"Joe's has the best stone crab- the medium crab claws were to die for and the mustard sauce it comes with positively ADDICTING. I shared the 16oz rib-eye and the chilean sea bass and both were succulent, juicy, and mouth-wateringly delicious. Also, I had requested a back booth via Open Table, and Joe's delivered on that request. The service was immpecable and our server, knowing we were new to the restaurant, gave us a complimentary key lime pie to share. Overall an incredible night of great food, great company, and great ambiance. I HIGHLY recommend Joe's!"

"We had a great meal and great service. Andy knows his business. Food was really good and you can dine there for reasonable money as long as you don't go overboard on wine and market price lobster and crabs. Overall fair price for great food and service. A bit over crowded though"

"I've been to the Miami restaurant many times so knew something about the restaurant.( never been to the Chicago joes, though) Usually order stone crabs but the season was ending and ordered halibut as well. The halibut was sensational-- maybe the best I ever had. The stone crabs were a little watery but they only had colossals, which are sometimes watery even in season. The grilled tomatoes and sautéed spinach were, as usual, excellent."

"We had a private booth in a back corner and noise was never an issue. Our server tried to upsell us to the most expensive menu options. We started with the ahi tuna tartare. It came diced. It was by far the least interesting dish we were served. I chose the stone crab for my entree and was thrilled. Succulent and delicious. My husband had the Chilean Sea Bass with Miso glaze and bok choy and said he had never had better! Lyonaise potatoes and grilled asparagus were plentiful portions which were perfectly cooked. Our friends finished their meal with a slice of key lime pie and because it was their first visit and that's Joe's signature dessert, it was on the house.

A delightful evening with excellent seafood! Joe's is the place!"

"This was our third time dining at Joe's. The 1st time two years ago was great. Last December was bad for food quality and service. This time was bad as well. The petite filet was just average, tableside slaw was very good, my wife's crab cakes were good as well.Our server was terrible. I had to explain what a loaded baked potato meant.When it came it was just warm, The american/cheddar cheese was solid as a rock as was the potato.I sent it back to the microwave and it came back warmer but still hard. While my wife and I were drinking wine, our server paid far more attention to a table of 6 drinking water. Big difference in our check vs theirs thus the tip reflected the poor service. 2 out of three bad? No more."

"Joe's offers outstanding food in an elegant setting, with tuxedoed waiters. Yet, the service is not snooty, but friendly and brisk. The menu includes a varied pricing of entrees, with Stone Crab Claws at the top of the higher-priced items. Lunch is a good time to visit as several entrees are offered with sides and even dessert for a great price. I chose bone-in grilled halibut that was fresh and tasty at an affordable price.
My waiter was over-the-top friendly, in a good way, even spending much time just chatting with me as I dined alone. After my delicious meal, he even brought me a complimentary piece of super key lime pie.
All in all, Joe's knows how to please a diner with great service and food."

"Once I am inside the dining area the experience at Joe's is outstanding in all aspects. I have always however found the host/hostess to be stressed and not in anyway welcoming. "I loved the place, very near to the "magnificent mile" Michigan Avenue. You enter in a real bar, previous to the sober, large, nice decorated and high ceiling dining room. Food was excellent, don't miss the stone crabs, but every dish proposed is worth trying it.

"We've been here before and came back because we loved it so much the last time. We were again very happy with everything. We had a great waiter and our food was wonderful. We especially liked the dover sole with a brown butter sauce that was to die for. The mashed potatoes are awesome. We would come back here again and again."

"While the steak was very good, there are alot of steakhouses in Chicago which doesn't realy make it stand out. But thir seafood is a must. Anything in the menu that is seafood is delicious. Especially the stone crabs, they are a MUST!"

"Joe's is a very good restaurant, but this time, the food was not as good as it usually is. usually the steaks here are outstanding, but this time, my ribeye was only good. The taste wasn't as good as previous times; maybe it was because I am used to greatness here. Definitely a good restaurant, but it wasn't excellent like it has been in the past."

"I have visited the Miami location and the Chicago location equals and in some cases, exceeds the original.

The server was wonderful and very informative. Never hovering, never rushing, just great friendly service.

The food is amazing and fresh, well prepared and simple. Don't hide the flavor of such fresh seafood with sauces and add-ons. We enjoyed the stone crabs and if you enjoy it, try the Crab Bisque. It is amazing."

"This is by far one of my favorite restaurants! I have been here many times and even to the Miami location and have never left unsatisfied! The steaks are melt in your mouth good. I also had the coconut creme pie which was also good. I would highly reccomend this restaurant. We went there with our 8 month old son and they were very accomodating with high chairs and it was kid friendly! We will be going back again."

"I took my husband to Joe's for his birthday - he ordered the aged ribeye and I ordered the New York strip steak. They were perfectly cooked to order, extremely juicy, seasoned well, and still hot when they arrived at the table. The sides and appetizers were amazing - grilled asparagus, Jennie's potatoes (highly recommended), a cup of crab bisque and lump crab cake. Our server was attentive with drinks and suggestions, but still left us alone enough to eat in peace without being bothered every 5 minutes.

Side note - this place warrants more than casual dress. Some patrons strolled in with jeans and a t-shirt, while the servers are dressed in formal black uniform. Your server shouldn't be dressed better than you, so wear something nice!"

"I ordered surf and turf. The steak was cooked perfectly as I'd asked for it to be. The lobster was well presented and easy to extract from the shell. The service was very attentive and we actually changed the number or people in our reservation and the restaurant was very accommodating. The knowledge of the wines was impressive and good suggestions were made on the type of wine we liked which would also compliment the food. Would also recommend the pudding!"

"This is a great place for any occasion. They have fantastic fish, and steaks, the wine list has a super selection for all palettes and desserts should be ordered even if you are full. The service is second to none. Loved our server. Service is not stiff and our guy was so helpful. We were treated like superstars. Thanks again for a wonderful meal!"

"While the service we got was excellent the food was just average. I ordered the salmon and my wife ordered the Crab Claws. The salmon piece was small and undercooked. According to the chef - "that is the way this fish is served". I sent it back and it returned more cooked but still underdone. My wife enjoyed her Crab Claws. We ordered desert - Chocolate Pie and Key Lime pie. Both were outstanding!"
