"Four dollar craft beers on a Friday night is a winner. Food was very good and staff is on top of their game. Not the easiest place to find as the address is on Walnut St but not the entrance."

"My trout was excellent. My wife ordered scallops, which were also very good. Need to add more wine choices, but otherwise it is an excellent value for the money. We will be back."

"This was the second time my husband and I tried Up. The first time it was fine, but not spectacular. We tried it again, and we're very disappointed. First, our arancini appetizer was not good. The risotto outside was tasteless and dry, and the cheese center was cold. My beet salad was passable, though the beets lacked much flavor. My husband said his Caesar salad was very mediocre. For our entrees, my husband ordered the striped bass special and I ordered the pear and cheese ravioli. I actually really liked my entree: it was interesting, flavorful, and delicious. My husband' bass was very overcooked (it had sort of curled around the skin the way overcooked fish does) and rubbery, also without much flavor. Go to Pino's or Cibo instead."

"Food was overpriced and bland. I am still trying to figure out why they call themselves an Italian restaurant. Nothing was really special. They ran out of everything and their menu is already very limited. Drinks weren't very good and were overpriced as well. Will not go back and will not recommend to anyone. For such a great location in Shady Side, it's ashame it's such a blah restaurant."

"Food and especially the drinks were nothing special. Was there on Valentine's day and the restaurant was only about 1/2 full. Meatball app was pretty good, it's spicy. Entrees (scallops & gnocchi), just ok. Would go back for happy hour for discount apps, drinks, but not full price for dinner."

"This was the first time we have eaten here. The food and service was very good. Our table was overlooking Walnut St. which gave us a nice view and was away from other tables. We did ask to move from our original table, as with most of the tables in the restaurant, was too close to other diners. You could hear their conversations better than your own. Other than that, we would recommend to others looking for a casual dinner."

"Really disapointing. I love dining on Walnut St and I was really excited to try UP. We had made a reservation and were seated right away. We ordered salads, cesar and arugula and they arrived quickly. However, the arugula salad was extremely acidic I had to send it back, and I never send food back. It tasted as though I was biting directly into a lemon, it was horrible. For our entrees we ordered spaghetti and meatball, and the roasted chicken. The pasta dish was good, although I was disappointed the pasta wasn't homemade. Chicken was well cooked but underseasoned, could have used some of the lemon from my salad. The plate was entirely white (chicken, potatoes, garlic) and just looked unappetizing. We won't be back"

"Food was good but not great. Dishes were a little plain and lacking flavor. Bar drinks were good. Place is good for appetizers and a few drinks, if your a foodie, go somewhere else for good Italian."
