"I have eaten here many times. The food is always good, but the service is abysmal! I want to be a regular, but pretty much only come here when family is visiting from out of town. It takes FOREVER to order, the waiters don't know ANYTHING about the food or drinks or wine, all the neighboring tables are getting horrible service, no one offers a second round if drinks. It's pretty uncomfy."

"Had a tasty Friday evening dinner with my brothers and their significant others. Reservations for the 6 of us were a must, and we were glad we had them as the restaurant became quite busy with a young energetic crowd. The service at Peels was exceptional, and we were all very pleased with our cocktails and food choices. Really, everything was delicious...we had menu and special items for that night - everything was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit."

"It was overall a pleasant experience. I was meeting with friends so, One of the most important things was that the noise level was low, which allowed us to catch up without having to yell at each other! The food was tasty, the wine perfect and light for our meal of multiple shared appetizers, and the company great. However our waiter was pushy and seemed offended when we didn't want dessert and pressured us to look at the menu. That gesture alone made us get up leave and find dessert elsewhere."

"The star of Peels seems to be the build-a-biscuit breakfast/brunch item and it was quite good. Offers options as people can customize their meal any way they want so it solves the fussy eater problem. The food itself was very good. Donuts and other baked goods add an additional element of character to the meal. The space itself is great. Warm, inviting, and well done. The service was a mixed experience. The people were polite, warm and very helpful with the menu. Something just didnt work though as water, coffee, drinks went unattended. Half your meal, you're wishing for a refill but it was impossible to flag someone down to get more. Wouldn't be so bad if the cups weren't incredibly small. Overall i would go back though."

"The pros: This place is super cute & the fried chicken & biscuits are to die for. It has a great casual atmosphere that was perfect for dinner catching up with friends.
The cons:
Most things on their drink menu SOUND really good, but they don't TASTE very good. They should re-vamp. Even the wine we tried wasn't good.

Also, I'm only giving 2 stars for service as our server (Kevin) was so horrendous, he got sent home after serving us. The manager did try to make it up to us with drinks & a dessert, but the damage had been done.

"The food here was excellent! I look forward to going back. The service was lovely, but due to a computer glitch, our drinks took forever. As they were comped, I can't complain. We had brunch - try the veggie hash. Fantastic. I look forward to coming back next time I'm in town."

"Great neighbourhood restaurant. It boasts two large seating areas covering two floors. Staff are attentive, personable, professional and knowledgeable. The food is top notch and the so is the drinks selection. The bars on both floors are well stocked and ideal for after work drinks. I went there with a girl I was trying to impress but not overwhelm and I think it did the trick."

"Great experience! Being from the south, I am one of the first to call out a "pretender". You could serve any of the dishes we had anywhere in the South and be proud of it.

"Food was amazing (must get the tuna tartare) The table loved the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and the Market Fish of the Day (swordfish). Thank goodness the food and drinks were amazing cause the service was awful. I've worked in the service industry so I am usually the one that gives the servers the benefit of the doubt. Our server never once came to out table to say "Would you like to order apps? Entrees? Drinks??" Everytime we needed something whether it be a round of drinks or to simply place our order we were the ones flagging down the server "asking" if we could order. It was bad. Apps, drinks, entrees, drinks, dessert, drinks....always had to flag him down. BAD! Never even apologized either which made it worse!"

"Heard wonderful things about the fried chicken. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. the portion size was small and the chicken was under cooked.For the $21 price ituld have been nice to at least have a breast instead of 2 thighs and a leg. However, the Tasso Chips and the Mac and cheese were amazing. The Moon Coast oysters we had on the half shell were alsoout of this world. Should have stuck with just the appetizers. Overall not worth the price or the trip."

"Lovely little gem with terrific food. I had the shrimp and grits and it was divine (perfect comfort food for a blah winter day). I don't think the hostess had read the notes, as I was seated in a place that was the opposite from where I requested. It turned out fine, but be sure to reiterate any special requests you have. It made sense, as even though I made a reservation, the restaurant didn't fill up until 30 minutes after I arrive (I arrived at 12:45), so it fills up late. I would absolutely go back and recommend Peels - I want to try other thing!"

"Pimento cheese dip was amazing. I felt like my fried chicken skin was so cripsy it was actually hard and the meat was a bit pink close to the bone. It seems like the oil may have been too high when they fried it. My friend said her steak was good but nothing special. Our other friend ordered the daily special, a porkchop, which was probably the best out of our entrees."

"It seems that they just don't care. The bartender and waiters/runners seemed like they were too cool for school. Apathetic and bored, we only saw the waiter once as he took our order and then once again at the end of the meal. I wanted a second glass of wine but nobody was there to take the order. The busboys dropped off our food without a word. Everything with the exception of the potato dumplings was served lukewarm. The crust on the fried chicken was nice but the meat was bland and underseasoned. And they had nerve to only have a suggested 20% gratuity on the check. I'm a very generous tipper, especially as I've waited tables before. But this experience wasn't worthy of a 20% tip, let alone 15%."
