La Coop offers French comfort food with a modern twist. Located inside the award-winning Green Building in Louisville's NuLu district, guests will be greeted with classic bistro fair paired with well chosen French wine list, European inspired cocktails and a nice selection of French/Belgian ales.
"Everything lived up to the great reviews. My friends and I went here for a girls night out. We ate outside and had an excellent experience. The pecan blue cheese ice cream salad was so good we ordered it twice. The cheese plate and lemon crepes were a wonderful way to end our meal. If you haven't had a chance to eat here don't delay you are in for a real treat."

"You get a feel for Paris at LaCoop. Food is fabulous. I had the scallops. The salmon special got good reviews. My husband raved about his salad and so did our friend. Fried green tomatoes delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommend."

"It was very much like being in a bistro in Paris! Food was authentic French fare and although a limited menu, there was something for everyone. Service was attentive without being pushy. Certainly worth returning to. Nice French wine list."

"A popular French bistro with parking next door. The staff served wine while we waited outside for our table. Reservations are recommended. The frisée salad with poached egg on top was very good, and the Coq Au Vin was fantastic! Service was excellent as well. A very enjoyable evening. Will return soon and recommend to others."

"We had a fantastic experience at La Coop! The Mussels, Pork Belly and Coq Au Vin were the highlights of the incredible spread the chef prepared for us. The chef at La Coop prepared traditional dishes in exciting and creative ways. Thank you for the meal of the year!"

"La Coop has been a favorite for my parents for many months, though often for lunch which they no longer serve. Our latest dinner was somewhat disappointing - somewhat bland vegetarian options left me unsatisfied, but the pistachio crème brûlée was top notch and we enjoyed delicious kir cocktails and one called The Lavender Room with St. Germain, gin, and grapefruit."

"the food and service was wonderful. We thought the tables were too close together, but it is a small space. An extra inch or two between tables would have been better."

"We enjoyed an incredibly relaxing evening as we started with the fresh and tasty crab cake appetizer, to the house salad topped with a great herbal vinaigrette dressing, then to the entrees which were over the top. My wife enjoyed the delicious steak frittes and my salmon with a mushroom and bone marrow reduction topped with a poached egg was fabulous. We will certainly return to our favorite French restaurant in the city!"

"Forth visit. Quality consistently good. Real frog food well prepared (I know, I lived in France for years). You must really look around in the wine list there are good and mediocre stuff. For those who like a light dry wine, the French white from the haute Savoie is very nice as an aperitif. They have a very good Gigondas but it is pricey. Their CDR (Cote du Rhone) is honest. The menu says its grape variety is a beaujolais which is wrong. The cdr's are Syrah or petit Syrah. If they have somehow found a cdr that is made from Beaujolais it certainly is not ordinary and it sure tastes like Syrah. Don't get me wrong, it is a great place otherwise I would not have returned 5 times since they opened. The salad with blue cheese ice cream, good."

"La Coop is becoming our favorite fine dining place in Louisville. The food is consistently good, and the chef comes up with interesting specials every time. The service is friendly and efficient. Some of the wines are past their prime (like Le Petit Vin D'Avril) and I recommend it either went on sale or got removed from the list. The dessert menu hasn't changed in a while, and although we are frequent "flyers", we never order deserts. I'd love to have some eclaires, profiteroles, or choux à la crème. Just suggestions. Overall, we enjoy La Coop, it's on our list of favorites, and we will be back."

"I love the food no complains. The cheese tray is my favoriate. My husband had the Soup of the day. I think a red pepper. Said the best soup he's had. We made a reservation early in the week. I added 2 people to make 6 but they said they had to put us on the patio. They have heaters but it looks terrible and people open the door on this little space and you freeze. People are in and out all the time. Our bill for 2 was $115,000. and being cold and the patio is not great. We still had a good time. I would only eat inside from now on. The food is great everytime we go. When you eat inside it's very nice."

"I was particularly excited to finally try La Coop, as I had seen that the chef was recognized as one of the top five chefs in Louisville this past year (2012). I was an exchange student in France for an entire summer and my husband and I spent time in Paris in 2009. I can honestly say that the escargots rivaled ANYTHING I had in Paris. The short rib was the best my husband had yet tasted; my bistec and frites were on point, and the salade aux noir de pecans with the scoop of blue cheese ice cream was divine and creative. For dessert, try the pouding au pain de banane! Tres magnifique!"

"The food was absolutely wonderful! The signature French Onion Soup was the best I have ever tasted. And the banana pudding desert with ice cream that had a hint of bourbon is worth it no matter how full you are!"

"Great dinner. Most amazing salad ever with blue cheese ice cream!! Very generous serving and great flavor on scallops. Only criticism was lobster risotto-lots of lobster but too much butter! It was swimming in fat but the flavor was sooo good."

"Three of us shared 3 different dishes and had trouble determining our favorite. They were all delicious, but I think we decided the short ribs won. Very creative drink menu and a nice wine list. Definitely would return."

"Wonderful meal. Coq au Vin was excellent. My wife had the salmon special and loved it. The chocolate dessert with vanilla creme was too small. My wife, an admitted chocoholic, would like too see it as an entre. :)"
