Welcome!!!
Exit bustling Highway 111, pass the waterfall, cross the red footbridge over the golden koi and enter the delightful world of Japanese dining at Kobe Japanese Steak House. Experience the excitement and distinctive flavors of our authentic Japanese teppan-yaki ("iron plate cooking"), prepared right at your table by knife-wielding chefs. Located in a replica of a Japanese country inn, Kobe is best known as the home of beautiful kimono-clad servers and the most talented teppan chefs in the desert, serving the highest quality and most flavorful beef, seafood and poultry available in Southern California.
"The prices: expect to pay $30+per person -which includes 1 non-alcoholic drink. The portion sizes are smaller but one leaves 'full'. "Early Bird" specials are roughly $5 less. The show is good depending on who is 'cooking' & at your table! In the past the veggies included bean sprouts, but the night we went they had red bell peppers instead. The steak & chicken were a bit 'chewy' but over-all decent flavor. The "NY Steak is roughly 1/2"x8" slab which includes fat. The other 'steak' listed is cubed, as is the chicken. If unaware: prawns are larger then shrimp. If you don't enjoy sesame seeds BE SURE to ask for none PRIOR to the cooking! It can get quite noisy all the people and the show, so don't expect a quite atmosphere Parking is Vallet"

"We having been coming here for many years. Every time we visit the Palm Springs/Rancho Mirage area we visit this great place. Our teenagers love it and kids love it. The steaks are great and the amount of food they give you is ample. They also have good sushi and bar drinks. This is even a fun place to come with a date."

"The food is fantastic, the entertainment of the chef is also wonderful. The atmosphere is great for kids over about 8 years old. They are entertained as well. We brought our 10 and 14 year old boys. The chef entertained to the kids as well. I would recommend Kobe's to anyone for any occasion."

"Had a great time. Our chef was very good and entertaining. My wife caught the shrimp on her mouth. What fun. Will be back. To much food, way to full had to take some home."

"Great service and generous unlike most of these Japanese steakhouses that typically nickel and dime you. Food good but didn't like the salad dressing as much as others serving same food."

"My wife and I were in Palm Springs for our 20th wedding anniversary and ate here on our honeymoon 20 years ago. Very good food and the show was great."

"We went to Kobe's w/ a group of 9. From the moment we got there we were rushed through our meal. There was no break between soup, appetizer and the main meal. We were literally done within an hour. It's no fun to be rushed. In addition, while the shrimp was very yummy, my orange roughy was very fishy tasting. I took two bites and couldnt eat any more. The server did not ask me why i didnt eat my meal. They showed no concern over it at all. I won't be returning."

"Beautiful Japanese restaurant and great fun for kids to watch the cooking action at the table. Food was good, but much too much of it. Took a "doggy bag" home and had another complete meal out of it. Never as good at home."

"The menu has changed. The usual Teppan fair does not include salad, or bean sprouts - but substitutes with more mushrooms, onions, and a bite of bell pepper and zucchini. I will admit that the food is better now, less salt and oil - but they nickle and dime you for the additions while the menu prices stayed the same for an entree without the added food. They have a lot of servers and hostesses that are not very helpful or cordial. We waited 30 minutes for our reservation. Luckily the manager Julian and the sushi chefs took great care of all of our issues and gave us great service."

"Have been going to Kobe for years for special occasions and sometimes just because. We've always been pleased with the service and food. This time the food was average."

"Our family has been going to Kobe's for 30 years, and this is the first time that we could sit and enjoy a conversation after we had dinner without being rushed to finish and leave. I really hope that this is a new policy, and if so, we will come more often."

"Can't tell you how manyntimes we have been here and everything has always been great. Started going there back in the 80s and make its point to have a meal there every time we are in the area. Just consistently great Teppan cooking."

"The restaurant smelled greasy; as did our clothes when we got home. The quality of food was poor; mixed vegetables which consisted of mostly onions, some mushrooms, and squash. About $1.50 worth of vegetables to be shared by eight people; I really expected more. And the ultimate insult is that you have to valet park; I am quite capable of parking my own car, take much better care when pulling out of a parking spot, and stopping in front of the door, and don't mind if I must walk more than twenty feet. We won't be back to Kobe, and will certainly not recommend it to friends."

"The experience could be rated ok, except that the moment the chef is finished with the cooking show 2-3 waiters come and take the plate from under you! You don't even get 10 minutes to eat and chat. The check is brought to you along with dessert. They make no expert to hide the fact the it's time to go. While your passing the bill, the waiters are bringing to go boxes. Funny to the point of ridiculousness, lol."

"We always come to Kobe when in Palm Springs. The kids love the show! This year, we were in the main dining room. Not my favourite as it is too noisy to have a conversation. If we go back, we will reqest a smaller room so we can hear each other."
