Winner of the best dish of the year 2011 (La Gazette) and best French restaurant in 2011 (Mirror), Le Cinquième Péché is a long time foodies favorite. Our Chef Benoit Lenglet serves unique dishes that are comforting and masterly executed.
"We had the tasting menu for two with the wine tastings. I was somewhat reluctant to order the tasting menu because the courses were not what I'd ordinarily order, but I've eaten previously ay Au Cinquieme and knew the chef was talented. So happy I took the plunge and had an unforgettable dining of delicious food with perfectly paired wines. The cooking was top level technique and the progression of dishes/wines was very well thought out. Our server was super charming and contributed to the enjoyment of the evening with his descriptions of the food and wine, and why they were chosen. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends."

"This is one of our two favorite restaurants in Montreal, the other being Le Comptoir. The sweetbreads are a signature dish and each time we have ordered it the dish has not disappointed, including this time. Each time the staff has been very helpful and knowledgeable of the menu items. The menu changes and is adjusted for local seasonal foods. Seal was on the menu the night we went and I loved it! We are yet to have a single meal there that we have not fully enjoyed. The last time we were in Montreal was 2 1/2 years ago and last week we were devasted when we walked by their space to see another restaurant in the location. After some research online we found they had moved to a location at St Denis, just off off Boul Mont Royal."

"This student was recommended to me by my students in food and beverage management, and I daresay they could not have picked a better place. The space is small but inviting and comfortable, with a great playlist that interesting but unobtrusive. The service surpassed our expectations. Uber-friendly and knowledgeable, our waitress was patient and helpful. We were allowed to take our time and ask questions, and the information we received actually helped us make up our mind. The sommelier was more of the same: patient, helpful, and best of all we didn't feel like we were being pushed the most expensive bottle on the wine list. The wine pairing perfectly complemented the food. The plates themselves were inventive and delicious! A definite A+!"

"Le choix des vins est original et intéressant. Un classique à ne pas manquer : le ris de veau, cuit à la perfection. En entrée, le pâté de jambon au coeur en foie gras avec compote de poires et pommes est remarquablement bon."

"Food was very good, seal surprising and delicious! A bit too expensive for what it is as many french restaurants in Montréal. Decor is quite cheap but cosy. Strong smell when you enter un the restaurant."

"This was our second time dining at Au Cinquieme Peche. We had an excellent experience the first time and the second was equally as great. The food, service and atmosphere is consistently great. It was worth the drive from Toronto!!"

"We recently tried "Au Cinquième Péché" after hearing about it on the Radio Canada program "L'Épicerie" during which they noted the restaurant's "ris de veau" (sweetbreads). Being lovers of sweetbreads, we were most interested in trying them at "Au Cinquième Péché". We both ordered appetizers (delicious) and the sweetbreads. Wow!Both the service (waiter named Renaud) and food we ordered were excellent. We went on a Tuesday evening in order to avoid the weekend crowds and noise. On the evening we went (during a recent snow storm) there were four tables occupied which made for a most enjoyable quite atmosphere. If you are looking for more action, go on the weekends (Thursday to Saturday). We will definitely go back."

"How did this place get a 26 Zagat rating? I had a great duck heart tartar appetizer, but the main dish, surf and turf (beef + overcooked calamari), was sub-par. Same for dessert. But the decor of the restaurant I liked a lot."

"The food was ok, as i am a vegetarian there were very few choices on the menu for those of us who do not eat meat. One must know that when we look at the menu on line there are a number of choices non meat, however each evening there are a choice of 4 starters and 4 main dishes chosen from the menu we see on line, so there are not as many choices than what we see on line... dissapointing. The beet salad with goat cheese, was very good but the sweet patatoe gnocchi was bland. My friend's meal was the same the entree of foie gras was excellent but the main coarse was just ok. so overall a 3.0, thanks"

"My friend and I were in Montreal for a 1-day gluttony trip, which included this great restaurant. When we arrived at the restaurant we were 30 mins early, but 4-5 very handsome waiters still greeted us happily, took our jackets, and showed us to our table. We were looking forward to trying some seal meat--as this was the only restaurant we knew in Canada that legally served it--however, we found out from our handsome waiter that seal season is only in Spring-Summer time. We did manage to try some seal sausage in their gourmet poutine, which contained to-die-for sweet potato gnocci. If you are going here, you must also try their sweetbread main dish; it was a delightful first-time experience for both of us."

"I was very much looking forward to my dining experience at ACP. I had been a number of times when the restaurant first opened years back and remember being WOWed by the experience then, to the point that I still remember what I had for dinner. This experience lacked that WOW factor. The food was definitely good (except for the gnocchi which was cold and lacked flavor) and the service was excellent, but I left there feeling a little disappointed."
