"I was blown away by the quality and freshness of all of the food at Tandoor Char House. The flavors were incredible! The server was very nice and gave great recommendations."

"We had a wonderful experience at Tandoor the other night, though we ordered way too much food - it was all excellent. They ask you about the spice level you want. It seems the basic spice level is pretty low, so for most lovers of Indian food they may want to ask for at least medium spice level."

"This was my first, but won't be my last time to Tandoor Char House. The restaurant is in an assuming, non-descript storefront, so it can be easily overlooked - make a special trip. I had lunch with a friend.
My chicken kabob wrap was packed full of nicely spiced chicken, lettuce and tomatoes (have them put the salad in the wrap), and it came with a plate full of their chaat fries (spicy, curly fries). All meals include a variety of chutney's - the Achar is fresh, crisp and SPICY (not for the faint of hear), the Tamarind is sweet without being sugary, and Cilantro is fresh an aromatic. My friend's Baigan Masala was rich, flavorful and the eggplant wasn't overcooked - cooked yet still firm (al dente).
I'll be back....."

"Our waiter told us that dining at Tandoor Char House should feel as though we were at his mothers house, and that is exactly how it felt. From the warm, helpful, attentive service to the menu suggestions, our experience could not have been better or more comfortable. And the food was delicious! Can't wait to go back. Thank you for a lovely evening!"

"Reasonable prices. Dishes were adaptable as far as spice level. My date and I ordered our entrees 'spicy' and were not disappointed. Pakora was delicous, as well as Shrimp Tikka Masala and Paneer Cheese Naan. The Baigan Masala had very tender eggplant and went well with the rice. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation, but the owner was very accommodating and offered water and wine glasses to get us through the wait. This establishment is BYOB."

"I found this gem and reserved a table based on the HUGE amount of 5-star ratings for this restaurant. Tandoor Char House is a family-owned and operated restaurant. The ambiance is rather simple, but the food and service are OUTSTANDING. The flavors are textured and delicious. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our server shared stories about his family and the cuisine. My friend and I were positively enchanted. We will return for sure."

"The service was fantastic even though I didn't know anyone's name (they didn't tell us). We got the impression from a few people that they were the owners/chefs, so it was hard to nail down, but great that, whoever they were, had a direct hand in making menu suggestions, answering questions and checking up on guests. Food was great but not life-changing (few foods should be, otherwise, it doesn't say much about your life and how easy it is to change). The desserts were phenomal whereas most Indian restaurants tend to leave me with something to be desired in that department. Unlimited rice and chutneys are crucial for an Indian restaurant and that sealed the deal for me here...only wish that policy applied to naan!"

"Tandoor Char offers true hospitality. Go -- if only to be reminded what hospitality feels like. Dishes are varied, flavorful and generous; everyone can find something to like -- from vegetarians to carnivores. My only regret is that I passed this restaurant so many times and only recently checked it out. Don't wait -- go now. A true neighborhood gem. Maybe you'll be fortunate, as we were, to get Sean as your server."

"Seems to be a very popular place - we arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait about 30 minutes. The waiting area and overall decor left some to be desired, but when we were finally seated the food more than made up for it. We shared an appetizer (free as a gesture for the wait), biryani (served with salad) and entree between 3 people - more than enough food and all of it delicious."

"Very engaged service, an owner who cares and delicious Indian and Pakistani specialties including both curried and tandoori dishes. Excellent eggplant and beef in curried stews simmered until full of complex flavors. Tandoori Lamb was charred and tender. Samosas make a nice starter and the mango lassi is superb with more mango than some mango juice. Good recommendations on the menu. Pretty quiet at lunch. Hope dinner is more active so this good place stays around."

"Reserved a table for 2 on a Friday night, when we got there, the table reserved for us was a couple flights up from the entrance at the corner. Not really a nice spot, looks like I was gonna fall any minute. I wanted a different table, but since it was a Friday night, the place was packed. Our server "Jackson" if I remember it right was so nice and made me feel comfortable even at first I was really uneasy with the spot. He got our order, food came and the vegetable samosas we got was cold. They changed it, Manager/Owner came and said our vegetable samosa was on the house. He even offered us a free dessert. That was good customer service. Food is great. Not oily like any other IndoPak restaurant, you will leave the place happy and satisfied."

"Excellent India food - and its BYOB! All the recipes here are family owned and have their own slight variations to them. We got the Chicken Tikka Masala and a few orders of naan - we couldn't get enough of it! It had the traditional flavor to it but with a few other spices thrown in which made it delicious. The pistachio cheesecake was amazing too - wasn't too heavy and tasted great. I will definitely be coming back soon."

"This was my second visit to Tandoor. After my first visit I recommended the restaurant to my roommates and they have been ordering delivery weekly. The food is great, the waitstaff is very friendly, and the prices are fair especially considering the large portion sizes.
I've been living in Lincoln Park for almost a year and have tried several local restaurants in that time. I would have to put Tandoor in my top 3."

"Had a great experience. When we requested to have a different table, the hostess/manager were very accommodating. We ordered the chaat fries, where if you are indian you can skip. In general it tastes like wendy's curly fries with some chaat masala. We also ordered the tandoori chicken tikka masala and the baigan bartha. Both were good, although definitely order the chicken tikka dish. The naan were hot, soft and fluffy. Also the mango cheesecake was wonderful as well. Definitely a solid Indian restaurant."

"Food rivals some of the homemade dishes my Indian friends' mothers have made. One of the best Indian restaurants I've eaten at. And the waiters are very knowledgable and helpful. Can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. Also prices are extremely reasonable and portions are huge!"
