal for the dinner price of $30.13. That was more than we wanted to spend for lunch but we didn't have time so we stayed. I was disappointed that the manager didn't honor the restaurant week menu and instead offered an upsell."

"They seated us, and then we did not have a waitor for 20 mins after that. We felt that no one knew we were there, and we were pushed to the back in the corner. The bar life after dinner was amazing, but i would not go back for dinner. I like to go there with friends becuase we have a good time at night, so i thought going there for dinner would be a good idea, but we were not impressed unfortunetly."

"Better than your average hotel restaurant, Nix's Mate tries for something different, and that's appreciated. The menu is rather meat heavy, and the mixed drink menu is shy of variety and depth. But it was enjoyable. However, it was pretty noisy by the time we arrived (early), and it was excruciatingly loud when we left. WHAT EVER IS THE POINT?"

"I celebrated my birthday at Nix's Mate. I had a reservation for 11 people, and they gave us our own room. It was nicely decorated and set up. The hostess and the waiter were very attentive and very accomodating. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and all of them were delicious, especially the mac and cheese bites with bacon dip and the chicken and waffles. Everyone was pleased with their meal and desserts. The drinks were very good. I will definitely be coming back and recommend this place."
