"Great location and great food. We were a party of 3 and ordered the Beef Tenderloin Skewers, Grilled Mahi Mahi and Salad Nicoise with seared tuna. All 3 were excellent. The waitstaff seemed a bit frantic but we all survived. Don't go here when you are rushed and you'll have a wonderful dining experience."

"My husband and I along with a girlfriend ate here before going to the Long Center. The food was stellar including the grilled polenta with blue cheese and marinara. My husband loved the pork chop and my girlfriend and I had a salad each. The drinks were superb and the wine list was more than adequate. We will definitely return to Zax again. It was a great place prior to the show. Parking was a little difficult so we parked on the street. This place was really hopping!"

"Great place to hit before going to the Long Center for concert. My Scallops were wonderful paired with some type of cheesy polenta and brussel sprouts. My wife's speak was a bit over cooked but the sauce of it was great and the french fries were down very well.. Tasty!"

"We went to Zax before the theater on a Saturday night. We were dining light, choosing soups, salads and quesadillas. We all enjoyed our choices. The ingredients were clearly fresh, and the preparation shows care and a flair for blending flavors. The service was responsive and friendly. The only quibble we had was that the wait staff tend to rush by the tables constantly, and since the wooden floors both echo and flex a bit, it leaves the diner feeling a bit like we're dining in the middle of a very busy thoroughfare."

"Zax is easy to get to and has its own parking lot. The menu has a great variety of appetizers and entrees. There is also a great selection of salads. Our dinners were fantastic and featured the fresh seafood and vegetables. Our servicer was friendly and attentive and he did a great job timing our courses."

"I took a group of coworkers from out of town to Zax's because of the great beer selection, the high quality of the food, and the sheer "Austiness" of the place. Everyone was duly impressed with the food and atmosphere and the location was great for walking over to downtown for the SXSW events after dinner."

"We had reservations but the hostess forgot about us (even though we were the only ones waiting) and we were seated 30 minutes after my reservation time. We seemed to be in the section that no one seemed to know which waiter had which table. When we finally did get a server, she was wonderful. My husband spilled his wine all over my dinner and my shirt and she had my food replated super fast. She also offered me a spare shirt that she had in her locker. I wish I could remember her name because she was wonderful. She was also the only great thing about the night. The food was just ok and the wait at the beginning started us out on a sour note. Also, the parking was horrendous. Not sure if I would recommend Zax to anyone else."

"I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered a veggie burger. My salmon was not fully cooked and I had to send it back so it could be fully cooked. The portion I ate that was not fully cooked ended up giving me a stomachache. My husband wasn't too thrilled about his burger. It was fairly bland. The fries that came with the burger were delicious however. Aside from the failure regarding food, the ambience was pleasant and the location is ideal for anyone with plans at the Long Center afterwards."

"My girlfriend and I always enjoy a dinner before the ballet at Zak's. The location is perfect, the food always good, and the restaurant is not so noisy that I have to shout to have a conversation. The latter is always important as my friend and I "catch up" while we dine. It's so nice to visit over good food."
