"Good selection of meat & seafood on the "new" menu. My companion's $58 ribeye steak came out medium rare when he ordered medium. His plate looked very bland, no color except for these grayish mushrooms. We enjoyed a complimentary dessert to compensate, which was an unexpected touch. I thoroughly enjoyed my mahi mahi with tropical salsa & wilted spinach - colorful, balanced & the fish was perfect. The table we were sat at was along a corridor (so not very private or romantic). We were also near a service station where one of the staff felt the need to periodically throw bottles (? wine) into a receptacle. This was not only startling, but very annoying and disruptive to dinner guests. I felt bad for the family sitting closest to it!"

"We travel to Hawaii 4 times a year, the last visit was for 8 nights at the Waikolla Village. We ate at KPC four times that week.
On the fourth visit we were seated by the manager who tried to sit us at a table in the corner when there were at least 8 open tables in front with a great view of the ocean and sunset, when we requested to sit at one of those tables she informed us that those were for ELITE reservations and cost $25.00 per person. If we wanted to sit there it would cost us $50.00! When we asked to speak to her boss about this fee one of the front tables opened up and we were allowed to sit up front at no extra cost.
Food was great, but table issue marred the excitement of the night."

"This is one of the best restaurants I have experienced in HawIi. The Ono was maybe the best fish I've ever had. Make sure to ask about the special because we would have missed it otherwise. Also the strawberry shortcake was fabulous."

"The night was a little chilly, so we sat just inside the patio area. It was the best of both worlds, quiet and intimate inside while maintaining the views and outdoor feel. The oysters were a great start, and ended up being the highlight of the meal. Both of our dishes had fillet on them. While the fillets were cooked to temperature, the level of char was intense. So much so, that it overshadowed the other flavors on the plate. The lobster tail did stand, however. Dessert was average, and the service opened up and improved as did the wine."

"This restaurant was recommended, we were staying at a condo nearby. We had oysters (very fresh) and then splurged by ordering 2 pounds of lobster each ($82) just for the entree. They honestly did not taste all that great, and there really were no sides. The dessert was sort of by-the-numbers. Overall not a restaurant that would survive long in NY or SF. But a great location, right on the ocean."

"KPC has the best ambiance of any restauant I have ever dined at. An outdoor oceanside seat at sunset is a spectacular place to dine. It is quite expensive but worth it for the ambience. I have had great meals there but the last one was only fair. The bread was very good but the hummus dip it came with tasted moldy. The fish special was nicely presented but overly fishy. My wife is gluten intolerant and they did a nice job f accomodating her. I did have an excellent pumpkin bisque soup and the tomato salad was also good. One salad would easily feed two people. I would rate it a 3 but the ambiance brings it up to a 4."

"We dined at the restaurant twice in five days. The first time was at the bar. It took a while to get the attention of our server but then she did an outstanding job describing drink and food options. It was my husband's birthday and he ordered a beautiful steak. I ordered the tomato salad which was a beautiful tower of tomatoes, onions and blue cheese! Both were wonderful. In fact, I ordered the same thing a few nights later. Wonderful menu, great service and a view that can't be beat!"

"Location is awesome, tables along water are the best! Beautiful sunsets. Service is excellent. Resort prices for good but not great food. However I will rave about the banana tapioca, the best thing we ate at dinner. Mahi Mahi with mango salsa was good but no better than any other place I've had it on the island. Drinks are expensive and barely have any alcohol, as if you're drinking a non-alcoholic drink so I kept it to one. We ate here about 7 years ago and food was better then so for the price you're paying for the service level and the location. 1 salad, two meals,1 beer, 1 martini,1 shared dessert, $160 for 2."

"The service and food were both very good. I requested an ocean side table (at the edge with no people between us and the view) and was instead was sat on the patio area which had a sidewalk between us and the view. I asked twice and was basicly ignored as we were sat even though there were three tables open. Bottom line was, the ambiance went out the window with people of all sizes and shapes setting behind as jumping out to take pictures of the view. It really distracted from the view and from being able to relax and enjoy. We actually had to watch our elbows on our chairs because of all the traffic. The table we sat at should come with a warning about traffic and mo. Needless to say, that was frustrating enough were we eat and left"

If you want one of the oceanfront

"If you want one of the oceanfront tables for 2 in the front, you can guarantee seating with $50 per couple, which also gets you an appetizer and glass of champagne. It's well worth it. The food is delicious, but the view is the main reason you need to eat at kpc. The service was a bit off. We had to wait several minutes before we could place a drink order, and entree was served the minute we finished our appetizer and before we had finished our cocktails or ordered wine for dinner. But Moonfish special was delicious, and we were allowed to linger after dessert as we savored our wine."

"We where very happy to sit even inside (we had planed outside, but it was raining) and the Service, Food where exzellent.
Most important was the low noiselevell, so we could talk to each other and not shout!! The Hawaiian Music in the background was just right. As we had a friend with hearing problems, he liked it so much, that he felt never disturbed, Roys, Sam Choys, Merimen are too noisy - and I cannot unterstand why these Restaurants are visited. In Germany the majority of Restaurants are so much quieter and invest more in the architectual design of the rooms. Your restaurant is a perfect place to visit and enjoy the Drinks, Food and Scenic.
We have recomended your Restaurant to all our friends and we will definately come back."

"Really anticipated an incredible dining experience based upon reviews. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The setting was beautiful. However the food was largely extremely disappointing. The special was awful - extremely dry probably from sitting overlong yunder the warmer. It was not touched for 10-15 minutes and our waiter failed to notice. The entree was removed from our tab and free dessert were given but, by that time, we had reached the point of complete frustration. I really wanted to have the whole meal given gratis given the neglect.
Definitely NOT up to the restaurant reviews from Open Table."

"Excellent food and service as always. The only thing that didn't allow me to rate this 'excellent' overall was that it was a bit overcast with chance of rain so they weren't serving on the lanai. They did place at an open window however as close to outside as possible. An annual favourite for us and we'll continue to return."

"We have been to the KPC many times. 5 years ago, they had coconut shrimp on the menu. Now they just have it for the kids meal. We asked about it and they said they could make it for us. They did but it was not the same. As a matter of fact, it was bad. And they charged us $34 for it. It had 3 pieces of shrimp on it and the sauce was terrible. The meals are not as good as they used to be and you pay a lot for it. They even charge another $25 a couple if you want to sit outside on the first row."

"A great restaurant with an incredible location on the western oceanfront, which provides for a beautiful sunset. A nice diverse menu with a lean towards fresh seafood, and a quality performance.
Prices are actually reasonable for the quality and resort location - a good option if not staying at resort."

"This was our first time at KPC and we were so pleased and impressed with the local foods available, the quality of all the food and the service. We sat at a table at outside right next to the sea, it was lovely. The service was very good. I would recommend the fabulous coconut creme brulee for dessert, it tasted even better than it looked and was glorious! Thank you for making our anniversary extra special."
