"Very good food. It's one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to in the city. My only complaint is that it would be nice if they provided chips and salsa at no cost. I definitely recommend making a reservation or going off hours as there are only about 10 tables in the entire restaurant."

"This was the first time we visited Chilapan because we are new to the neighborhood. We will be back many, many times. The food was absolutely incredible and our server was great. I can't wait to go back!"

"The food portions were meager and overprice, and they did not return our unfinished bottle of tequila.
They also had a ridiculous surcharge for a friend that just wanted to sit, on a Tuesday when the restaurant was not full."

"The first time I visited Chilapan, I added it to my "top 5 favorite Chicago restaurants" list. The food was amazing, the service great and the ambiance cozy. I recommended it to many friends and family. My husband and I frequently referred to it as the best Mexican food that we had ever had.
However, I was really bummed this visit. Did the prices go up? My entree didn't knock my socks off. We felt rushed and our server seemed always in a hurry. My hunch is that this little gem's popularity has gotten the best of it?
The food was still good- don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't what I remembered! I will still go back and try again:)"
