The Gastro Bar
The Gastro Bar at 35th offers a fresh twist on tapas, the traditional small dishes of Spain, by infusing Mediterranean flavors with elements unique to New York City.
The Gastro Bar showcases cocktails created by Liquid Architecture, a beverage consultancy firm that specializes in handcrafted cocktails using fresh herbs, citrus juices, syrups and infusions made in-house. In addition, the wine selection includes wines from Rioja, Ribera del Duero and other top wine regions from the Mediterranean, as well as carefully selected Chilean, Argentinean and American wines.
With no less than 20 tapas on the menu at all times, Chef Walsh will cultivate dishes that explode with bold flavors and are designed to please even the most discerning palates.

"There was nobody available to take our names at the door, nor when we were seated by a waiter. Our food orders took twenty to thirty minutes for each dish, while the second serving was forgotten as were our drink orders. We were almost late for a show and received no explanation for the service. The food was above average but sadly not worth the wait."

"This is inside the Westin Hotel and right by the front door. It is not an extensive menu by any stretch. Was not bad, but I wouldn't go there again with all the other options out there."

"Granted I am a tough grader and would only give 5 stars to something exquisite, Gastro Bar is a great place for tapas and drinks. I tried 5 dishes and the lamb dish and the sliders were my favorites with the lamb being the best in my opinion. We were seated quickly, the service was good and the wait for the food was not long. For it's price and convenience, Gastro Bar is definitely a good pick. I would definitely consider going back here."

"A real disappointment and a total mismatch with the comments and reviews placed on "Open Table". We expected a great and typical place for Tapas, but what we found was nothing more than a place serving different types of small appetizers; incl. even some sort of pizza.... Very strange."

"Met here with colleagues for drinks after work. It is located in the lobby of a hotel and had a nice 3 piece band playing beginning at 6:00. The food offerings were good(small plates - tapas style), the winelist was very nice (not ridiculously overpriced) as well a decent cocktail menu. The staff was very attentive and accomodating. We chose this bar since may of us commute out of Penn Station and Port Authority and it was quite convenient. Would definitely frequent again and recommend to others."
