Cafe Un Deux Trois has been located in the heart of Times Square since 1977. We opened when the neighborhood was still very rough , and quickly became THE brasserie to stop for dinner and drinks before heading off to Studio 54 and Xenon to dance the night away. We were and still are frequented by American and European theater and film actors, as well as politicians, directors, local New Yorkers and tourists from around the world. You will find many a Broadway cast and crew member hanging out after the show on any given night.
We recently had a facelift featuring enormous windows and a new color scheme. The food while still classic bistro fare has expanded to include a variety of sandwiches, hamburgers and an extensive breakfast. We have also added a selection of savory and sweet crepes to our dining choices.
"The entrees were pretty good. Lamb shank was large with tender meat but relatively bland. Mussels were cold and bland. Spinach side was inedible and we didn't have to pay for it Cream for coffee was sour but was replaced without hassle. Lentil and spinach soup was excellent. They sang a very loud and festive happy birthday for my 11-year-old daughter. I'm sure there must be better restaurants with more reliably good food, but you may have to walk father."

"Un Deux Trois is truly one of the great Theatre District restaurants. From the time you enter, you are greeted heartily and the service, food and general feeling are one of just relaxation and happy experience. They put a new name on hospitality. Top notch."

"Poor service marred what was an otherwise good dining experience. I attentive waitress who failed in even the most basic tasks. As a result, I would not recommend this restaurant."

"This restaurant had accepted a busload of tourists at 5:15 PM. They seemingly gave away all the reserved tables and tried to cram people in at the bar. The noise level was deafening and people were milling around everywhere. A dreadful experience!"

"We enjoyed Un Deux Trois very much. I had the chicken cordon bleu and it was delicious. The restaurant is friendly, comfortable and accessible. We had well paced service. We were not rushed, and yet made our theater time easily."

"Decided to try a French restaurant as I'm not a big fan. Food was very flavorful but presentation was lacking. Our server was friendly but continued to hang out at the bar flirting with the bartender hostess. Prices were reasonable and the prix fix was a good deal."

"My aunt and uncle used to take me there whenever they were in the city. I needed a place that I knew could get us out in time to make a show so this came to mind. The reviews online were mixed but I had fond memories so I decided to try it. The food and the service was excellent. It was a great bistro with a great menu."

"Had post theater dinner including kids (8 and 4). Everyone enjoyed the dinner! Casual but nice. A little loud in a good way so we didn't worry about our kids' volume. Great food. Great prix fix until midnight."

"Good place for a decent dinner before the theater... not exceptional, but good... However, if you're a fan of Proferteroles, make sure you save room.. these are the best around!"

"We selected the restaurant as it was close to the theatre we were going to and it had several positive reviews which I noticed on line. We didn't realize it was such a huge restaurant and generally would not choose this type of venue again, though we adore French bistro food. We ordered the prix fixe menu which I would not suggest doing if you are in any kind of a rush as service was quite slow ...the appetizer and desert were quite tasty ; however, the main entree was palty, cold and not of the highest caliber. In all, we have found better choices in the theatre area and doubt that we would return."

"Cafe Un Deux Trois is the kind of place that can become habit-forming. Excellent food comes in plentiful amounts, served by friendly, engaged servers in a comfortable and convivial atmosphere. The Cafe will be crowded pre-theater, and with good reason, but the energy is upbeat and cheerful. This will become a place I visit often but I don't ever expect it to become routine. I recommend it highly!"

"I enjoyed a tasty pre theatre lunch at Cafe Un Deux Trois. The servers were friendly and the service prompt. It is a vibrant scene and the bistro decor is charming. My salmon burger was delicious . It is a perfect spot for a light lunch before taking in a show."

"Cafe 123 is my go-to choice pre-theatre. It's eclectic menu doesn't change, but always offers the right thing, regardless of my mood. Especially worthy: escargot, salmon, roast chicken, mussels, steak frites, and tartare. Share the profiteroles."

"The food was ok but not great. The specialty mussels were a disappointment. The biggest problem is the noise level. You have to literally scream at each other across the table to engage in any dinner conversation."

"One of my "go-to" spots in the theater district was very disappointing. The food was, as always, fine. The service was just awful. The servers cleared the rest of the table before I had finished, one of my pet peeves to begin with. But the worst was the waiter standing at the table waiting for me to finish my last bite before grabbing the plate. I saw no reason to be so rude as there were plenty of empty tables."

"I remember this restaurant's heyday back in the '80s. It was an authentic Fresh brasserie but now it feels like a tourist trap. It's hard to make classic French food unappealing but they've succeeded. Proximity to Broadway theaters made me want to give it a 2nd chance but I won't give it another. There were 4 birthday groups on the Saturday night we ate there -- way too much singing by the wait staff. We were squeezed into a tiny table for 2 in corner by the back stairs although we'd reserved days in advance. There was barely room for our plates and the break basket. The waitress took forever to take a bar order and to deliver a glass of wine. The crepes were soggy and the little bit of salad served with them was wilted."

"We went with a friend who lives in Bulgaria most of the year, who said that French food is not easily available there. So she ordered classics--onion soup, quiche Lorraine, and chocolate mousse and was pleased. Husband and I, otoh, were not pleased with much except the pate de campagne, which was probably not housemade. Everything else was poor: lamb shanks & beans underseasoned and cooked to mush, watercress "cream" soup like thinned-out instant mashed potatoes colored greenish. We used to go the Un Deux Trois quite often, but we hadn't been in a number of years. The renovated room is still nice, service was good, but the food is a parody of what it used to be. Very disappointing."

"It was a busy Saturday night, pre-theater. The food was good BUT could our table, in the corner been any smaller? Service was erratic and hectic. My drink arrived after the main course arrived, we had to ask twice for water, etc. We will return, but not at such a busy time."

"This is often our go-to place for years for pre-theater dinner or brunch. Most recently for brunch. My cousin and I loved the quiche and Bloody Mary combo. My husband had the lobster bisque and tilapia lunch. We all enjoyed our meals, quite fortified to spend an afternoon seeing The Nance with Nathan Lane. Highly recommend both Cafe 123 and The Nance!"

"We had a reservation and we were seated right away.. Unfortunately after 10 minutes no one came to our table so I notified the hostess...and our waitress appeared almost Immediately after that. The menu has great choices...Brunch or Lunch and lots of options in between. The food was delicious and the meal was topped off perfectly with a steaming hot cappucino. I would definitely recommend this place and I will return again in the near future."

"My husband and I have better memories of Un Deux Trois, when we were 30-40 years younger. We hadn't been there in a long time and wanted to recapture "something". It wasn't our worst experience in recent times, but it just wasn't what it used to be. (though nothing is and neither are we.)"

"I have been going to Cafe Un Deux Trois for 30 years. Based on the La Coupole in Paris, it is a fun spot that is great for a pre-theatre meal or lunch in the Times Square area. It is also open late. It is like an old friend that you see periodically. You always wonder why you don't se them more often."
