"This was my second time here and it was again a fantastic experience. What more can someone ask for? They offer great cocktails/wine, inspired entrées, delectable desserts, and the cherry: top-rate customer service. My girlfriend and I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops respectively. They were great, both in preparation and quality of ingredients. These (and our great accompanying wines + desserts) were suggested by our server Dahan. He was amazing and will definitely be a reason I return for more here at The Woodfire Grille!"

"We were very pleased to see bison back on the menu- excellently prepared and delicious.

"Went on a Saturday night. Atmosphere is pleasant and warm. Fireplaces light up the entire dining room. The menu has a bit of everything to please all. The wine list is outstanding. I have seen bottles on the list that you would pay 30% more for in any other Chicagoland or Illinois restuarant. The somollier has done an outstanding job with the wine list. The food and service were excellent. I would recommend this restaurant as a hidden gem for anyone who is staying in the Galena area. It is more than worth the 20 min drive to over the river to dine here. Is is attached to Diamond Jo casino but is seprarately owned and operated."

"This was our second time to this restaurant. Our first experience was very good which is why we came back. Unfortunately the recent experience did not favorably compare to the previous one. The bottle of champagne was warm and when I told our server she said they serve their wines at their cellar temperature and she put it back in the ice bucket in hopes it would chill up which it did not. The lobster was overcooked and flavorless. When I made the reservation on open table on our first time there I said it was for a special occassion as I did this time. There was one window booth left which I requested but the maitre de said it was reservered so we were seated elsewhere. We were almost done with our dinner when that booth was used."

"I'm only a college student and I decided to take my girlfriend out for a nice dinner. Saw that Woodfire was rated pretty highly and the menu was outrageously priced, so I chose to try it. One of the best restaurants I've been too in a long time. Service was outstanding, waitresses from other tables would help clear plates and ask if you needed anything. Food was mouth watering! We had the salmon and the prime rib, it was to die for! The tomato jelly they give you with bread rolls made my night, I've never tasted anything that unique and delicious"

"Yes everything you have red is true about it not being cheep, but considering the quality of food, service, and knowledgeable serving staff is very very well worth every penny paid just not exactly the kind of thing you would do on a regular basis. My wife and I went on our first real date since our son was born and will more then likely rerun for our anniversary! In my opinion, if your looking for an up scale restaurant in Dubuque this is the place to go!"

"Entertained friends from out of town who are very much into fine wines. However, I was previously unaware we could bring our own wine here as I was always told by others they would not allow it as they were on casino property. Not true as our server informed us otherwise. However, the wine list is reasonably priced such that it makes one reconsider bring bottles from the cellar at home. Service has always been great here and this night was no exception. My steak was unfortunately overdone on this occasion but the staff was right on top of it and made things right. This is our fifth time here and each time we have been here we find many reasons to return."

"Very impressed with wine list--our favorite bottle of wine was $43, instead of the usual $70. Salads and fresh baked rolls were very good. But entrees were both disappointing.
My husband ordered the blackberry barbeque ribs and they were not tender and needed a side of sauce. My beef filet was cooked to a perfect medium, but I expected more flavor. Seasonings were bland and the prosciutto and cheese topping was so cold that it cooled down the beef too much --the cheese didnt melt. And the lobster Mac and cheese was flavorful, but I didn't see even a fleck of lobster meat.
Maybe it was because Valentine's weekend was busy but he overall experience was disappointing."

"This is my wifes and my 4th time eating here. We usually make it our Valentines gift to each other. Everytime we have gone to the Woodfire, the food is just as good as the last time we were there. It is a GREAT place to eat, and it is quiet so you can have a quiet conversation with yelling. The service is outstanding and the variety is also great. I liked the Woodfire so much, that I sent a letter to the City of Dubuque asking them why they don't have any signs up advertising this great place to eat."

"The Woodfire Grille is our favorite Dubuque restaurant and we try to get there each time we visit from St. Paul, MN. It is a perfect spot to celebrate any occasion. We love the food - the avocado roll appetizers, lobster bisque soup, salmon and steaks are our favorites. The molten lava cake dessert is a fantastic way to end a delicious meal! The service has been excellent at each of our visits. We will continue to dine here as often as we are able."

"Beautiful restaurant with great table service. The entree was great(filet mignon) but the chopped salad was overly dressed and garlic mashed potatoes were too strong. I also received a rude voicemail from the restaurant stating that I was 20 minutes late for my reservation and that they gave my table away. This while I was SITTING AT MY TABLE IN THE RESTAURANT. Overall, I feel that the meal was over-priced for the quality I received."

"My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a dinner at the Woodfire Grille. It was a very special evening due to the great food, wine, and service. We both ordered from the special Valentine's menu and the seared scallops were outstanding, as was the lemon cake with raspberry sauce. Our server, Lisa, was outstanding. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, and we will ask for her again."

"My husband and I were celebrating a special occasion and had never visited the Woodfire Grille. I will admit that I was a bit hesitant after I read some of the reviews, but anyone can experience an off night. The atmosphere was no elegant yet warm and inviting.
The food was very delicious, but the Lobster Bisque was only warm at best, I probably should have asked to have it heated up, but once we tasted it we couldn't stop eating it. This was truly the BEST Lobster Bisque I have ever had. There were large pieces of Lobster and the portion size was very generous. Overall a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something special."

Our favorites were the avocado rolls with a chili dipping sauce, the lobster bisque, and the fresh raspberry mohito! But everything we ordered starting with the cocktails all the way down to the creme brulee and complimentary espresso truffles was incredible.
Our server, Lisa, paced everything out for us perfectly and was so personable.
I hope we will be hack!"

"Always a favorite for a lovely dinner with friends (or special family occasion)--or for a romantic dinner for two! Food is exceptional and leans towards gourmet for this area. Decor is warm and inviting, yet restaurant is chic and up-scale--use of flames to suggest a fireplace is the perfect touch. Wait staff is "seasoned" to fill the needs of the finest of guests. We will continue to return for future enjoyable meals."

"We attended Woodfire for a business dinner. The staff was very accomidating as we reserved our table for 5:30 but decided at arrival a few cocktails would be nice before we dined. They were able to get us another table at a later time and didn't seemed bothered by our last minute change. I would recommend Woodfire but be aware the prices are HIGH! The food was good and different from your typical resturaunt which was refreshing. The desert was presented very nicely and also was very good."
