"Finz was the perfect place for my family to celebrate Mother's Day. We went in the evening and had a wonderful time. My youngest daughter and I like basic food while my husband and oldest daughter like more complex dishes. We all found meal choices that were perfect for us. My daughter wants to go back there for her birthday. Good choice."

"The food is always terrific however this time our waitress was not attentive or seemed to care to be there.
I realize it is Mother's Day but her lack of offering suggestions and poor service was inexcusable.
I am glad this was not the first time there I would not be back. The food is good but pricey so to have poor service makes you hesitate to try it again.
The salad that I loved here was so small we had to get another one. The last time the portion was huge and for the same price!!!"

"we found this restaurant near our hotel on a recent trip to Salem MA -- very good food (my wife had a lobster dish and I had the Fisherman's Stew) -- I found the food, ambience and service to be a great combination -- we were served timely and not made to feel like we were getting rushed out the door even though they were busy -- would definitely return"

"fINZ HAD EXCELLENT FOOD, AMBIANCE AND MUSIC. IT WAS A BIT LOUD IN THE BAR AREA BUT THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED WHEN THE BRUINS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS AND A LIVE BAND IS PALYING IN HTE BACKGROUND. "Had a good time finding something new... went on a pure leap of faith and was pleased. That said... after sitting right down on time for our reservation, our waiter was nowhere to be seen... clearly though, the staff is well trained and a waitress at a neighboring table noticed we were not tended to and jumped to our rescue... all was made right in minutes. Again, that said, our waiter didn't know beans about Finz's outstanding FRESH (on tap) beer offerings. This is a sin. The good news is he comp'd the second beer for not bringing the right beer or knowing one from another. We'd definitely go back (maybe not at the height of the season) and explore the menu some more... Food was OUTSTANDING. Still don't know what Cobia (fish) is..."

"My wife suggested that we go to Finz. It was our anniversary and the night was special for us. Our server took care of us & had a great time himself, I believe.
The only downfall for us was the greeter when we got to the restaurant that night. To me, she seemed like she was more focused on getting ready to leave for the evening. There was no smile when greeting us upon arriving at the restaurant"

However, most of what is offered is farm-raised. That leaves me very few options if I want to eat fish that is really good for my health and dietary concerns. I don't think Finz caters to that discriminating a clientele when it comes to that aspect of their menu. Finz would be terrific if it would pay some attention to their menu in this regard."

"We live in Salem and go to Finz often. Because it gets very noisy on weekend nights, we try to go for lunch or during the week. Many of their dishes are interesting and tasty (I adore the blackened catfish tostada -- an appetizer but a perfect small meal) but other things are just so-so. The oysters are always good. There's a nice wrap-around deck for outdoor seating but the view isn't stellar -- for that you have to go to Capt's or Victoria Station."

"I was looking forward to Easter Brunch at Finz - the menu promised oysters, crab legs, seafood dishes and other brunch fare.
It was busy - to be expected for Easter Sunday - but our waitress quickly offered drinks and we never saw her again until the bill arrived.
After ordering drinks, we headed to the buffet only to find the food to be mostly picked over, empty or lukewarm. The oyster and seafood buffet section was shut down mere minutes after we arrived!
We noticed the table seated just minutes after us was given the option to order off the menu since the buffet was "closing soon". Instead, we paid over $100 for two drinks and a cold, half-empty buffet. Very disappointed in the food, the service and the entire experience."

"Horrible Easter experience. We were seated at a table that was practically on top of the two other tables in either side of us. Went up for salad on 3 different occasions & out of the two kinds that were offered, one was always missing. One person attempting to shuck the oysters that were offered & the poor kid couldn't keep up, thereby leaving an empty oyster dish every time I went to get some. Very disappointed & unfortunately my family & I will be looking elsewhere next Easter"

"We started with the baked goat cheese for an appetizer for 10.99. The bread that it was served with was crisp and hot but the portion of goat cheese and olive oil was very very skimpy. The arugula salad was just OK....nothing to write home about...not bad but not good either. The entrees were delicious, and they should be for the price. Restaurant was busy and the service reflected a slightly backed up service and kitchen staff.

"I've been going to Finz for years. I've always been pleased with the food and service. In the summer the place gets quite busy and is extremely loud indoors. If you can get a seat outside, it is worth it. In the winter it is very pleasant to dine indoors.
Swapping out a few dishes on the menu occasionally would be nice to add to the variety for us regulars.
I had the Chiopino. As always, delicious."

"Great menu...a little on the pricey side but always consistent. Service was excellent. We celebrated my father's 92nd birthday and were able to bring in the cake...not always the case in many restaurants. We had a great table in front of the fireplace. We had a great time! We are fans of Finz!!!!"

"The wait on St. Valentine's Day was very long - 20-25 minutes past the time of our reservation. Bar was very crowded, no Valentine's drinks or specials advertised in the bar. We would have had drinks had we known what was available. We were about to leave when we finally seated. The experience improved greatly once we were seated. Drinks were good, food was very good, service was good. We will go back, but on a non-holiday weeknight only."

"We had friend visiting from out of town that wanted to be near the ocean for dinner. Finz was a great spot. Used public parking garage very close by. (.25 cents/hour) Shrimp enchilada was delicious. Only con was seating was a bit close. This was a little uncomfortable since the young lady seated next to us was 1 mm away from a wardrobe malfunction."
