"A great find- took my parents on their visit and it was perfect, big portions at really great prices, excellent seafood- got the swordfish and spinach paella- really yummy. parents got softshell crabs and seafood special and calamari- everything was awesome and so good you wanted to finish but couldn't there was so much. at first when we sat down they brought out weak Italian bread and sad marinara sauce I was worried...but everything after that was just spectacular, including the service. the 2nd ave train construction is unfortunate across the street, but they manage to have a nice atmosphere. Def recommend!!"

"I was very please with the service and quality of the food. Our waiter was personable and knew the menu well. Was surprised at the age range of diners, much older than one would expect could have been an AARP meeting"

"Drastic drop in quality and service from Greek bistro previously in this location. Best part of the meal was crusty bread on table with complementary sundried tomato spread. Downhill from there. -- Sauteed mushroom app was tasteless - slivered mushrooms hidden by insipid sauteed peppers. -- Beet salad was fresh, lightly dressed and enjoyable. -- Grilled octopus entree was sad: rubbery, bland octo surrounding a mound of over cooked spinach.
Main course took an hour to arrive even though the resto was only half full. Our friendly waiter seemed as frustrated as we were. Outdoor seating was pleasant despite overlooking Second Ave subway construction. Bottom line: Even with moderate prices, this place isn't worth the waste of an evening."

"We were looking for a place for a family gathering on the Upper East Side and we hit the jackpot! The food was great, the servers friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is very nice and spacious. Everyone was happy with their meals - the polenta appetizer was a hit, and the caesar and caprese salads were excellent. All the entrees were good as well, as were the desserts - tirami su, chocolate cake and chocolate mousee. And the prices were appropriate. We'll be back."

"I specifically went to Bottega for papardelle with duck ragu, which I've enjoyed very much before. But, it was no longer on the menu. I had a tough time finding anything on the menu that I wanted instead, but chose a fettucine as a replacement. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery to firm, and the seasoning was not very good either. Also ordered really unfortunate calamari appetizer, poorly seasoned and very rubbery. Compared to Carraba's the food here is not good. I'm comparing the calamari app here to Wa Jeal's up the street which is spectacularly seasoned and very tender, and also to Carraba's which is also tender and well-seasoned. The service was good and Bottega is a pretty restaurant, but I did not like the food at all."

"A group of four of us enjoyed an early evening meal on a Sunday. Appetizers of octopus and polenta were especially good. Entrees of homemade gnocchi, ravioli and fettucini all were delicious, as was the fresh fish of the day (red snapper). Our waiter was helpful in choosing a wine, steering us toward a less expensive bottle than I was considering; the resulting selection tasted great!"

"As always, Bottega did not disappoint for food and service. The only negative comment I have is that it was a little uncomfortable. Due to the extreme heat, the air conditioning was not very effective where we were sitting in the restaurant."

"Have eaten at Bottega several times and the food is always delicious! This last time the service was not great but in previous times it was excellent. Would still highly recommend this spot."

"we eat here quite a bit..the food is very enjoyable. the bianca salad is one of our favorites - a very nice combination of flavors. tonight's sea bass special was great! service is very pleasant and un-obtrusive. only sticking point - many restaurants will give you a small taste from an opened bottle, so that you know if you want to purchase that wine. they don't, and the wine is rather expensive (santa margarita pinot grigio is $60/bottle. give me a break - I brush my teeth with that stuff...)"

"I love this neighborhood restaurant. I definitely would come back to get the portobella mushroom and goat cheese salad and all their pastas are amazing. Service was great, bartenders are super nice, wines were great, and Julian the manager, as always, friendly and welcoming."

"Big portions, all tasty, good service and right in my 'hood. Our group all ordered something different; fish, pasta, veal. and everyone liked their dish. the soup du jour, lentil, was thick, hearty and enough for a whole meal., but we ordered mains anyway."

"Reliable for Italian- food is well prepared and price reasonable for the neighborhood. When the warmer weather arrives the outside dining area is desirable."

"first visit to this NYC restaurant. Our experience started with a reservation being honored. We noticed a small lounge area so we were pleased that our table was ready. The menu is reasonably varied and the choice of a variety of specials was enticing to the members of the group. The prices of most of the dishes were in line, except we all had salads and noted that they were a bit pricey for this meal.We did not have dessert, but there was a acceptable variety."

"Had a wonderful dinner here. Veal and red snapper entrées were delicious. Split the cheese cake for dessert. Light and sooo good. The sundried tomato garlic and olive oil they give you with bread? This was out of this world. Have to go back just to get more. They said the recipe was a secret and I understand why.
Service was excellent and food came out amazingly fast. Keep in mind if your in a hurry to eat."

"Pros: Terrific, attentive service - the waiter took care to bring out a meal for my restless young nephew early. Overall the service was great. They were also great with the birthday cake surprise.
Fairly priced
Location - Bottega was perfectly located for celebrating my mother's birthday, as we had a relative nearby at the hospital.
Cons: The food was unfortunately mixed and mediocre. Much of the food was signed or burnt, including our two appetizers. One in our party had to send her fish back, and the second plate was also a little burned."

"I have been to Bottega a few times as it is really close to my apartment. Service is consistently great, the space is lovely and the food is good. We ordered one dish that I have had before that was not nearly as good as it was in the past, but I am hopeful that it was a one-time issue and everything else we ordered was great. Dessert was delicious, as was the wine. Will return, especially in spring or summer to sit outside."

"We were so pleased by our visit this past week. The room is really pretty, lined with bottles, servers were so accomodating and helpful and the food was very good and well-priced. We all started with salads, the mache and avocado had a light shallot dressing and the caesars were appropriately cheesy and tasty. We shared some fish dishes and the chef accommodated our wish to change the presentation on the branzino. Portions are not large, so I don't think we'd share entrees again, but it was enough for our small party of women. I had heard less than glowing reviews shortly after Bottega opened, but it seems to have hit its stride!"

"The food was bland and the service was terrible, with the waiter repeatedly trying to take away our dishes or glasses before we were finished. Clearly they didn't want us to be there, and we will happily oblige by never going back."

"we like this place, we have eaten there several times. it does get very noisy, however (this week we ate on a tuesday, so it was much quieter). the food is nice, the simpler the preparation the better. the food gets lost in "fancier" preparations....like the special cornish hen that was tasty, but nearly drowned in a balsamic reduction."

"Totally delightful. My friends kept thanking me for suggesting Bottega. Subdued lighting, well spaced tables, competent service allow delicious food to shine. A wonderful counterpoint to the bleakness of Second Avenue"
