"Pounds & Ounces is clearly a popular restaurant - and popularity has inflated its ego. The food is decent and the atmosphere is nice, but they are not too concerned about customer service. I attempted to eat there twice, and the second time I made a reservation several days in advance. In both cases, they made it extremely difficult to get a table. They were not very accommodating or flexible, and they made it seem like they didn't want our business. Although I liked the atmosphere, the food was standard and the hosts made us feel unwelcome. It's just not worth the trouble. I won't be going back there anytime soon."

"I was very excited to go to Pounds and Ounces. There were two menu items I was eager to try: red velvet pancakes and lobster corn dogs.
I ordered the items and was sorely disappointed. The red velvet pancakes were pink, not the rich dark color of typical red velvet and I tasted no trace of coco, a must when making red velvet. The "lobster" corn dogs were not stuffed with succulent lobster as I anticipated but rather was filled with some type of seafood sausage that may have had tiny bits lobster in it. I kept trying to taste the lobster and had a difficult time tasting any.
The service was below average. The waiter was not attentive.
The positives: the restaurant is nicely decorated and offers numerous brunch menu options."

"What a disapointment at Pounds and ounces. About as much thought that went into the name went into the food. "Pounds for the weight of food and ounces for alchol" Perfect place if you want a DJ spinning music , low lights, and high noise level. Drinks are good and the place is pretty. If you are a foodie do not eat here. I thought the DJ was downstairs. Average age on a Saturday night ws 25-35 years old."

"If you like a funky, fun restaurant with a nice, concise menu, stop by! The music was a little on the loud side, but it's definitely both a bar and a restaurant, so that's okay. The burgers were phenomenal."

"Came here on a Thurs around 8:30P . After seeing a couple walk out (after seeing their reaction to the volume of the noise and chatter) and having to hear the waitress tell me what a branzino was, I should have got up and left. The music mix was so loud in this all tiled room that I could hear couples at the bar (on the other side of the room) yelling to make themselves heard. The dishes weren't very memoriable. A decent burger. French fried haricot vert that arrived soggy, not crisp. It's a great space, with a fantastic undulating common table in the middle. But they really need to get on top fo the quality of the food, lower the music (and review some of those choices) before charging those prices."

"Food and drinks were okay but expensive. Way too loud for dinner conversation. They love their 80's music a bit too much. With so many other great places in this neighborhood I will not be back."

"very very noisy; it was more of a bar that served food than a restaurant....the waitress was very nice but she seemed stretched thin....i wouldn't go back for dinner and to have a conversation... if a group of you was celebrating secretary's day, its the place to go"

"We were seated immediately for our 11:30am brunch reservation so that was good. The lobster corn dogs were good, but overpriced. I had the fried chicken eggs benedict which was really fried chicken steak in the middle of an eggs benedict on a waffle. I didn't care for the waffle, and the chicken was fried indeed but there wasn't much taste to the whole dish. I did like my side order of battered fries though (but who wouldn't?)My friend liked his burger so that was okay. The red velvet pancakes were too die for though! The music was waaay too loud for a Sunday morning, but when I asked them to turn the volume down, the waitress asked and they did, so thank you for that. Overall, a good brunch place for once in a while."

"Very much a New York scene. Cool place but if you're looking for a nice relaxing brunch spot, this is not it. Also the food is fine, but the menu makes it sound a lot better than it actually is. Very heavy food."

"I have been to this place several times. The mac and cheese appetizer is one of my favorite. Brunch is great too...but steer clear of the desserts! The tiramisu is too dry and the waffle is saggy and tasteless."

"Food was very tasty and there was a great variety for brunch, sweet and savory, healthy and indulgent. Only thing was the starter I ordered came with the meal and by then I was eating my hand. But I think it was just a mixup. Overall I'd recommend. Was crowded, a real Chelsea scene."

"We had friend's in town visiting from Colorado and we wanted a place down town close to where they were staying. A friend recommended Pounds and Ounces. The ambiance is beautiful and very lively, the food and drinks are great. The only problem is the noise level and light. It was so incredibly loud in there that a nice dinner and visit with old friends turned into a shouting match. I felt like I was at a rock concert. We had to use a flashlight app on our Iphone to read the menu. The candles weren't even bright enough. That being said I would recommend this place for a fun night out for drinks and appetizers but not so much if you care what the person across from you is saying."

"Good food and service. Decor could be improved. The noise level was the bad part. The music was too loud which made people talk very loudly which does not make for a relaxing brunch. They should try to reduce the noise level."

"This is a good spot for a large group or for a drink. Our service (dinner for two) was rushed though and the music was crazy loud and latest hits. Not a relaxing spot at all. The food was mediocre at best. I had a tuna burger with a few sad pieces of lettuce and some dressing slapped on. Everything on the menu is meant to be unique but seems odd, like one ingredient too many, tipping the balance to bizarre. It's a trendy spot; don't expect much."

"I had high hopes for this restaurant but unfortunately it missed the mark. The service and the decor were great, but the food let it down. The appetizers were far too salty and the burger was only so-so. The french fries and my glass of Malbec were the best part of the meal- besides the company, obviously!"

"Most creative low key brunch around. Not the usual brunch swill, but the chef put some thought into the menu. That being said, it's also a great hangover brunch with just the right amount of comfort food (tempura asparagus sticks, sweet potato tater tots with a barbeque dipping sauce, and the best fried chicken/waffle/benedict you could imagine). Good mix of people, service always attentive."

"This is one of those places that cannot choose it it is a restaurant that wants to be a nightclub, or nightclub that wants to be a restaurant. There are VERY LOUD SPEAKERS every 24" hanging from the ceiling and they make full use of them. If you want to eat really good food but have no conversation (other than yelling over the din of the music), this is the place for you.
The food is great, although they severely over-cooked the Mahi-Mahi. The unique beverages were also tasty, if not expensive. The staff was friendly and helpful and the appetizers and salad were flawless.
Save from cash: Look for groupon-type deals, four-square check-in specials, etc. -- they seem to be promoting Pounds & Ounces everywhere!"

"This place is good for the after work crowd. I went there to catch a bite with a friend. We got a seat, with reservations and all. The waiter was courteous, but not very attentive as we kept having to call him or wait for him, and I had a deal, which they did not honor in full with no real explantion. The food was good though, and the prices were reasonable."
